Primo® Frame Star® PCR plates

FrameStar® 2-component plates improve consistency of PCR results

A special technology combines an extremely rigid structure (polycarbonate skirt and deck ) with thin wall tubes to guarantee optimal results in PCR experiments. The two-component design guarantees optimal mechanical stability and eliminates any distortion with the advantage to improve the integrity of the seal. Several studies have demonstrated that the high thermal stability of Frame Star®Plates compared to the one piece polypropylene plates eliminates any risk of sample evaporation indeed the excessive thermal expansion may have a damaging effect on seal integrity. Moreover the rigid structure of the plates is ideal for the use with robotic instruments such as stackers and liquid handling robots. Plates are moulded by injection of clear virgin polymer, the entire process is carried out in a clean room facility. Well integrity and absence of contaminants is 100% guaranteed, each single well is tested for leakage and contaminants such as human DNA (genomic DNA free), nucleases and PCR inhibitors.Plates have been tested with success on most automation platforms: Hamilton, Beckman, Tecan, ZymarK. EuroClone offers a complete portfolio of PCR plates with full skirted semi skirted and non skirted plates FrameStar® plates are available with purple, blue, red, green, clear and black frames, all with clear tubes. in addition we offer plates with white tubes optimised for fluorescence assays.Plates with black tubes are also available. FrameStar® PCR plates are covered by one or more of the following U.S. patents or their foreign counterparts, owned by Eppendorf AG: US Patent nos. 7,347,977 and 6,340,589

Fluorescence based Analysis For experiments involving fluorescence detection, e.g. Q-PCR, we have developed plates which are especially low in autofluorescence. For this type of experiment we recommend to use our plates with white wells and black frames: White wells have shown to maximise signal intensity due to the reflective properties of the pigment. At the same time cross talk between adjacent wells is minimised by the black, light absorbing plate frame and deck. This is a colour combination that cannot be offered by traditional one piece PCR plates.

Bar Coding

All skirted and semi-skirted plates are available with linear barcodes for identification and traceability. The labels are highly scratch resistant and can withstand cold storage (-80°C) and solvents, such as DMSO. Either single or double barcodes are available off-the-shelf and a variety of customisations are possible.

Manufacturing & Quality Control

FrameStar® plates are produced under clean-room conditions in the most modern injection moulding facilities. Particles, bacterial cells and other contaminants are filtered from the atmosphere so that FrameStar® plates are kept free from any factors which may affect the quality of experimental results. Only virgin polymers are used to avoid the presence of impurities. Our stringent QC procedures guarantee 100% well integrity and the absence of contaminants:

Primo® Framestar® 96 Well Skirted Low Profile

Low profile plates have shorter wells than standard profile plates, decreasing the “dead space” between the heated lid of the thermal cycler and the sample. This eliminates condensation on the side wall of the tube, preventing reduction in PCR volume and increasing the efficiency of the reaction. Low profile products are especially recommended for use with reaction volumes below 20μl. The rigid two-component design eliminates warping and distortion during PCR making it ideal for use with robotic systems.

Primo® FrameStar® 96 Non Skirted Low Profile

Primo® Adhesive Sealing EuroClone offers a wide range of adhesive sealing materials, including those with clear, pierceable, peelable and solvent resistant properties. Applications include PCR, QPCR, compound storage, low temperature storage and sample shipping. All seals are certified free from nucleases and human genomic DNA contamination.

A strong transparent adhesive seal recommended for PCR. Primo® Semi-Automated Heat SealerThe semi-automated heat sealer is designed for low to medium throughput and is compatible with a wide range of sealing sheets and with plates of differing heights. Sealing time and temperature can be adjusted to allow for optimisation of sealing conditions to suit all plate and seal types. No damage to sample, plate and sealing sheet can be ensured. Plates and seals are manually loaded into the instrument but the sealing mechanism is automated to ensure that the same pressure is applied with every sealing process and that highest sealing consistency is achieved. The rapid heating element allows for quick start up of the unit within minutes. The temperature of the heating block is displayed in real time so that the heating up process can be monitored. When the unit is left idle it automatically switches into stand-by mode and the temperature of the heating element is reduced to 60 °C to save energy. The time at which the unit switches into stand-by mode, can be adjusted to suit the users needs. When the unit is left idle for longer periods it switches off automatically for added safety.

Adapters and Sealing Aids PRIMO® Heat sealer is a unique and cost saving adapter system. Deep-well plates and most other skirted plates can be sealed on the standard plate carrier (ECPCR0615, supplied with the unit). For all 96well PCR plates an additional plate carrier (ECPCR0625, optional extra) must be used. Both plate carriers can also be combined for easier handling of shallow well plates such as 384well PCR plates. For better sealing of those films which have a tendency to curl we offer sealing aids. A weighted platen (ECPCR0602) for use with deep-well blocks is provided with the unit and a sealing frame for use with all other plate designs is supplied when ordering the optional ECPCR0625 adapter.

Plate Formats The following plate formats can be used. • SBS standard polypropylene & polystyrene plates & deep-well blocks

(incl. 384well PCR plates), use adapter ECPCR0615 • 96well PCR plates (incl. skirted, semi-skirted and non-skirted formats),

use adapter ECPCR0625. The rapid heating element allows for a quick start up within minutes. The temperature is displayed in real time so that the heating up process can be monitored.

Primo® 96 Square-Well Deep-Well U-Bottom Microplate

EuroClone deep-well plates are produced in clean room facilities which are certified free of RNase, DNase, protease and endotoxin. We use only the highest grade polypropylene with resistance to corrosion from chemicals such as DMSO, phenol, and chloroform.The round-wells maximise sample retrieval yet minimise wicking (capillary action).
