What dairy or ag-related extracur-ricular activities are you involved in? I am involved in 4-H, 4-H dairy judg-ing, FFA and the Minnesota Junior Hol-stein Association (MJHA).Why are you involved in these orga-nizations and what is your favorite? I am involved in these organizations to make connections with people who ex-press the same interests as me. I have learned over time that I will constantly run into these people in other places, usually in an agriculture-related setting. My favorite organization is MJHA. All of my friends from this organization hold one thing in common, our love for the Holstein dairy cow. I see these friends all summer long at shows.Tell us your best experience during your time in these organizations. My best experience was in MJHA when my dairy quiz bowl team competed at the national convention. Whats your favorite social media? My favorite social media is Facebook. It is easy to use and many people are aware of it. What are your career aspirations? I am thinking about becoming a large animal veterinarian or going into agri-cultural education.

Dairys Star YouthGet to know Catherine Thompson, Plainview, Minn.

MISSY MUSSMAN/DAIRY STARCatherine Thompson is a junior at Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School and is the daughter of Donny and Holly Thompson of Plainview, Minn.

What is something youve learned from being involved in these organi-zations? I have learned to take every opportunity that comes your way. It could lead you to great places.Who do you look up to? I look up to my mother. She is such a hard working woman. She milks every morning and manages the dairy sector of our farm while being a mother of three.Tell us something about yourself that many people dont know. I am a cheerleader. Most people do not suspect this because I am very involved in ag-riculture.Tell us some of your duties on the farm. I am responsible for the calves, from newborn up to 6 months old, and I milk with my siblings in the evening. I also care for our show heifers. If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be and how would you change it? I would like to change the way farmers are viewed. The general public is unaware and highly uneducated about how much we care for our animals and land. I believe that overtime they will become more educated through agriculture organiza-tions.
