Changing the world is not a question of age, but mindset according to Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever.
Paul has been a leader in the corporate world for 35 years, and has used his background to build a new movement in this space...one that involves a commitment to social good.
125 years ago Unilever’s founder, Lord William Lever built a business around the sale and distribution of soap that not only proved to be profitable and sustainable, but which also played a pivotal role in transforming the health of Victorian Britain’s poor. Since then, Unilever has always strongly believed that the purpose of business is not to take from, but to serve society.
The “Bible” for Social Entrepreneurs
A recent report stated that 62 percent of surveyed millennials “only want to work for an organization
that delivers social and environmental impacts.”
Increasingly millennials want to work for companies where they can make a difference, positively influence others, and ultimately leave this world a better
place than they found it. That’s a life with a purpose.
THE GEM 2015 / 2016 GLOBAL REPORTThe majority of entrepreneurs worldwide are fueled by opportunity rather than necessity. They make up 78 percent of those in innovation-driven economies, and 69 percent in factor and efficiency-driven economies.

The Transition to the Social Enterprise
Definition of Social Entrepreneur:
Bornstein (1998)A social entrepreneur is a path breaker with a powerful new idea who combines visionary and real-world problem-solving creativity, has a strong ethical fiber, and is totally possessed by his or her vision for change.
Brinckerhoff (2009)A social entrepreneur is someone who takes reasonable risk on behalf of the people their organization serves.
Leadbeater (1997)Social entrepreneurs are entrepreneurial, innovative, and “transformatory” individuals who are also: leaders, storytellers, people managers, visionary opportunists and alliance builders. They recognize a social problem and organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change.
Definition of a Change AgentEmployed by a company or organization to change organization and management. She/he recognizes the opportunity for change, identifies the best approach, and makes that change happen….

The success of any kind of social epidemic is heavily dependent on the involvement of people with a particular and rare set of social gifts.
Malcom Gladwell describes in his book, “The Tipping Point“
Change is not dependent upon their skills, but also the culture in which they exist. You cannot be a connector if you are in an environment where people do not want to come together. So although a change agent can trigger growth in an organization, the culture in which they exist or are brought into has a huge bearing on their success. For example. if a school embodies itself as a true learning organization, change will happen much quicker.

Vodafone & SafaricomM-Pesa—which lets people who lack bank accounts use their smartphones to save and transfer money, receive pensions, and pay bills—was a worthwhile idea but didn’t imagine it would transform the regional economy.
GoogleIs there a greater force against ignorance than Google? The search giant’s knowledge-bearing tentacles extend to every cranny of the globe, empowering its billion-plus users with information of all varieties—and in 159 languages. Processing over 100 billion queries a month, Google has so profoundly changed our world that it’s hard to remember life before it
ToyotaSeptember, Toyota speeds into the unknown once again as it launches the Toyota Mirai, the world’s first mass-produced fuel-cell vehicle. Powered by hydrogen and emitting nothing but drops of water, it could be even more eco-friendly than its electric-vehicle peers. Prius
