A VERSATILE , HIGH-YIELD NEUTRON GENERATOR FOR t)EMANDtNCACTIVATION ANALYSES . . . AVAILABLE WITH BOLT-ON ACCESSORYEQUIPMENT FOR SOPHISTICATED PULSED NEUTRON EXPERIMENT S

ACTIVATRON 211 is the fi rs t neutron generator in its .price range capable of produc•ing 14 Mev neutrons at a rate of over 2 . 5 x 10"n ./sec . This high yield - combinedwith exceptional boom stability -- contributes to to significant improvement in thespeed , accuracy , and sensitivity obtainable through activation analysis techniques .

Although the ACTIVATRON 211 was designed primarily for udvunced resecrcth or,plicatlons, its moderate cost and ease of opt ration also quality it for educot,,>nal o4industrial use . Unrestricted operating flexibility is achieved through ilrr uss of u dualpower spu tter ion pump, a variable focus beam , and separately adjustable powersupplies for the main accelerator, ion source, and focusing sections . Personnel socetyIs assured by electrical interlock provisions and the absence of exposed high voltage .The use of transformer oil for high voltage insulation and ion source cooling eli,w,natescorrosion , arcing and corona discharges whiles contributing to the stability and iiie atthe ion source. The modified Penning ion source employed is on all metal un it with avirtually unlimited operating life .

The ACTIVATRON 211 consists of an accelerator unit, associated high voltage supplies, and a desk -type control console . To form a complete system for activation analysis, these basic elements can be furnished with an automatic sample transfer system, scintillation detectors , o multi-channel pulse analyzer , flux monitors , and readoutequipment - all designed and built by TMC .
