  • UPCOMING NEW MEMBER SESSIONS: For those interested in joining

    Mt. Zion Church, new member classes will be held on the following Sundays

    – Nov. 24 and Dec. 1 & 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please email

    [email protected] or speak to Pastor Gary on Sunday morning

    to let us know of your interest. New Member Sunday will be Dec. 15, 2019.

    The Advent Study this year is based on Robin Wilson’s book, Advent: God

    Is With Us. Pastor Gary will be facilitating the class. The study consists of

    attending four evening sessions which will be held on the following Mondays

    at 7 pm – Nov. 25 and Dec. 2, 9, and 16. The class will meet in Conference

    Room 2. Sign up for the class by placing your name on the information sheet

    provided inside the worship bulletin. Cost of book is $9.99.

    Operation Christmas Child: Will you fill a box this year and make a child

    happy, as well as introduce them to Christ? Be sure to follow the instructions

    about items to include and those that cannot be included, such as candy. Filled

    boxes need to be brought to Mt. Zion on Nov. 17 or 24. Questions? Contact

    Open Doors Food Pantry Christmas Angels are back! You may begin

    signing up now. Additional angels will be available in the west narthex

    beginning Nov. 24. Our distribution date is early this year (Dec. 14.) so we

    encourage you to return gifts early. Collection will be in the west narthex.

    Winter coats, hats, and gloves for Ames UMC in West Baltimore: We are

    collecting items for those in need in Baltimore City. Drop off new or gently

    used items in the collection bin located in the west narthex through Friday,

    Nov. 22. Items will be distributed during the Thanksgiving community

    outreach event at Ames UMC on Saturday, Nov. 23.

    Mount Zion is partnering with the International Rescue Committee and

    their Welcome Home Project to prepare an apartment for a newly arriving

    refugee family. If you are able to help, we need household goods, furniture,

    volunteers to store large items, collect and deliver items, shop for additional

    GriefShare - Surviving the Holidays, most likely between services in Nov–

    The BWC's chapter of the Wesleyan Covenant Association is holding its

    Fall Gathering of Worship and Fellowship on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m., at

    First UMC in Laurel. Refreshments will follow the worship. For more

    Thanksgiving Basket and Winter Clothing Giveaway Event at Ames

    UMC in West Baltimore: We are looking for volunteers to help assemble

    Thanksgiving meal baskets, organize clothing donations, and distribute these

    items during the community outreach event on Saturday Nov. 23. Also

    looking for volunteers with a pick-up truck, van, minivan, or large SUV to

    help transport food from the MD Food Bank to Ames UMC on Friday,

    Nov. 22. Contact Fred Towner.

    The Drop-In Adult Sunday School class will begin a new study sponsored

    by Bishop Easterling and the BWC titled “Who are We” on Nov. 17. This

    study was designed to center us in our core identity. And, so we ask, “Who

    are we?” Who are we as the people of God? Who are we as the people called

    Methodists shaped by Wesleyan theology? Who are we as the members of

    the Balt.-Wash. Conference? Who are we becoming as we journey on toward

    perfection? Join us in Conf. Room 3 during the Sunday School hour.

    The Youth are collecting NEW and GENTLY USED items suitable for

    children to give as Christmas gifts to family members and NEW pet toys for

    those furry brothers and sisters. Our Youth Elves will wrap the items to be

    sold inexpensively at the Santa's Secret Workshop during Breakfast with

    Santa on Dec. 7. We also ask for donations of giftwrap, bags, bows, &

    invisible tape. Bins will be in the west narthex and the church office until,
