A day in the life of Year 1

Where is your Year 1 learning journey likely to

take you?

Our Theme Learning

Theme is fantastic because we

learn lots of exciting things. We

have lots of interesting school

themes like Don’t Judge a Book

and Whatever Next. We do lots

of writing in theme and we have

got much better because we are

very good at looking at our

targets. We get to dress up on

special event days.

We started learning

French and Arabic in Year

1. We like learning new

words in different

languages.

We really enjoy getting

Magic Moments in

assembly. The teacher

chooses a person each

week who has done

something special and

they get a certificate.

Book Week

We looked at The Paperbag Princess in Book Week and we

wrote alternative endings to the story to change the char-

acters. There were three winners from Year 1. We came

to school dressed as knights and princesses which was

really fun.

Eco Week

Part of our Student Voice group are

the students who help make sure our

school is eco friendly. In Eco Week we

had to dress up in green, collect and

bring in lots of paper from home and

watch it being shredded by our new

recycling company. In the morning we

had the challenge of seeing how many

laps we could do around the sports

field. We also had to switch all the

lights off and not use anything electric.

Festive Cracker

We had a big performance on the field and sang lots

of songs. Afterwards there were lots of stalls and Year

1 made reindeer food to sell. There was also splat the

teacher and we got to throw wet sponges.

Special events that stick in our minds from this year are…

Where will your Year 1 learning

journey take you?

We meet our new class mates in September. It

does not matter if you’re new because we will

always make you feel welcome.

We have ‘move up

day’ to meet our

new class teachers

We celebrate National Day as

a whole school.

We love expressing

ourselves in Arts

Week

We all participate in

our houses for our

Year 1 sports day

In Spring Term we

have our Phase Production

We begin to learn

about our new exciting

topics and will go on a

topic related trip.

We loved Arts Week because we

got to learn about Peter Pan and

make clay models. We then used

animation clay to make a film of

the story.

During our Don’t Judge a Book learning

we learned about similarities and

differences between people. We learnt

about some amazing people and

created art work with our bodies.

A day in the life of Year 2

Where is your Year 2 learning journey likely to

take you?

Our Theme Learning

Our theme learning in Year 2 has

taken us to some wonderful

places! Our learning about habi-

tats took us to the Aquarium for

an ‘access all areas’ tour, and

our learning on plants as part of

‘new beginnings’ took us to the

Gaffur Tree Foundation. This was

so exciting as we helped to plant

new gaffur trees to help improve

their numbers and prevent them

from Extinction.

‘I loved learning about

Cinde-boy as part of our

‘don't judge a book’

theme. My really enjoyed

making masks for our

masquerade ball. We used

‘mod-roc’, ribbon and se-

quins to make our masks

look really special.’

Sports day

‘I loved taking part in

sports day. It was so fun

being with all the people

in my house and compet-

ing. It didn't matter were

we came as we all got

points for our house!’

This year we have just loved...

I loved learning about Friction in Science.

Our challenge was to get ‘Cinde-boy’ to

the football match as quickly as we could.

We had to choose different materials for

the car to travel along and see which one

the car travelled quickest on.

We took on the role of detectives when

our class bears all disappeared! We had

to try to solve the mystery by following

clues. We even interviewed the possible

suspects! Lucky our bears were all

found safe and sound!

A day in the life of Year 3

Where is your Year 3 learning journey likely to

take you?

Our Theme Learning

Theme is fantastic and exciting

because we learn through fun

activities. This year we loved our

Space Day and Super Hero Day

which were to teach us about

pushing our own limits. We get

to dress up on these special

event days. We also have a great

time learning new things by go-

ing to different classes and expe-

riencing different lessons taught

by our Year 3 teachers.

We started using iPads in

Term 3, it is really fun to

help us with all our les-

sons. It is an enjoyable

way to learn!

Things that we have real-

ly enjoyed this year are

our swim gala, our trips

to make our learning

better and performing to

our friends and families.

Hetty Feather

During our learning of play scripts, we went to see the

tremendous show Hetty Feather. This helped us with

our learning because it showed us how to be confident

in our own performances and showed us about stage

directions and character voices.

Eco Week

Part of our Student Voice group are the stu-

dents who help make sure our school is eco

friendly. In Eco Week we had to dress up in

green, collect and bring in lots of

paper from home and watch it being

shredded by our new recycling company. In

the morning we had the challenge of seeing

how many laps we could do around the

sports field. We also had to switch all the

lights off and not use anything electric.

Trip to Ibn Battuta Mall

We went on an outstanding trip to Ibn Battuta Mall

as part of our learning about explorers. We had to

find information about all the different countries he

travelled to.

Special events that stick in our minds from this year are…

We loved Arts Week because

we got to learn about the

famous artist Hundertwasser.

We learned facts about him

and his style of art.

We are very lucky to have Kings’

Events who are parents that help

organise things for us like party

days. This year we had a Frozen

afternoon, we had an outside

cinema and we

loved our beach

party disco!

A day in the life of Year 4

Where is your Year 4 learning journey likely to

take you?

We had our first residential trip.

It was awesome!

We had our own little cabins in

the middle of a stone desert. At

night we had a BBQ and roasted

marshmallows. We stayed there

one night and did lots of

activities. We went mountain

biking, we did archery, rock

climbing, abseiling and team

games. We even had some free

time which we could spend with

our friends.

We work with iPads in

our lessons to make our

learning

really come to life.

Things that we have

really enjoyed in Year 4

are the survival day and

creating our own

museum which our

parents

visited.

Year 4 trip to play nation

We were learning about forces so we went on a trip to Play Nation. We

played bowling, did the I fly, took a risk to go on the sky trail or climbing

wall and we played soccer. We learnt how forces can push us and pull us.

Arts Week in Year 4

In arts week each year group had a

different styled art that they had to do.

Year 4 did pop art in the theme of Andy

Warhol. Arts week also had lots of per-

formances such as musicians who

played an instrument, clubs (dancing

club, singing club that did shows) and

some teacher performances.

Trip to Dubai museum and the creek

First we got onto a boat and rode to the museum.

The reason why we went was because we were

learning about pearl diving. In the boat they gave

us juices! And it was really fun! The museum was

really interesting. We watched videos and saw the

coins they used in the olden days.

Our exciting residential trip

We had a great experience and

this what we did. On one of the

nights we roasted marshmallows

by the campfire. We stayed there

for two nights and three days,

although we were already tired

by the first hour. We went sand

boarding, it was really fun. we

did archery, rock climbing, ab-

seiling and team building . We

even had some free time which

we could spend with our friends.

leadership roles. To get

ready for Year 6 e.g.

monitors.

We really enjoyed Year 5

Science day where we

has loads of fun

experimenting on

different materials.

Book Week in Year 5

In book week each year group had a

different styled theme that they had

to do. Year 5 dressed up as medieval

characters. That week we also

performed stories. We preformed the

stories: Beowulf, Sir Percival.

Special events that stick in our minds from this year are…

International day

During international day, everyone in the whole school dressed

up in their country colours. We did activities related

to countries.

Arts week

When arts week happened children got given

a styled art theme. We did games and activi-

ties related to our art topic. At the end of the

week each year group would go to a special

place to paint their final piece. The children

in Kings’ practised hard to achieve a good

piece of art.

We get to become leaders!

There are so many opportunities

to become a leader in Year 6. At

the start of the year the roles of

Head Boy and Girl along with

House and Vice Captains are

decided which is really exciting.

We also get to apply to become

animal keepers, FS helpers,

digital leaders, ICT helpers. The

roles allow us to develop our

leadership skills, it’s great!

We use ipads in our

lessons to support and

extend our learning. It

has really helped us take

ownership of our

learning.

There are so many fun

events that happen in

Year 6. We really have

really enjoyed supporting

the younger children

during these events too!

Y

Our Class Assemblies

Each class gets the chance to showcase their learning to

their parents through our class assemblies. This year the 4

different Year 6 classes have produced some really exciting

and informative assemblies.

Our Big Business Project

Our learning started off with a bang

this year when we were given the

opportunity to become

entrepreneurs. As a year group we

designed, developed and sold our

very own calendar based on silhouette

pictures of famous cityscapes. We

even created the silhouettes of

famous buildings using our bodies!

Our Production

At the end of Year 6 we had the chance to take part in

our very own production. This year it was called Move It

and involved lots of singing, dancing and acting. It was a

great way to end the year!
