2014 Awards & Honors.CHAMPIONS OF CHANGEIn June, Jill Rizika, TE’s Executive Director, was honored as one of 16 White House Reentry and Employment Champions of Change. Champions of Change is an opportunity for the White House to feature individuals across the nation doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their community. Per the White House, “The Champions have distinguished themselves through their extraordinary dedication and hard work to help those with criminal records reenter society with dignity and viable employment opportunities.”

PATHWAYS TO WORKAlso in June, Towards Employment was one of 17 organizations awarded a US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration grant of $2,000,000 (over 39 months) to create career pathways for individuals coming home from incarceration via work release or halfway house programs.

TOP WORKPLACE TE was named a Plain Dealer Top Workplace. Conducted by national firm WorkplaceDynamics, this is a list of the top 150 workplaces in Northeast Ohio based on employee nominations and feedback.

TEAM NEO AWARDSOn July 9, Towards Employment was awarded the 2014 Team NEO Economic Development Plus Award for its leadership of WorkAdvance, a regional workforce collaboration. WorkAdvance was nominated by NYC Center for Economic Opportunity.

PILLAR AWARD Jill Rizika, Executive Director, was a recipient of a Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service in December 2014. She was honored as Executive Director of the Year. Presented by Smart Business Magazine, the Pillar Awards honor organizations and individuals committed to making a difference in NEO.
