0The most comprehensive tribute to the 911

911@50 is a one-off digital publication dedicated exclusively to the Porsche 911. It is addressed to Porsche 911 owners and enthusiasts who will enjoy it in their free time and use it as a future reference to their car’s needs. Everything in this special 911 tribute is designed as if “Porsche approved”.

The 911 is so special amongst sports cars because it’s philosophy is so unique. “It is wrong to build a car with the engine in the back” is what everybody said at the time. Ferry Porsche wasn’t “everybody” so he begged to differ. He managed to stay focused on the advantages of having the engine located behind the rear axle and created a masterpiece that is still cherished after 50 years in production.

We believe that the best tribute to the 911 has to have a little special something of its unique philosophy. That’s why we chose a different path than almost every other publisher: the digital format of the magazine. We have a very long history with publishing innovations (read About us) and now is the time to lead again. We invite you to be a part of this new era in publishing that has begun.

2. Digital vs Print formatA printed magazine has the obvious advantage of that’s what everybody’s used to. Turning the pages is so enjoyable that even online magazine designers try their best to simulate the feeling.

But it also has some obvious disadvantages. The number of pages is limited by the cost of the maga-zine: 500 pages magazines are expensive mainly due to their production and distribution cost. A digital magazine on the other hand can truly be a global magazine. You can distribute it all over the world in a matter of seconds. The reader can enjoy it from his computer, laptop, tablet, mobile phone or e-book reader. He is absolutely free to choose his preferable method of reading, he can even print it.

Another great advantage of the online magazine is that it can play videos. The 911 attacks all your senses, be it an old air-cooled one or the latest 991 Carrera S. A printed magazine captures just the image and fails completely to stimulate the hair on the back of your neck by the sound of a 911 engine reverberating back from the walls of a tunnel for instance.

Last, but not least is the obvious advantage of the instant connection between the reader and the advertised company. A reader of a printed magazine has to quit reading, get his mobile phone/tablet/laptop, establish an internet connection, type the advertised company’s name and Google it or type the direct link he sees on the page of the magazine in order to get more information or buy something. What he usually does is make a mental reminder to check it later, something he almost never does. All this is so last year. Our digital magazine has direct links to your webpage, so all the reader has to do is point his finger and touch the screen or point his mouse and click. Instant access is the key to successful advertising and that's exactly what we're aiming for.

3. Why you should participate in 911@50 magazine

--

75%

911@50 is not a regular Porsche magazine. Readers enjoy their monthly magazines and then put them away. This magazine will be a point of reference that the reader will read several times. It will also be his guide regarding Porsche servicing, insurance and spare parts for months or years to come.

Moreover, the reader will pay much attention to the special classic car section. When it comes to classic Porsches we're all just a bunch of kids. Doctors, lawyers, managers, journalists, Porsche owners or just fans of the brand, we've all spent and will spend much of our free personal time drooling over early 911s, thinking of how much better our lives would be if we had such a weekend toy. And sooner or later, we do find out, when we manage to realize our dream. That’s exactly when we need all the help we can get from a magazine, trying to keep our beloved possession in prime condition.

Also, because you will reach a highly targeted audience of Porsche owners and enthusiasts who are renowned for their brand loyalty.

75% of Porsche owners go ahead and buy another Porsche when they decide to buy another car. You’re the ones helping them keep their dream alive. According to surveys, readers have a more favour-able view of a company or brand when it advertises, especially if it does advertise in their favourite magazine. And we’re aiming that the 911@50 will be their favourite magazine.

According to many marketing agencies’ studies, advertisements on the internet is something people hate. Advertisements in magazines on the other hand is something people like and look forward to checking out. That’s exactly why you should choose to advertise with us. The 911@50 might be an online publication, but it is a digital magazine so readers will enjoy the advertisements as part of the experience and use them as sources of information. They’re not some pop-up nuances that they try to get rid of as soon as possible. That’s also why we see you, the advertised companies, as part of our tribute, part of the 911 experience and legacy that we’ re paying tribute to.

Another advantage of our magazine is that it narrows down the required steps needed from the reader in order to visit your shop or website and placing his order or making a deal with you. Just a click or touch away from you either through your online shop or directly to your call centre (via Skype).

0The most comprehensive tribute to the 911

We have a rich history in publications. In 1523 the ancestor of our CEO, Varino Favorino published a monumental 900-page catalogue in Rome: The “Etymologicum Magnum, Sive Thesaurus Universae Linguae Graecae ex Multis Variisque Autoribus Collectus”. It was the first dictionary of the Greek language which, at the time, was the commercial language of the Byzantine Empire relevant to today's English language.

It was an astonishing achievement at the time. In 1801 the Varino’s Lexicon - a new 734- page edition was published in Venice, this time under a new name: Dictionarium Magnum ac Perutile Varini Phavorini Camertis Nucerini Episcopi with the help of a major sponsor, Ekaterina Alexeeva, best known as Catherine The Great, Empress of Russia.

After the decease of Varino Favorino, the Varino family moved from central Italy to Constantinople (Istanbul) which was the political, technological and cultural center of the world. After the conquest of the Byzantine Empire by the Ottomans, Varino family moved to Greece. Almost 500 years later, Giorgio Varino is still in the publishing business. After a 20-year career in the Automotive Press, he founded a Publishing Company in Greece and published Bestever Magazine, Luxury Boat & SUV and the Sea World Alma-nac. After a decade in Greece he moved the company to Cyprus and with the cooperation of Kansevelli Enterprises Ltd moved ahead into International Publications. The era of printed magazines has elapsed. Online publications in digital format with extensive media is the future of publica-tions. Once again we are using the available technology and resources for the creation of a monumental magazine as a tribute to the sports car that is considered to be the best of all time. We call it the 911@50.

Giorgio Varino is CEO & Managing Director, responsible for the design of 911@50. He is the one taking care of every little detail, so the rest of us can boast that our magazine is designed as if “Porsche approved”.

Nick Marinopoulos is the Managing Editor of Porsche 911@50. He is the car nut of our team. He lives and breathes gasoline and once in a while comes up with brilliant ideas like the 911 global digital magazine.

Our editorial team did smoke on start-up, just like Porsche’s legendary flat-six, due to the vast amount of research that was -and still is- involved with our project. They now run smoothly thanks to their vast experience and passion.
