Constantinople had water surrounding it on three sides. That made it a trade center. It was also easy to defend because it was surrounded by water.

One was a huge wall that went around the whole area. It also had the first sewer system. People often boasted that they had a sewer system.

What was daily life like in constantinople?It was better than other towns because they had a sewer system that helped keep the city clean. Also it had a very good defense against enemies. Lastly the king gave bread so if you were homeless you would get bread to eat.
