1 Description of the task and solution
1.1 TaskIn modern automation projects, not all the components are supplied by the samecompany. You often have the situation that the supplier of the process controlsystem is not the same as the supplier of the drives.
Moreover, not every customer needs the complete and extensive range offunctions for the drives, which can be retrieved by specifically tailored blocklibraries, most of them chargeable.
1.2 Solution
For the integration of the direct starter drives Siemens therefore offers a modern
motor channel block FbSwtMMS, which is part of the PCS 7 standard libraryAdvances Process Library (APL), allowing for an integration into PCS 7 of all thedrives which support the standard profiles of the technical specification Profiles forLow Voltage Switchgear Devices.
In addition, this variant is also interesting for the integration of Siemens drives suchas SIMOCODE pro. The complete performance range is not always needed.
By interconnecting the motor channel block FbSwtMMS with the APL functionblock MotRevL, the complete function range of the PCS 7 operation, monitoringand supervision is available.
The configuration, parameterization and commissioning of the drives takes place inthe usual PCS 7 environment.
1.2.1 Main contents
The integration of a directly starting drive is explained and completely configuredas an example with a SIMOCODE pro V and a prefabricated template, which isalso a part of the PCS 7 Advanced Process Library (APL).
The focus will be on the following issues:
Channel block FbSwtMMS
Structure of the standard profiles
Integration of the template
Hardware configuration
CFC engineering
Parameterization of the drives via PDM

1.2.2 Restriction
This configuration instruction describes the integration of directly starting driveswhich support the standard protocol. As an example the Siemens driveSIMOCODE pro V is configured, all the other drives will be configured in exactlythe same way.
This application does not refer to the SIMOCODE library which is availableseparately for a fee and covers the complete performance range of theSIMOCODE drives.
1.2.3 Validity
This Application Example is valid for PCS 7 V 8.0 and higher.
All drives which support the standard profiles of the technical specification Profilesfor Low Voltage Switchgear Devices and for which a compatible Electronic DeviceDescription File (EDD) or a General Station Description (GSD) is available, can beintegrated in PCS 7 V8.0.

2 APL channel blockMotor Management Starter (FbSwtMMS)With the APL channel block Motor Management Starter all direct starter driveswhich support the standard profiles of the technical specification Profiles for LowVoltage Switchgear Devices can be integrated in the PCS 7.
This enables you to integrate directly starting drives from different manufacturersinto PCS 7.
The channel block is part of the PCS 7 Advanced Process Library (APL).Therefore, there will be no further costs from buying an add-on or an externallibrary.
In addition the direct starters, wherever they come from, are configured in the sameway in the PCS 7 environment.
2.1 Channel block
The channel block was developed according to the profiles for Motor ManagementStarter, which are described in the technical specification Profiles for Low voltageSwitchgear Devices (LVSG).
The Motor Management Starter profile prescribes that the format 0 has to beused for the data to the process control system and also for the data from the
process control system.
In case of the SIMOCODE pro V, this would be the basic type 2 with 4 bytes inputand 2 bytes output data.
NOTICE The connection of field devices into the PCS 7 via PROFINET is only entirelysupported with PCS 7 V8.0 SP1.

ExplanationThe 4 bytes entry data are reflected in the channel block in the two inputs PZDIn1
and PZDIn2 with one word each. The 2 bytes output data are represented with the output PZDOut1 in the block.
The input and output files are inverted as compared to the tables. In the followingscreenshot, the value 16#2400 is pending at the output PZDOut1, the value 24being the higher byte and 00 the lower byte.
The two individual bytes are read from right to left.

2.2 Template
The template provided by the Advanced Process Library (APL) represents acomplete configured CFC plan, where the APL channel block FbSwtMMS islogically interconnected with the APL function block MotRevL, thus offering aready-to-use automation solution with the following functions:
APL faceplates for PCS 7-conform operator control & monitoring.
Switching between local and remote control
Display of the current in the faceplate
The same operator control & monitoring no matter which motor manufacturer
No additional libraries required.
The template is based exclusively on the PCS 7 APL blocks, which are available asa standard from PCS 7 V8.0 onwards.
In the template, the channel block FbSwtMMS is interconnected with the motorblock MotRevL for a motor that can be switched on in forward and reverse mode.Three interlock blocks are provided for the interlocking with acknowledgment(Protect), interlocking without acknowledgement (Interlock) and the permit forswitching on (Permit).
Where to get the template and the channel blockThe channel block and the template are part of the PCS 7 V8.0 and do not requirean additional installation.

3 Configuration
3.1 RequirementA prepared PCS 7 project is required, where at least the CPU, the communicationprocessor and the DP master line, and all the communication paths have alreadybeen configured.
3.2 Importing the EDD/GSD file
In the Siemens device catalog you will find a great variety of field devices. If youcannot find a field device you use in this catalog, you can install the EDD or GSDfile for your field device. After the installation, the field device will be available in thedevice catalog with an object symbol, just as you know it.
You can get the EDD or GSD file from your field device supplier almost always.
Difference between EDD and GSD filesThe General Station Description (GSD) contains DP slave transmission features ina standard form. The use of a GSD file facilitates the configuration and integrationof field devices of different manufacturers in a DP master system.
The Electronic Device Description (EDD) always contains the GSD file and addsthe device features of the field device. The EDD files are read in by theconfiguration tools, e.g. SIMATIC PDM and simplify the configuration, commissioning and maintenance of the filed devices.
NOTICE When a direct starter is to be integrated by means of a GSD file, it cannot beconfigured by means of the PDM, but only by means of a configuration tool or onsite by means of an input module.
