This story is from an illustrated book which was originally designed for the amusement and instruction of young people at Christmas. The story incorporates a range of festive themes as the storyteller remembers one of his favourite family Christmases. The book is housed in the Briggs Collection at The University of Nottingham and this digitised chapter is part of the University’s online Advent calendar 2011.
