March 21, 2011 To Whom It May Concern, We are pleased to announce the 8th Annual Lumpy’s Scramble for Autism will be presented by Mathis Brothers Furniture and hosted by Verizon FiOS, a Network Ahead. This year’s event will take place at the PGA West Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament courses on Monday May 2nd 2011 and benefit The Lumpy’s Foundation and The Coachella Valley Autism Society of America (CVASA). Our goal is to raise funds and awareness for local families dealing with Autism. Last year we were pleased to raise and contribute over $100,000 to this worthy cause. Autism is a developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life. Autism impacts the normal development of the brain in areas of social interaction and communication skills. Persons with Autism may exhibit repeated body movements, unusual responses to people or attachments to objects, and resistance to changes in routine. The most recent studies show Autism has been estimated to occur in as many as 1 in 100 children today. Its prevalence rate makes Autism one of the most common developmental disabilities in the U.S. today. Lumpy’s “Scramble for Autism” will raise money for the Lumpy’s Foundation and CVASA, through a silent auction, and raffle. Along with over 80 local area businesses that donated to our silent auction, Mathis Brothers, Adams Golf, La Quinta Cliffhouse, Oakley, CBS TV2, Time Warner Cable, KPSI, and Palm Springs Motors participate as our sponsors. We thank them for their generous contributions. However, the success of the silent auction and raffle was due to the fabulous contributions of donors such as you.
