CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION You, O Lord, have called us to enter into your gates with joyful thanksgiving, yet how often we
grumble and complain. You have blessed us in many aspects of our lives, yet so often, we lack a basic gratitude for all that is wonderful in creation and in life. Restore us to joy through worship, to grace through living, and to love in all of our relationships. Remind us in all of our
living of the tremendous, heart warming gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, Our Lord, and Redeem-er. It is in His name that we ask this. (Silence for personal confession)

of our worship services. The Second Mile Center (SMC) is located at 18391 Morang, Detroit, MI 48205. In 2006, the Second Mile Center began as a ministry of the Presbyterian Women of Detroit. Approximately 100 children in that local area utilize the center’s after-school programs, summer programs, and Monday Night Community Dinners. The Center also houses a food pantry and a clothing pantry. Last year alone, the SMC provided close to 13,000 meals for local children and their families. Your prayers and support of this ministry are greatly appreciated!

Church Wide Concerns
Please pray for Mtenthera, our sister church in Malawi,
Africa, as they are going through a me of great transi-
on. December 7th was Rev. S.S. Banda’s last Sunday
serving as the minister at Mtenthera.
Please pray for holy wisdom to be poured out upon the
congregaon as they seek a new pastor, and please pray
that the synod and the Presbytery who assist in these
ma6ers would be led by God’s Holy Spirit to discover
the right individual for this me.
Please keep Rev. Banda, his wife Stella, and their 7 chil-
dren your prayers as they also experience this me of
great transion.
Thank you for your on-going prayers for our sister
congregaon!

Our Sympathies
FPCP is working closely with our Presbytery and its program for
foster children. Our prayer ministry can help by praying for a
special child in foster care. This month, we are praying for
Janelle, age 16. Janelle has won awards for her drawing and
singing, but would like to be a baker or chef someday. When
she’s with her friends, she likes going to the movies, something
she’d like to enjoy with her forever family, along with going on
vacaons. Janelle took part in our match party in January and
was lots of fun. More informaon is available at h6p://
Dear Church Family - Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you for the beauful flowers
delivered on Sunday. They brought a smile to my face and
cheer to an otherwise dark room. Thank you for your
connued support and the outpouring of love and encour-
agement I’ve received before and aAer my surgery.

Next Earth Care Team Meeting The FPCP Earth Care Team had its first meeting in February. At that meeting, those gathered reviewed the PCUSA application which needs to be completed and submitted to become an Earth Care Congregation. It is an extensive application which covers four major areas: Education, Facilities, Worship and Outreach. There are a myriad of sub-categories within each of those four areas. Those present agreed to divide the application up amongst ourselves and research each area within our own church to find out what we are currently doing at First Pres. in regard to environmen-tal care. We will meet again on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Dining Room to follow-up on our research. We will also discuss the possibility of planting a native plant garden, butterfly gar-den and/or vegetable garden on church property. This will be a timely discussion if we want some-thing in place for the planting season. We hope you will join us at the next Earth Care Team meeting as we look further at our own church and how we can continue to be good stewards of this gift God has given us. All ages are encouraged to attend.

FPCP is working to help support the almost 13,000 children in Michigan that live in foster care. There are many ways our congregation can help the various organizations that work with these children. This month we are focusing on Vista Maria It is a residential facility that supports teenage girls in foster care. They appreciate donations of cosmetic bags (Clinque, Lancome etc) and make up samples. Dona-tions of gently used or brand new paperbacks in the girls’ favorite genres and appropriate for ages 11-18 are always welcome. Donations may be placed in the bins downstairs and a complete list is posted on the Presbyterian Women’s board. More information is available at VistaMaria.org.

Women’s Book Discussion Tramp for the Lord by Corrie ten Boom
Monday, March 23 @ 7:00 PM, Chapel
In 1940, Corrie ten Boom was living with her father and sister above their watch
shop in Haarlem, Holland—and when their country was invaded, this devoutly
Christian family provided sanctuary for persecuted Jews. Before long, the Nazis
captured Corrie and her family. They were sent to a concentration camp, where Corrie lost
both her sister and father. But remarkably, throughout this turbulent time, Corrie sustained the
faith in God that helped her become one of the most beloved evangelists of her time.
Tramp for the Lord continues Corrie ten Boom's extraordinary journey of hope following the
events recounted in her bestseller The Hiding Place. From her near-destitute days in postwar
New York to heart-stopping adventures in Africa, Corrie's inspirational life story proves that
miracles do happen.
Come join in a discussion of this amazing story! Sign-up on the P.W. bulletin board.
