In today’s Gospel Jesus is quite clear in his message: “bear fruit or be cut down.” This Lent we are called to cultivate and fertilize our spiritual lives through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

How Do We Abstain?

Traditional Abstinence This is the practice of refraining from meat & meat products.

Abstinence as Penance Entering fully into the spirit of the Lenten Fast and the Paschal Fast, we are also encouraged to abstain from other foods, practices or activities.

Age Guidelines for Abstinence Abstinence is to be practiced by all who are 14 years of age and older on Fridays.

For those of you that haven't attended Virtus Training we will be having a session March 16th, at 6:00PM in the Blue Room. Anyone who would like to participate in any activities here at Saint Casimir School MUST be VIRTUS trained and up to date. This includes Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, or anyone over the age of 18, who has contact with our students. If you are unable to attend one of our classes you are welcome to attend one of the many classes offered throughout the Diocese. These can be found on the Diocese of Gary website, www.dcgary.org/.
