A walk through Smlednik and ValburgaWhat are some of the particularities of Smlednik? Every house has its own hill and its own trench (“graben”), and the village has as many intersections as London, a metropolis.

Do you know Šentomprga? Take a walk through it, helping yourself with this leaflet and a map.

“Simon Jenko” Elementary SchoolThe school was named after the poet Simon Jenko who attended it in the years from 1842 to 1844. Another one of its pupils was priest and patriot Jakob Aljaž who attended it from 1853 to 1855.

Blejček ChapelLate Baroque chapel boasting a statue of St Joseph with a lily flower in his hand.

Lazarini Mansion, St Walpurga ChurchThe Baroque mansion hosts a chapel, a painted ceremonial hall, and a series of rooms with murals. St Walpurga Church in Valburga (Šentomprga) is a Baroque church with an abundantly carved pulpit.

Peasant Rebellion MonumentThe authors of the sculptures, built in 2015 to commemorate the rebellious past, are locals Helena and Miro Rismondo, Bogdan Jerič, and Bojan Kranjc.

Mežnar House and National Liberation Struggle (NOB) MonumentThe Mežnar House is a monument of cultural heritage since the original architecture of the house was kept. Across the street from the house is a National Liberation Struggle monument with names of those fallen from 1941 to 1945.

“Blood Monument”This Late Baroque chapel stands on the spot where the princely scaffold used to be.
