We are still unable to celebrate public Masses and patiently await a gradual opening in the near future. The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains in effect until further notice. Please continue to follow our live-streamed Mass (link available on the parish website and in recorded version as well) or any Mass offered on television. Please make use of the parish website for other spiritual helps, as well as the Daily Message. The Church remains open every day from 7 AM until 7 PM for personal prayer. I remain available to everyone, for home visits, anointing, confessions, etc. Confessions are Saturdays at 3:00 PM until 3:50 PM in the St. Joseph Parish library. Confessions at Christ the King are every Friday at 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
“Then they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.” “Put to death in the flesh, he was brought to life in the Spirit.” “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth . . .” These three passages are from today’s readings, each speaking about the Holy Spirit. As we prepare to conclude the Easter Season, we are made aware of the importance of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives, advocating on our behalf and defending us against the great Accuser, the Devil. What a gift Jesus promises us who follow Him and love Him. Let us invoke the Holy Spirit in these days of the pandem-ic, for ourselves and for a renewal of the Church in this generation.

May 17th: Sixth Sunday of Easter
In the Gospel today, Jesus says to us:
“If you love me, you will keep my
commandments… Whoever loves
me will be loved by my Father and I will love
him and reveal myself to him.
When we give to the poor, God indeed pours
his love, peace and joy into our hearts, into
our lives and through us into the hearts of
those who are poor.

A Prayer Amid an Epidemic, By Kerry Weber
Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing
every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were
made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global
spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your
healing love.
Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their
strength and health through quality medical care.
Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working
together and neighbors from helping one another.
Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim
invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.
Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of
uncertainty and sorrow.
Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at
rest with you in your eternal peace.
Be with the families of those who are sick or have died.
As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and
despair. May they know your peace.
Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical
professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and
who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know
your protection and peace.
Be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to
act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the
people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to
invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or
prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as
they work together to achieve it on earth.
Whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many
people suffering from this illness or only a few, Jesus Christ,
stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In
place of our anxiety, give us your peace.
Jesus Christ, heal us.

Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Patriotism –
Knights of Columbus guiding principles
This is the fourth in a series of 4 articles featuring
the four principles of the Order. The founder of the Knights
of Columbus, Fr. Michael McGivney, wanted to establish a
fraternal Order whose members live the Christian virtues by
means of the principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity.
Patriotism: Knights of the Fourth Degree, also known as the
Patriotic Degree, hold unwaveringly to what is right and
honorable, working to keep God in the civic arena, serv-
ing the life of the Church, and defending laws that recog-
nize the sanctity of life and true religious liberty.
The first exemplification of the Fourth Degree took place
on Feb. 22, 1900, in New York City where 1,100 Knights re-
ceive the degree
We invite any Catholic gentleman at least 18 years old to
join our ranks. If you have questions please call LaVerne
