Day 1 Depart USA Depart Columbus, OH for Italy. Meals andrefreshments served on board.Day 2 Arrive Rome, Italy/Sorrento Upon arrival proceed tobaggage claim. After clearing customs, you will be met by our TourDirector and transferred to your hotel in Sorrento, an attractiveseaside town at the center of the Amalfi Coast. In the afternoon,enjoy a walking orientation tour of Sorrento. Dinner and overnightat the hotel. (D)Day 3 Sorrento - Tour of Amalfi Coast This morning, leaveSorrento for a full day of sightseeing on the Amalfi Coast. Briefstop at the Sorrento Belvedere to enjoy a unique view of Moorisharchitecture blended with pastel colored houses and to takepictures of this unforgettable site. Then continue to Amalfi for awalking tour of the old village and finally reach Ravello. Enjoylunch on your own at a restaurant with spectacular views of theAmalfi Coast and the Bay of Salerno. Enjoy time for a stroll aroundthe center of town before returning to Sorrento. Overnight at thehotel. (B)Day 4 Sorrento Full day at leisure or take an optional tour toCapri. Weather permitting, a morning jetfoil whisks you across theblue Bay of Naples to the fabled Isle of Capri. Upon arrival we willdrive to Anacapri where you will have free time for shopping beforeheading to Capri. You will ascend to the Piazzetta and visit theFloral Gardens of Caesar Augustus. The town center is whereextravagance is the non-noticed norm. The magic of the island iseverywhere. Walk by spotless narrow streets. Gaze at boutiquedisplays. Today it is the third-most populated city in Italy, with some 1 million residents.Discover an age-old city dotted with Medieval, Baroque andRenaissance era churches and castles. During medieval times the town’s medical schoolwas among the most advanced. In recent history, Salerno was thesite of the Allied landing in September 1942. Continue toPaestum, one of the best collections of Greek temples in WesternEurope, and see the 2000 year old Doric Temples. Next, visit a“Mozzarella di Bufala” factory to learn about the Mozzarellamaking process, and to sample some of it. Day 8 Sorrento - Tour of Pompeii/Rome Today you will be leaving Sorrento for Rome, the “Eternal City”. Along the way we stop and tour Pompeii. No visit to southern Italy would be complete without a visit to the unique ruins of Pompeii. Explore the ancient city covered by volcanic dust from Mt Vesuvius in AD 79, and see the excavated remains of the Forum, thermal baths, Lupanare and Vetti's House. Once we arrive to Rome, the rest of the day is at leisure. Italy’s renowned capital city is a constant among “top ten” lists of places to visit. Rome welcomes, embraces, and captivates travelers at every turn. Soak in the Italian culture as you stroll past Roman ruins, absorb the impressive architecture, and explore everything from Imperial temples to early-Christian churches, medieval bell towers, baroque basilicas and playful piazzas.
