    OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

    This project deals with the analysis of properties ofhigh strength concrete mix with compressive strengthof MPa and to study the influence of the percentageof sand on the 28 days compressive strength of 150*150mm concrete cube.

    High performance concrete is usually producedusing high quality materials.Due to versatility ofconcrete it can be possible to get concrete of variousstrengths by slightly varying the quality and quantityof its ingredients. This project work intends to

    investigate the optimum percentage of sand to beused in M50 concrete mix design to obtain themaximum strength.

    To see the variation strength with sand contentvariation.

    INTRODUCTION

    Concrete is the second largest material consumed byhuman beings after food and water as per WHO. It isobtained by mixing cement, fine aggregate, coarseaggregate and water in required proportions.

    The high strength concrete mix needs some specialattention. To achieve high strength, it is necessary touse lowest possible water-cement ratio which

    invariably affects the workability of the mix andnecessitates the use of special vibration techniquesand plasticizing materials for proper compaction.

    WHAT IS HIGH STRENGTH

    CONCRETE?

    It is a type high performance concrete generally with aspecified compressive strength of 40 Mpa or greater. Itrequires high quality control and good quality ofaggregates.

    WHY do we need high strength

    concrete? To put the concrete into service at much earlier age for

    example opening the pavement.

    To build high rise buildings by reducing column sizes

    and increasing available space. To build the superstructure of long span bridges and

    to enhance the durability of bridge decks.

    To satisfy the specific needs of special application such

    as durability modulus of elasticity and f lexuralstrength some of these application includes dams,grand stand roofs, marine foundations, parkinggarages and heavy duty industrial floors
