A COURSE IN EXPONENTIAL FUNDRAISING

“This course is a breakthrough in the practice of fundraising.

I can’t imagine anything that could be more helpful in such a short amount of time

and have such profound impact.”– MATT GOLDMAN, CO-FOUNDER

BLUE MAN GROUP AND BLUE SCHOOL

It’s time to look at fundraising through a new lens. A Course in Exponential Fundraising offers a total rethinking of the traditional fundraising dynamic – moving from transactional relationships to transformational ones. Its effect is revolutionary for nonprofit leaders, their partners, and their entire organizations.

A Course in Exponential Fundraising recasts fundraising as a collaborative relationship between organizations and their philanthropic partners that is designed from the start to be co-creative and generative. The course offers a new strategy built on growth and continuous resource flow, not just a one-time transaction.

Collaboration and mutual accountability break down walls between donors and organizations, creating a path for natural growth. As this new philosophy spreads, you’ll find yourself transformed as a leader, and you’ll see similar transformations in your organization and the wider world you affect.

Over the year, the course delivers:

» A comprehensive new approach to fundraising

» A personalized roadmap for implementing new practices at your organization

» A year of ongoing engagement and support

» Rigorous analysis of your results

» Partnerships with other nonprofit leaders who are reshaping the field of fundraising and its impact on the nonprofit sector

CURRICULUM

A Course in Exponential Fundraising is a year-long engagement designed to introduce nonprofit leaders to a new model of fundraising that is more connective, flexible, and resource rich. The course begins with an intensive week-long program on campus at Harvard University. Subsequent in-person and web-based meetings will take place throughout the year to assess where you are in relation to your goals, help you make any needed adjustments in your personalized roadmap, and continue to deepen your practice.

This program is led by Senior Research Fellow Jennifer McCrea and supported by Harvard University faculty and distinguished philanthropic leaders. Participants will be immersed in classroom sessions and case study discussions. Small group conversations and experiential “workshop” sessions will enable you to engage directly with your peers, solve problems, and discuss how exponential fundraising can be applied in your own organization. Through course offerings, peer-learning, and team support, the program will allow you to:

» Understand what exponential fundraising is and its power to transform people and organizations

» Activate a more intentional approach to partnership-building and the collaborative fundraising process

» Identify prospective leadership partners, capture their attention, build a collaborative partnership, activate resources, and deepen their commitment

» Understand common mistakes and obstacles that block resource flow and success

» Set specific goals for implementation of exponential fundraising principles and practices in your organization

» Form a community of inquiry to explore the principles of exponential fundraising and its impact on individual organizations and the wider nonprofit sector

Because of the breakthrough nature of the course material, the cohort will be limited to a highly curated group of nonprofit leaders who are interested not just in improving their organization’s fundraising results, but in reshaping the entire field of fundraising. To achieve an overall organizational mind shift, we encourage executive directors, board chairs, and chief development officers to consider applying as a team.

Applicants should be:

» Leaders in nonprofit organizations, board members or philanthropists in organizations with annual operating revenue of $500,000 or more

» Have an in-depth understanding of their organization’s challenges
