MESSAGE FROM FESTIVAL DIRECTOR LORRAINE LIYANAGE:

The Dulwich Music Festival is now in its 8th year and we are delighted to host a new event in Tunbridge Wells celebrating the music of Clementi. This event is made possible by the generous sponsorship of Katrina and Richard Burnett from The Finchcocks Charity.

We return to Handel & Hendrix in London for the third time to host a Junior Harpsichord Competition adjudicated by Dušan Toroman. Dušan won the 2nd Broadwood Horniman Harpsichord Competition in 2017 and we are delighted that he has travelled from Serbia to adjudicate this event. This is one of the few harpsichord competitions in the world for a younger audience and we are grateful to the Museum for granting special permission for harpsichordists to perform on the beautiful Kennedy Ruckers harpsichord.

We have two more events planned for the Summer. Piano For All is a competition for beginner and junior-level pianists held in Dulwich Village on May 18th. We have chosen an exciting selection of contemporary repertoire by composers Olly Wedgwood, Marcel Zidani and Rosa Conrad. The composers will be adjudicating the classes and Rosa will even accompany young pianists in the duet class! The event is informal and a gentle introduction to performing in public.

We will return to Kingsdale Foundation School on June 9th for our annual Piano Competition that is adjudicated by Jena Pang from the British and International Federation of Festivals. Online entries will open soon for this event. Keep an eye on the festival web site - early entry advised as we have a set number of competitors per class. All classes are competitive with trophies and medals. There are classes for graded piano players as well as a Junior Recital class that is extremely popular.

For all event enquiries, please email [email protected].
