That in gratitude for our gifts, we may grow them and give back with increase. “Or who has given the Lord anything that he may be repaid?” Romans 11:35 St. Paul
reminds us of a central fact of stewardship. We cannot give the Lord anything - God already owns it all. God made everything. All we can do is return a portion of God’s many gifts back to Him. Sincere gratitude for our gifts opens our hearts to joyful generosity! Through your generous sharing, you just may be the answer to someone’s prayer.

Dear Parish Family,
A few days from now, the church will celebrate a great saint- St. Monica. It’s not Mother’s Day but it seems like that
because she was a great mother. She was the mother of St. Augustine. Isn’t it amazing? Mother and son are both saints!
But it was not like that all in the beginning. For those of you who have read their life story, know that St. Augustine was not
the saint we now know. His life was far from saintly and was a constant concern of his mother. She devoted her life in
prayer for his conversion. Some legends even say that she wept every night for her son. She never gave up on her son that
one day he will turn his life around and embrace God. Can you just imagine all the prayers and sacrifices she made for her
son? A true mother indeed! In his book, Confessions, St. Augustine mentioned his mother many times most especially her
efforts and prayers to bring about his conversion. Because of his mother, St. Augustine is a Doctor of the Church and is
considered one of the greatest minds in the Catholic Church. When she was dying she told her son, “I don’t care where you
bury me. All I am asking is to pray for me every time you celebrate the Holy Eucharist.”
I know Mother’s Day is celebrated in the month of May but we can certainly remember our own mothers and once again
thank her for the love, the care, the late nights she stayed up waiting, the support, the shoulder to cry on, the advices, the
patience, the words of encouragement, and so on! Pray for her! Then thank God for giving us such loving and caring
mothers!
Sincerely,
Fr Dwight

Prayer in the Time of Coronavirus Comfort us, O Lord, for we are like your disciples on the storm tossed seas, unsettled by what lies ahead.
We turn to You, our Healer and Guide, to still our hearts in our time of need and hear our prayer: Heal those who are sick with the coronavirus and protect the elderly and most vulnerable.
Give strength to all who tend to our health and wisdom to researchers who work toward a cure. Open our eyes and hearts, as you did during Hurricane Harvey, that we may look beyond our immediate needs to care
for others who need help. Through the Holy Spirit, guide our leaders to make wise decisions for the welfare of all the people they serve.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died from the virus. May Mary, Our Mother, who has heard our pleas in the storms of our lives,
Intercede to her Son, that we may find healing and a prompt end to this illness.
Mary, Star of the Sea, pray for us.
Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, heal us.

An Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus,
I believe that you are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated
from You. Amen.

SIX TASKS OF FAITH FORMATION The following has been adapted from the National Directory for Catechesis. 2005 #20 published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Jesus formed his disciples by making known to them the various dimensions of the Kingdom of God.... Christ's method of formation was accomplished by diverse yet inter-related tasks. His example is the most fruitful inspiration for effective catech-
esis today because it is integral to formation in the Christian faith.
Faith must be known, celebrated, lived and expressed in prayer. So catechesis comprises six fundamental tasks, each of which is related to an aspect of faith in Christ....
Faith formation: promotes knowledge of the faith. promotes knowledge of the meaning of the Liturgy and the Sacraments. promotes moral formation in Jesus Christ. teaches the Christian how to pray with Christ. prepares the Christian to live in community and to participate actively in the Life and mission of the Church. promotes a missionary spirit that prepares the faithful to be present as Christians in society.
Go to our parish website to register for Faith Formation (PreK-12th grade) https://smlj.org/registration (scroll all the way to the bottom).
These six tasks of faith formation constitute a unified whole by which faith formation seeks to achieve its objective: the for-mation of disciples of Jesus Christ.
2020-2021 Faith Formation Information This year our Fall Sessions will begin by offering ONLY VIRTUAL sessions. If there are modification in the Coronavirus’ conditions and/or government and archdiocesan guidelines, our class session options will be re-evaluated.
Meeting Days per Grade Level (all sessions will be from 6:15pm- 8:00pm) Grades Pre-K4 and Kinder: Thursday Grades 1st through 6th: Wednesday Grades 7th and 8th: Monday Grades 9th through 12th: Sunday Sessions
More detailed information can be found in the 2020-2021 Faith Formation Handbook posted under the Faith Formation Gen-eral Tab of the Website.
Registration Process for 2020-2021 Registration is now open. Please note: Registrations this year will only be online. If you encounter difficulties or need help in registering this way, please contact Sally Dodge at 979-299-3506 [email protected] Janet Gipson at 979-299-3507 [email protected]
Dear St. Michael Parishioners, This year our Faith Formation program will look different than previous years, but the goal we are hoping to accom-plish is to help families grow in their knowledge, in their love and in their service to Jesus Christ. We will be provid-ing resources to parents based on the grade level of their child/ren to work at home, but we understand and know that human contact is an important factor in catechesis. YOU CAN HELP US ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL! Let us know if you are ready to take the challenge! What??? Accompany 5 families in the duration of the 1st UNIT (about 6 weeks). How??? By checking on them to see how they are doing in their prayer life, by guiding them and praying with them over the phone or maybe meeting virtually (you and your appointed families decide on this). We will also give you guidance as to what you will be covering in those phone calls/meetings. When??? Bi-weekly or monthly basis (you and your appointed families decide on this). Contact Claudia at 979-299-3505 [email protected] or Sally at 979-299-3506 [email protected] We are glued to the phone and computer waiting for your call/email.
