BEZERRA LIFTS HOOSIERS WITH HAT TRICK• Freshman Victor Bezerra turned in an historic three-goal performance in the second-round victory over the No. 19 Kentucky Wildcats. • His hat trick marked the third in program history in the NCAA Tournament and first since Nikita Kotlov tallied a trio of goals against Xavier on Nov. 10, 2012. • Scott Merritt also recorded a hat trick against Evansville on Nov. 24, 1996 in the NCAA Tournament-Regional Semifinal. • Bezerra is the youngest player in program history to score a postseason hat trick as Kotlov was a junior and Merritt was a senior.

INDIANA DOES NOT CONCEDE IN B1G TOURNAMENT• The top-seeded Hoosiers ran through nearly 303 minutes and three games of the 2019 Big Ten Conference Tournament without yielding a goal from the opposition. • In the quarterfinal round, Indiana ended the season of the eighth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes with a 2-0 result. Freshman Joshua Penn and redshirt junior A.J. Palazzolo tallied the two Hoosier goals. • The Hoosiers exacted revenge on the fifth-seeded and tournament host Maryland Terrapins in the semifinals by a 1-0 victory. Sophomore Jack Maher secured the match-winning goal from the spot.• For the second-straight season, Indiana shutout Michigan in the conference title match. The Hoosiers outdueled the Wolverines by a count of 4-3 in penalty kicks following 110 minutes of scoreless soccer.

HOOSIERS DOMINATE POSTSEASON BIG TEN AWARDS• Indiana led the conference with 12 overall Big Ten postseason honors: two first-team selections, eight overall team selections, and three specialty award winners. • Sophomore defender Jack Maher and freshman midfielder Aidan Morris each claimed a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team, while freshman midfielder Joshua Penn, senior defender Simon Waever, and redshirt junior defender Spencer Glass were named to the second team. • Freshman forward Herbert Endeley joined both Morris and Penn on the 2019 All-Big Ten Freshman Team. The three Indiana players named to the all-rookie team tied a program-best mark and is the most since garnering three selections in 2017.• Maher was also tabbed the 2019 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, while Morris racked up 2019 Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.• Indiana head coach Todd Yeagley was named Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year for the third time.

POWERED BY YOUTH• Indiana entered the 2019 season with the second-ranked recruiting class by Top Drawer Soccer. The young freshmen have been dominant for the Hoosiers.• Seven freshmen have tallied at least one goal for the Hoosiers this season. Victor Bezerra leads the team with eight goals, while Joshua Penn has six tallies. During the unbeaten streak, the Hoosiers posted a record of 23-0-9.• Prior to the loss to Maryland, IU’s last league loss in the regular season came on Oct. 10, 2015 in overtime at Ohio State, 1-0.

HOOSIERS TABBED BIG TEN FAVORITES• The Hoosiers were tabbed as the Big Ten preseason favorites in a poll conducted of the league’s coaches for the second-straight year.• Along with being named the preseason favorite, IU’s Spencer Glass, Simon Waever and Jack Maher were named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List.

HOOSIERS TAKE INTERNATIONAL TRIP TO MEXICO CITY• In March, the Indiana men’s soccer team traveled to Mexico City to play in a pair of matches, as well as participate in many cultural experiences.• On the pitch, the Hoosiers earned a win over the Cruz Azul U-20 team and also defeated the UNAM University team in the legendary Estadio Olimpico, host of the 1986 World Cup.• Along with the two matches the team played, IU watched a match at Azteca Stadium, toured Mexico City and got an exclusive tour of the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacan.

IU REACHES COLLEGE CUP FOR SECOND-STRAIGHT YEAR• For the second-straight season, Indiana reached the College Cup.• IU has reached a NCAA-record 20 College Cups.• Indiana has reached the College Cup three time under head coach Todd Yeagley - 2012, 2017, 2018 - winning the program’s eighth NCAA title in 2012.

HEAD COACH TODD YEAGLEY

• Todd Yeagley was named Indiana head men’s soccer coach on December 18, 2009 and is in his 10th year as the Hoosiers’ leader. 2012 NCAA National Champions• In just his third season as head coach, Yeagley led Indiana to the 2012 NCAA title, the eighth championship in IU history. The Hoosiers became the first No. 16 seed to win the championship, compiling victories over Xavier, at No. 1 Notre Dame, at No. 9 North Carolina, No. 12 Creighton and No. 3 Georgetown during their tournament run. • Yeagley was named 2012 Soccer America Coach of the Year as he and his father Jerry become the only father-son duo to have won Division I men’s soccer championships. Year-By-Year• The 2018 season was another historic one for Indiana, as the Hoosiers won both the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships for the first time since 2006. IU advanced to the College Cup for the second-straight season and finished the year ranked No. 3 in the nation with an overall record of 20-3-1. Also for the second-straight season, Yeagley and the IU coaching staff were named Men’s North Region Staff of the Year for DI Institutions by United Soccer Coaches. Andrew Gutman and Trey Muse earned First-Team All-America honors from United Soccer Coaches, while Griffin Dorsey earned second-team accolades.

• In 2017, the Hoosiers reached the College Cup Final, falling in double overtime to Stanford. Indiana was unbeaten in the team’s first 24 matches and posted an overall record of 18-1-6 on the year, finishing the year ranked No. 2 in the nation. Yeagley and the rest of the IU coaches were named the Men’s Midwest Region Staff of the Year (SOY) for Division I Institutions by the United Soccer Coaches. Both Grant Lillard and Andrew Gutman earned All-America honors, as the Hoosiers set the school mark for shutouts in a season with 18. Playing Career• As a player, Yeagley was a four-time All-American at Indiana (1991-94) and in 1994 was named the Missouri Athletic Club National Player of the Year. During his stint as a student-athlete in Bloomington, Yeagley was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. He led the Hoosiers to three Big Ten titles (1991, 1992, 1994) and a 79-9-5 overall record. • After his playing days at Indiana, Yeagley also enjoyed a successful seven-year professional career in Major League Soccer with the Columbus Crew. Columbus advanced to the MLS Playoffs in five of Yeagley’s seven seasons with the team and won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2002. Honors• Since returning to his alma mater, Yeagley has produced 14 Major League Soccer Draft picks, six MLS Homegrown signees, 45 All-Big Ten honorees (23 first-team selections) and five Big Ten Player of the Year selections. Personal• Yeagley is a member of the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame and in 2013 was inducted into the Monroe County Hall of Fame and the IU Athletics Hall of Fame. • Yeagley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Indiana in 2002.
