Financial Commitment to Our Residents UMRC has a separately governed charitable arm, the United Methodist Retirement Communities Foundation, which reflects our mission to promote the wellness, dignity and independence of seniors by supporting the residents, staff and communities we serve. The Foundation’s primary focus since its inception has been funding benevolent care – providing financial support to allow qualified assisted living residents at our Chelsea campus to remain in their homes, even if they outlive their savings.

A Strong Spiritual Component Chelsea Retirement Community is a faith-based organization. Ecumenical church services are conducted each Sunday, and our staff chaplain is available throughout the week to offer spiritual guidance, comfort and support.

Around five years ago, after tiring of the burdens and costs of home ownership, Dick and Jean decided to become residents of Chelsea Retirement Community. While they were apprehensive at first, once they moved into their independent living residence, they knew they made the right decision.

“This is truly a wonderful place. Our home is clean, secure and, best of all, maintenance-free. We’ve made tremendous new friends, the staff is great, and there is always something to do – no matter your interest,” explained Jean.

Over the years, Dick and Jean have utilized Chelsea Retirement Community’s assisted living services to enhance their lifestyles. “We still lead active, fulfilling lives, but we get the help we need – as much or as little as that might be at any given time – from the wonderful staff here. We’ve been comforted over the years knowing that, while we wanted to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible, we always had a strong support network available to us,” said Jean.

“In addition,” said Dick “we both really enjoy nature, and there is no shortage of natural beauty to explore

and appreciate on the campus.”

As anyone who is facing – or caring for someone who is confronted with – the unique challenges associated with memory loss can attest, special solutions are required to address these challenges. Melody is a resident care attendant and specialist in dealing with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care at Towsley Village, Chelsea Retirement Community’s one-of-a-kind memory care treatment center. She is just one of the many dedicated, attentive, highly trained caregivers who inspire confidence and work tirelessly to ensure that our residents receive the best care possible.

“The thing that makes Towsley Village so unique is that we treat the whole person. We offer world class medical treatment – that’s a given. But we also make sure that residents fully enjoy each day by offering a lively, balanced schedule of programs, classes and events,” said Melody.
