DISCOVERY WORLD A science and technology center featuring a scale model of the Great Lakes, sustainability exhibits, and the Freshwater Sustainability Lab that empowers students to explore freshwater issues. CENTRAL LIBRARY Historic library with public 33,000 square foot green roof and photovoltaic solar array that generates about 36,000 kilowatt hours per year. BRADFORD BEACH Named one of USA Today’s best urban beaches, it is also Milwaukee’s most popular outdoor amenity with rain gardens to reduce bacterial pollution, native plant- ings, and educational signage. UW-MILWAUKEE The university boasts numerous sustainable initiatives including multiple green roofs, stormwater management systems, and urban agriculture. Key sites include the Golda Meir Library’s green roof and the rainwater spiral garden. URBAN ECOLOGY CENTER: RIVERSIDE PARK & ARBORETUM An environmental education center located in Riverside Park featuring rainwater restrooms, a green roof, and one of the largest solar power stations in Wisconsin. UWM SCHOOL OF FRESHWATER SCIENCES As the only school in the country dedicated to freshwater research, this division of UWM is home to the Great Lakes Water Institute.
