In the words o Bob Dylan the times they are a changing and never more than now
do CIOs have to be more than just a CIO. Their role has diversifed and with what is now
coined The New Normal, the CIO has to move with the times or its either adapt or per-
ish! With IT Inrastructure moving to the cloud, consumerisation making everyone an
expert and the next generation viewing technology as normal how will the role o
the CIO / IT Manager in legal change or is it completely doomed?
It is not only the role o the CIO that is evolving it is also that technology is racing at light
speed. Standard issues like security, inrastructure and document management are
constant items on the IT agenda yet new areas like BYOT, the Cloud, Collaboration, Big
Data, Social Media and Apps have to now be included and considered, seriously.
Every year Lawtechies retreat to the calming surrounds o the Qld hinterland to
discuss and review, network and chat amongst peers and every year they return to their
oce re-energized and inormed.
These issues above will be high on the conerence agenda which is again guided by our
profcient Advisory Panel and tackled by our expert speakers.
As Lawtech moves to its seventh year our priorities remain the same: quality
conerence programme delivered by brilliant speakers and exceptional networking
opportunities, setting the event as a sturdy staple on the legal IT agenda.
As a rst attendee I found the conference an excellentopportunity to meet with others in the industry to discuss
ideas and issues that will strengthen my knowledgeand therefore my ability for successful implementation

The iPad is anexcellent tool for meeting these needs... as long as you have the right App for the
job. This session looks at the complexities of developing your own in-house apps, including security and other aspects that need to be considered in the develop-ment process. It will showcase Corrs Briefcase app which allows their lawyers tosecurely access documents on iPads.
