Two-Vehicle Accident Injures MotorcyclistA Kittanning man was
taken to a local hospital after a collision between his motorcycle and a passing vehicle.
Kittanning Police Officer Kyle Lewis explained the motorcyclist – identified as Marvin H. Packer of Kittanning - was traveling north on North Water Street as the driver of a Pontiac Vibe - Donald T. Lane of West Kittanning –was pulling out onto North Water from Arch Street.
“Apparently, the driver didn’t see (the motorcyclist) and there was a collision,” Officer Lewis said.
Packer was taken via
Kittanning #6 Ambulance to ACMH Hospital for evaluation and a possible foot injury. His medical condition was not known as of late last night.
Lane - who according to Officer Lewis took full responsibility for the crash - was not injured. It is not known if he will be charged, but Officer Lewis did determine that neither man was driving under the influence.
The red Harley-Davidson motorcycle sustained fender damage, but there was no visible damage to the blue Pontiac Vibe.
According to local onlookers who were driving toward the Kittanning Elks
lodge, the motorcyclist slid on his bike for several feet to avoid the oncoming vehicle and could not slow down due to road conditions.
Kittanning Hose Company #1 firefighters blocked off the entrance to North Water Street from Market Street and the site near District Magisterial Judge James Owen’s office as Officer Lewis and ambulance crews assessed the two motorists. They left the scene about a half-hour after Armstrong 9-1-1 dispatchers reported the accident.
A local motorcyclist was taken to ACMH Hospital yesterday evening after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Water Street and Arch Street in Kittanning Borough. His medical condition was unknown late last night.
