MPO Programs
• SFY 14 Program totals $188m

• Surface Transportation Program (STP) – finances wide
variety of multi-modal transportation maintenance and
operational improvements – on Federal-aid system (except
bridges and off road multi-modal facilities)

pedestrian/bicycle projects
• Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) –

Metroparks - $2.25 mThe Metro Parks Program provides state funds for park drives or park roads within the boundaries of county parks.

To be eligible for federal HSIP funding a project must correct or improve an identified hazardous road section, intersection, or bridge location or feature or address a highway safety problem.

county roads only
To be eligible for federal STP funding a project must be located
on a Federal –aid roadway, with exception of bridges

Safe Routes to School- $4 mProvides federal funds to enable and encourage children in grades K-8, including those with disabilities, to walk or bicycle to school.
Urban PavingFunds eligible surface treatment and resurfacing projects on state and US routes within municipal corporations.
Safety - $102MDedicated funds for engineering improvements at high-crash or severe crash locations across the state. Funds can be used to improve safety on any public road.

Eligible Entities
Any community with ODOT approved School Travel
Plan.
In Ohio, SRTS Projects are also eligible within MPO
areas under the TA program.
– Our intention is to partner with MPO’s on some
of these projects.
ODOT spends about $72 million annually on
projects and programs that address high and severe
crash locations on any public road.
