Dear Colleagues,

It is a pleasure for us to invite you to the Multidisciplinary Management

of Cancers meeting to be held March 18-20, 2016. The 2016 program

will represent a collaborative effort of expert clinicians from Stanford

Cancer Institute, University of California, Davis, University of California,

San Francisco, and with sponsorship from the Association of Northern

California Oncologists.

Based on the recurrent enthusiasm for a case oriented approach we once

again will be tackling some of the toughest cases, heavily relying upon

audience participation and feedback. Community oncologists will be

represented on the panels as well. With that in mind, we remind you that we

look forward to your submission of real cases to discuss. Using our online

case submission form, please submit cases for us by the end of December

2015. We will select cases from among those submitted for presentation.

Our primary goal of this meeting, as always, is to provide learners with the

latest new developments in multidisciplinary management of cancers.

And while this year’s format will be similar to the format of prior programs

at Silverado and Stanford, we also expect to add at least one new panel,

focusing on developmental therapeutics.

Space is limited so register early. We look forward to your participation

and to the rebirth of this meeting at its original home, Silverado.

Sincerely,

A. Dimitrios Colevas, MD Conference Lead Director Associate Professor of Medicine (Oncology) and by courtesy, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Stanford University School of Medicine

Conference InformationMultidisciplinary Management of Cancers: A Case-based ApproachCONFERENCE DESCRIPTIONThis conference will present the most current information on multidisciplinary

approaches in clinical oncology, and will consist of tumor board cases on breast, CNS,

cutaneous malignancies, developmental therapeutics, gastrointestinal, genitourinary,

hematological malignancies, lymphoma, supportive oncology & survivorship, and

thoracic cancers. The tumor board cases will be presented by faculty, with discussion

by a panel of surgical, radiation and medical oncologists from Stanford, UCSF, UC

Davis and the practice community.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis course is designed for national physicians specializing in medical, surgical

and radiation oncology as well as nurses, pharmacists and other allied health

professionals who work with cancer patients.

STATEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL NEED Because the standard of care in oncology changes rapidly with new discoveries,

there is a need for frequent updates of practical relevance for the practicing

oncologist. This conference will emphasize standard of care issues for various

cancers including diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making and optimal

approaches to supportive and palliative care. The faculty at the Stanford Cancer

Institute, UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and UCSF Helen Diller Family

Comprehensive Cancer Center, put a premium on optimal multidisciplinary

modeling treatment and education of the practicing oncologist to ensure they

are up to date. The American Society for Clinical Oncology recommends this

multidisciplinary meeting format. This symposium and its faculty specifically

address the clinical guidelines set forth by the National Comprehensive

Cancer Network.

LEARNING OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Develop multidisciplinary treatment strategies based on national clinical practice

guidelines in oncology in order to improve quality of care for cancer patients.

2. Counsel patients on pharmacological and psychiatric strategies to manage pain.

3. Discuss relevant clinical trials with cancer patients and refer appropriately.

4. Appropriately refer cancer patients to palliative care.

CONFERENCE FORMATThe format of the conference is oriented around tumor board cases. We will use an

interactive group response system with an electronic keypad for each participant

during the case discussions. We encourage you to submit cases for discussion.

CALL FOR CASE SUBMISSIONSRegistrants are encouraged to submit a case or cases for the panels to discuss.

Deadline for case submissions is Friday, December 30, 2015. The organizing

committee and panel chairs will select cases. Please visit the course website for

the case submission form and a sample case submission:
