Attached is a copy of t h e t e x t of a proposed r e s o l u t i o n whereby t h e Board of Trustees f o r t h e S t a t e Colleges extend t h e i r e x i s t i n g po l i cy concerning t r a n s f e r of s tuden t s who have earned an a s s o c i a t e degree.

The proposed r e s o l u t i o n comes t o you with a request t h a t it be presented t o t h e S t a t e College Board f o r approval.

The proposed r e s o l u t i o n was placed before t h e Board f o r S t a t e Academic Awards on t h e recommendation of a s p e c i a l subcommittee of t h e Board's Faculty of Consulting Examiners and was approved i n p r i n c i p l e by unanimous v o t e a t a meeting on December 11, 1975. A copy of t h e Board's a c t i o n is a l s o a t tached.

The approval was given " in p r i n c i p l e and sub jec t t o f i n a l act ion" r a t h e r than o u t r i g h t i n order t o f a c i l i t a t e e d i t o r i a l o r t echn ica l changes. Individual members of t h e Board expressed g rea t enthusiasm and asked t h a t t h e following statement be recorded i n t h e minutes:

That t h e Board a t t a c h e s p a r t i c u l a r importance t o t h e es tab l i sh - ment of a r t i c u l a t i o n agreements wi th t h e s t a t e un ive rs i ty , state col leges , and o the r baccalaureate-granting i n s t i t u t i o n s ; hence t h a t every e f f o r t should be made t o e s t a b l i s h s u i t a b l e agreements a s soon a s poss ib le .

The Board be l i eves t h a t t h e r e s o l u t i o n o f f e r s a double advantage i n t h a t e x t e r n a l degree graduates w i l l be assured of access t o Upper Divis ion programs wi th in t h e pub l ic system while t h e rece iv ing i n s t i t u t i o n s w i l l b e n e f i t from a uniform b a s i s f o r admitt ing such graduates.
