Dear fellow Orthopaedic surgeons,

It is my pleasure to inform that the 8th Limb Deformity CorrectionCourse (LDCC) will be organized from 9th to 12th April 2019. With increasinginterest in surgery to reconstruct congenital and developmental limbdeformities, and to manage complex trauma cases, we decided to modify thecourse program to include more hands-on practical sessions that allowsurgeons to plan, prepare and practice surgical procedures for these complexconditions.

LDCC is designed for surgeons who have some basic knowledgeand experience in the use of Ilizarov external fixator. The course program willdeal with both acute and gradual correction of limb deformities, and introducevarious strategies to use unilateral and ring external fixators. We areintroducing two workshops modules for gradual correction of ankle equinusand clubfoot deformity using Taylor Spatial Frame and Ilizarov ring externalfixators. There will also be a workshop on external fixator guided locking platefixation. We have reduced the time allocated for lectures, and will focus moreon principles / approaches for correction of limb deformity. We will also sharewith participants the rehabilitation and nursing aspects of patient care.

There are a total of 8 saw bone workshops for the three-daycourse. We will only be able to register a total of 40 participants. For the silentmentor (cadaveric) workshop for acute knee deformity correction, we can onlyregister 16 participants. We hope that those who are interested can registerearly. We may not be organizing the course in 2020 due our involvement inboth ASEAN Orthopaedic Association (AOA) congress and Asia PacificOrthopaedic Association (APOA) congress in Kuala Lumpur in the same year.
