Sharing the Bread and the Cup

As directed by the ushers, please come forward, take a piece of bread, dip

it in the cup and partake. Servers are available to bring Communion to

those who wish to remain in their seats. Gluten-free crackers are available

in each basket.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom

come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day

our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is

the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. ~ Amen.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

All: Holy God, You come through bread and wine to revive our souls

and call us into new life. Thank you for this meal we have shared and

for the fellowship we have enjoyed around this table. Bless us now as

we prepare to go into the world and speak of the joy that is in Jesus

Christ, the resurrection and the life for us all. Amen

GATHERING WITH PRAISE

PRELUDE Alejandro Alumbreros

FIRST THOUGHT

I sought to hear the voice of God and climbed the topmost steeple, but

God declared: “Go down again – I dwell among the people.

~ John Henry Newman

CALL TO WORSHIP

One: The Lord is our shepherd who leads and who guides.

All: With God by our side, we have all that we need.

One: God brings us to the refreshing waters of our baptism

All: And to the table set before us with bread and wine

One: With gentleness and tenderness, God walks beside us through the

dark valley

All: And the cup of our lives runs over with God’s abundant love.

One: With God, we lack nothing, so let us worship God together.

OPENING HYMN “Now to Your Table Spread” [p. 515]

*PRAYER OF THE DAY

WELCOME

Welcome! Whoever you are, wherever you come from and whatever you

have done or failed to do, welcome to this place where we celebrate the

love of God and are inspired by the hospitality of Jesus Christ. May you

find God’s love, peace and grace as we worship together.

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Steve Fringer

Gentle and compassionate God, we turn to You and seek Your for-

giveness. We say that in You we have everything we need, yet we are

consumed with wanting more. We profess to listen to Your voice, but,

in reality we listen to the voices of those around us and live in ways

that break Your heart. We confess that when we walk through the

dark places of life, we do fear that You are not with us. The cup of

our life overflows with blessing, but we fail to share these blessings

with others. Look upon us now with tenderness, forgive our sins and

grant us Your peace through all the days of our lives. ~ Amen

(Let us continue to pray in silence.)

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One: Friends, hear the good news of the Gospel.

All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

*ACT OF PRAISE [313 V. 1]

Come down, O love divine, Seek out this soul of mine

And visit it with Your own ardor glowing;

O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear,

And kindle it, Your holy flame bestowing.

Thank you to all who have

donated to the beneficiaries

of Hand of Hope this year:

Bethany Apartments

Hand to Hand Program

Veteran's Outreach of

Wisconsin's Tiny Home

Village

It is wonderful to see all the

fish in the net in the Sanctuary!

This is just a reminder that we

will be accepting donations for

Hand of Hope until May 15th

, if

you would still like to make a

donation. Thank you!

Sunday, June 11, 2017, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Our Handbell

Choir, under the direction of Nancy Buck, will be holding a

concert at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 614 Main Street (on

the corner of 7th & Main), Racine, WI 53403. The concert is

from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This year, St. Luke’s celebrates their

175th anniversary, and this concert is a part of the festivities.

In order to keep costs down,

based on our PER CAPITA,

we’ve recently sent out let-

ters to former congregation

members of First Presbyteri-

an asking if they’d like to

remain active. Based upon

the responses, we’ve re-

moved about forty house-

holds, saving us having to

pay their PER CAPITA.

However, that required us

to remove names from our

monthly newsletter mailing.

In order to qualify for bulk

mailing, we need at least

200 on the list. Bulk mail-

ing saves us about $75 per

month on our newsletter

alone.

WE’D LOVE TO SHARE OUR

NEWSLETTERS WITH OTHERS WHO

WOULD ENJOY READING IT!

If you have a name or two

to add to our monthly mail-

ing, please drop a note in

Shelley’s mailbox, call the

office at 262.632.1686 or

Thank you!

!

First Presbyterian is hosting the Community Meal, Tuesday,

May 16, at the Head Start building, located at 1032 Grand Ave.,

hand with food prep and servicing. Prep starts at 2:00 p.m. at

our church. We then transport everything to the site at 4:30

p.m. Helpers eat at 5:00 p.m. and we serve our neighbors

from 5:30 to 6:15p.m. There is a bit of clean up afterward

and that's it! If you can help, the sign up poster will be in Ih-

rman Hall. Questions? Call Debbie Yale (h) 262-639-5004 or
