Cross Dipole in Vertical Well with Formation Anisotropy

Petrolog interpretaion shows 10% anisotropy ratio with direction of principle stress at 36 deg West. Consistent with CMI breakout Schmidt plot.

Compact Cross Dipole Field Testing

• Phase 1 - Testing of CXD against MDA in test wells and benign commercial wells (DTS 80 to 480 µs/ft)

– 5 test wells logged with different tool configurations

• Phase 2 - Testing the CXD in more difficult environments and pushing the tool to the specified operating envelop.

– 20 commercial wells logged to date with no lost time and excellent results

How Does the Impulse Compact Well Shuttle Work?

• Memory Compact Tool Combo is inserted into drillpipe at surface

• Drillpipe is tripped to TD

• Pressure pulses are applied to release combo and pump out into openhole

• Tools are retained by a collar in the BHA

• Surface mud pressure is recorded to verify tool deployment

• Log data is recorded into memory while tripping out

• Digital time to depth recording similar to LWD

• Memory data is down loaded at surface and depth matched
