The little boy was so covetous of his sister’s new

puppy that he begged for one of his own.

Covetous:(adj.) Greedy, desire to have more

than deserved.

In the Victorian Era, destitute children lived in

the streets.

Destitute:(adj.) Living in complete poverty

The police chief implored residents to stay inside and lock their doors, until the

escaped criminal was caught.

Implored:(v.) asked or begged

After he lost all his money, he became a misanthrope and

doesn’t trust anyone.

Misanthrope:(n.) A person who hates or distrusts everyone
