Workshop Description

The oil and gas industry in Asia Pacific has come a long way in supporting gender diversity and increasing female participation, as demonstrated in a recent report.1 There are several examples of how gender diversity is having positive impacts on business outcomes – in the nature of revenue, profit, employee satisfaction, stakeholder engagement and innovation.

Discussion will focus on the ideas and strategies for continuance and improvement of gender diversity in the industry.

The panel discussion will be followed by round-table discussions that will stimulate dialogue on what attracts, engages and retains young professional women in the oil and gas industry.

Statistics show that Asia has the highest percentage of female petroleum engineering graduates entering the workforce, however the retention of these talents often suffers when reaching the middle of their career cycle. This breakout session will discuss how the industry can increase the retention of talents by providing support during the transitions between early-career and mid-career, and from technical to manager type positions. The discussion will examine the ideas and strategies encouraging gender diversity within the industry, as well as what more could be done.

Workshop ResultsIt is the intent of this workshop to publicly document the outcomes of the discussions to help progress the industry’s thinking and actions in this critical area of gender diversity in the workplace.

Attendance Certificate:All attendees will receive an attendance certificate attesting to their participation at the Workshop. This certificate will be provided in exchange for a completed Workshop Attendee Survey Form.

Continuing Education Units:This Workshop qualifies for SPE Continuing Education Units (CEU) at the rate of 0.1 CEU per hour of the Workshop.
