Medicine entry is a challenging journey which requires an exceptional UCAT ANZ score as well as ATAR. A small percentage of the student population are born with the propensity for academia, are ambitious and remarkably mature students. Most students need guidance, support and training which is what UCAT Education is all about. Before the introduction of UCAT ANZ in Aus-tralia and New Zealand, the undergraduate medicine entry test was the UMAT test, known as the Universi-ty’s Medical Admissions Test, which was a difficult and highly untrainable test. Unfortunately, at the time parents who wished to provide their children with every opportunity to achieve high had little choice and had to rely on ex-pensive college or private tutoring. Our UCAT Educa-tion team believe that medicine entry training should not be overpriced and should not be taken advantage of. However these companies now claim to provide UCAT ANZ training. UCAT ANZ is a highly disparate exam to UMAT in both format and question type. The problem in the past was that parents did not know that UMAT was impossible to train for, and in the eyes of a third party educator, miraculously changing their program to UCAT ANZ is an unfortunate practice that sullies pre-medical education because the courses are still charged in the hundreds to thousands of dollars. It creates an unfair rift between those who could afford the course and those who do not have the same sup-port or opportunity. We also know for a fact - accord-ing to our research - that most of these students did not gain entry into Medicine nor Dentistry. We find that the claims of these businesses are irresponsible because a student’s academic goal should not be exploited. This is one of the reasons for the inception of UCAT Education - to provide an honest, reliable, organised and inexpensive program that could reach out to many students who possess the ambition and drive for Medicine and Dentistry. We provide oppor-tunities for students from a wide range of socioeco-nomic backgrounds such that they do not fall behind others who can afford expensive tutoring. The tutoring culture in central Sydney is strong but virtually non-existent in other states in Australia and even the outer skirts of New South Wales. That being said, we wish to bring the tutoring, mentoring and support to students at a price that is quite afford-able, with resources and a program that surpasses any other program for UCAT ANZ. We emphasise, inexpensive does not mean

inferior. Our team is a dedicated group of profession-als who are intent on making the world a place where disadvantaged people can have the the same or bet-ter opportunities to untap their potential. This is why we place great importance in our Medical Mentorship Program where you will be men-tored or tutored by your designated medical mentor. We believe that when it comes to medicine entry, too many students and parents are unfortunate-ly misguided and listen to other parents and the prog-ress of other children. We want to remind parents, that their daughter or son is different from them, learn differently from them, and that is why we tailor to the needs of every student individually because they are unique. All this begins with the creation of a student’s own Personal Study Dashboard. Our belief is that there is no point in sitting for UCAT ANZ if your aca-demic studies suffer. This is again tackled by our men-torship program. The mentors have been trained by a well-known educator, Dr Serena Park who has had her own personal success in achieving medicine entry for her own students as well as herself. She has educated and trained our mentors to guide their designated students on studying techniques which also would be beneficial for not only high school but also for univer-sity.

“Our belief that there is no point in sitting forUCAT ANZ if their academic studies suffer.”

The main philosophy of our program is that, as cliche as it sounds: “Practice Makes Perfect”. In 2019, liter-ally 100% of our students were saisfied by our ques-tions, with one student stating explicitly, “They were spot on!” This gives us confidence in our question and content development team but we wish to encourage students to begin earlier and learn to time manage their UCAT ANZ studies and their school studies with their guidance of their mentors. UCAT Education conducted much research in the UK where UCAT originated. UCAT in the UK formally known as UKCAT is the same test as UCAT ANZ and is now simply called UCAT. Our team is always prepared to provide honest, quality education as much or more than others would normally pay for. In an ideal world, education would be free but we be-lieve through this program we are able to reach out to so many students who need support for their studies and that we are available for them.

YOUR PERSONAL STUDY DASHBOARD

uniquely his own. In this dashboard he will have access to his his weekly quizzes, share files with his mentor, discuss school work and receive assistance for his school work where needed and of course, access his mock tests when they open at the end of each ses-sion. Our programs are highly organised and struc-tured such that they do not interfere with a student’s academic studies. We believe that continued practice facilitates the student’s chance of gaining a high UCAT ANZ score with this amount of practice. The sooner you join, the better it is for you to improve time management for an exam which pro-vides such little time for 233 questions alongside our Mentorship Program. The ultimate product of UCAT Education is the creation of each student’s Medical Portfolio. This is a dossier that is a collection of not only official docu-ments of the student’s achievements and completion of certain work experience which supports the stu-dent’s application to medicine, but also contains their personal statement or essay that has been created with their mentors and proof-read by our Director of studies. Again, we reinterate, we are not just about UCAT ANZ, we are also about getting you into medicine in the most appropri -ate and effective manner that we can!

So what exactly is UCAT Education? It is an online learning program, as the official UCAT ANZ test is also a computer-based test. You will have weekly access to 233 fresh questions and 25 hours+ of video train-ing that are interspersed throughout the program to strengthen your skills and strategy in any subtest. We also provide suggestions of extracurricu-lar activities and hospital work experience to help students understand the world of medicine. Official documents of participation along with a strong per-sonal statement or essay is another service we provide through mentors. All personal statements are proof-read by our Director of Studies Dr Serena Park. As we have reiterated, our goal is not just about UCAT ANZ, our goal is to get our students into Medicine or Dentistry. UCAT ANZ training is only a part of the services that we provide. To tailor to each each applicant, each student recieves their own Personal Study Dashboard be-cause all students are unique. This is how students are tailored in our program, and their unique academic issues are addressed. As you can see below, this is an example Study Dashboard for John Smith, who is the only one that is able to see this dashboard. It is

+ 233 questions per week for students of all years. This is because this is the same as the number of questions in the true UCAT ANZ Test. The sooner you join, the better and more exposure to questions, which attributed to much of our success in July 2019. The questions are not reduced in standards for young-er students because it should be kept at a consis-tent, realistic level, and expectations should not be lowered. We have more than 50,000+ questions in our bank which allows us to provide more practice to stdents.

+ Your Personal Study Dashboard. This is just for you so that you can have your quizzes organised and find a common ground where you can share files etc with your mentor.

+ 25 hours+ training videos. We have videos which educate strategy and technique for all the five sub-tests of the UCAT ANZ exam taught by Dr Serena Park.

+ Medical mentorship program. This is one our pro-gram’s greatest strengths. Details about what a medi-cal mentor does is explained in greater detail on Page 7 of this booklet. However in a nutshell, the mentor is a mature individual who has a backrground in Medi-cine. They have been trained by Dr Serena Park her-self to help guide students to becoming well-rounded individiuals. To assist them academically with their school work, with any of their UCAT ANZ

questions, for technical support etc, and most impor-tantly to guide students to becoming high achievers by teaching them studying and memorising tech-niques and motivating them to do their assessments exceptionally well.

+ Hospital work experience. This has a dual role. First it enables students to understand or be inspired by the medical field which strengthens their applica-tion. Second it also helps students understand wheth-er they feel suited to the profession.

+ Creation of your own Medical Portfolio. This portfolio is unique to every student and can be used in a multitude of ways. It is constructed together with the student, their medical mentor, our Director of Studies and a number of insitutions and people who are involved in the creation of the portfolio which is used to strengthen your son/daughter’s application to Medicine and Dentistry entry. It is the final product of this program, if completed in full or for at last one year.

+ Organised schedule for UCAT ANZ practice. This is to encourage young students to be able to organ-ise their UCAT ANZ practice questions around their studying schedule. The program is highly organised to improve time management as the test is only 2 hours.

+ Mock Tests. This is a given. Students are provided with Mock Tests at the end of each Session.

3. WHY MENTORSHIP IS VALUABLE

Your UCAT ANZ score does not have much purpose if your academic results are not up to standard. As all our mentors are high achievers, they can help guide you towards academic success. Ask yourself, “Have I recieved full marks for an exam?” “Have I ever topped the grade in a subject?” “Do my grades con-sistently have a rank above 3rd or 5th?” If you have never experienced none of these things, as Dr Serena Park would say, “This is because your studying meth-ods are erroneous or something that you are doing needs fixing.” Dr Park has trained all the medi

cal mentors in person about techniques and strategies in helping students achieve high goals. Mentors help with assessment tasks, English such as proof-reading, editing, teaching mathematicas, chemistry or physics, and a plethora of other subjects. If your mentor does not have the resources, the mentor conglomerate we have have at UCAT Education have resources for all subjects. As we say constantly in this program, “Our goal is not just UCAT ANZ. It is to get you into med-icine.” In order to achieve this, our students need to have guidance from our mentors and our academic team.

THE ROLE OF OUR MENTORS

UCAT Education (with the permission of parents) allow mentors to communicate with their designated stu-dents through a variety of channels. These channels include a direct mobile phone line, Whatsapp, Skype and of course e-mail. Whatsapp is useful because it is more reli-able in sending images. Students often like to send mathematics questions through images such that their mentors could help them by either sending them solu-tions or demonstrating through Skype, how to solve a question in live time is often demonstrated and an explanation is required when helping students under-stand difficult mathematics questions. The privacy of both parties are protected, and when students graduate from UCAT Education, it is mandatory that contact details are deleted. Our cur-rent students enjoy the help of their mentors and find them extremely helpful in terms of their assessments. The purpose of our mentorship program is to provide students who do not have tutors a means to find help and mentorship from people who are high achievers. Moreover, these mentors, acting as long distance tutors help those who do not have access to

people who have the capacity to assist them aca-demically. We believe that our mentors, having been highly trained by our Director of Studies is one the strongest features of our program. This is because of the obvious reason that your academic marks must be exceptional and pristine in Years 11 and 12 (Year 13 for NZ). Our high achieving mentors can help you try to achieve high grades at school. One interesting pattern we found was that those who never had tutoring before actually did exceptionally well at school and overtime their UCAT ANZ practice questions. This is why we know that under the care of our Director of Studies, that our mentorship program is strong and effective. This alllows us to say, “We are not just about UCAT ANZ, we are about getting students into med-icine.” Australia lacks doctors, and our benefactor is excited to assist in helping to create the backbone of our society. When you join UCAT ANZ, make sure you keep a close relationship with your mentor. They are always available to you in the capacity that they can. Ask for their help in achieving high because you can!

4. YOUR MEDICAL PORTFOLIO

Your Medical Portfolio is the ultimate product of you, your mentor and our Director of studies. It is a port-folio that is made over time detailing and containing official documents regarding your hospital work expe-rience, your academic results and references. After any relevant extracurricular activities and work experience you should recieve a formal, official document that proves that you have successfully par-ticipated in that work experience. This also contains a report from your supervisor during work experience and a report from the Director of studies. Work experience can also be organisedthrough your school, however if your school is unable

to provide this for you, Scholaris Education, the um-brella company of UCAT Education can organise this outside of school. Having work experience in the medical field demonstrates a genuine desire to work in medicine as actions speak louder than words. Should you receive an interview, you would be able to speak of your work experience and this adds to the credibility of your desire to help others through Medicine or Dentistry. Your mentor would also help arrange for other extracurricular activities that would help your applica-tion. What extracurricular activities depends on your school. Details about the portfolio is privy to us.

We have three different programs that cater for each year: UCATMED20, UCATMED21 and UCATMED22 each program caters to the individual needs of each year. For example, students in Year 12 need more time management guidance and must have the extra academic guidance from their mentors. This is be-cause everything that they do at school counts to-wards their ATAR. Year 11 students need to prepare for Year 12 and their mentors play a crucial role in helping them for this difficult year. Their work stan-dards must be close to Year 12. Some may say, “If you consistently get 80% in Year 11, what are the chances you’ll get 98% in Year 12?” Year 10 students sometimes need to work more on their vocabulary, an issue that we have picked up as we have trained hundreds of students. This is why we have produced a program referred to as Grammulary, a program which teaches both vo-cabulary and grammar. This is optional.

We believe that having a wider vocabulary improves a student’s abiliy to articulate themselves more accu-rately and eloquently. This affects their speech, their written expression and their cognitive ability. The wider one’s vocabulary, the more precisely a student can express themselves and sound more sophisticated when they are writing essays and even narratives. You may wonder about the relatively inex-pensive nature of our program given that we provide security, assistance and resources for all our students. As mentioned before, our goal is to reach out to stu-dents who are not exposed to the tutoring culture of Sydney and also because we do not believe in over-priced education. Education in an ideal world would be free, however, this is one manner in which the program’s benefactor is taking a step in changing the education-al landscape. Try our program for a month, meet (over the phone) your designated mentor, and make medi-cine a reality for you!

6. TESTIMONIALS

Here are some testimonials from some of our UCAT Education students. As they have provided us with permis-sion to share their experiences with the program, we thought you might like to hear from them too.

Samantha A. Current student ofUCAT Education

Jason L. Graduated student ofUCAT Education

“Becoming a doctor is so difficult now, I want to have high aspirations, but the UCAT exam just gives me some anxiety as to whether I will succeed. This pro-

gram provides me with weekly materials and are timed to prevent me from procrastinating. The best thing is that I know that the material is relevant and is reliable. Even though my parents can afford to provide me with a private school education, I still need this! We should feel lucky that there is one program that cares more for its students rather than their revenue. And I want to add. I really love the mentorship program because my mentor really helps in everything and genuinely

cares! Thanks Maya!”

“The first thought that comes into mind when you think UCAT is how difficult it would be. It was every-

thing I had expected because of UCAT Education. The weekly practice gave me hope, the hope that I could

actually be a doctor someday because I improved over time. I’ve never had lofty ambitions, but UCAT Education has changed that for me. Under the tute-lage of my mentor, my parents and I feel that I have matured and have become more serious about my

education.”

Natasha B. Current student ofUCAT Education

“I would say that the good thing about this program is that I have a mentor who teaches me to do well at school. He really helps in many ways, I can’t begin to describe it. I also like how the program is so organ-ised. It is a commitment to complete weekly, and to

overcome the learning curve for understanding UCAT takes months to a year. This is why I say you can’t hope to conquer UCAT in two days, a few days or

two weeks or other crash courses that other private colleges offer at such expensive prices. The question styles are unpredictable and you learn strategy, and now that I’ve kept going, I’m getting used to all the

questions. I now dare to dream!”

Karen M. Current student ofUCAT Education

“I believe that a person can only learn something properly if they are trained over weeks even months as I currently am and having seen so many of the UCAT questions, I can see why many people who have such high ATARS cannot get into Medicine or Dentistry. It’s not just about your academic marks that need to be high, you still need an excellent UCAT score. I find

the short crash course programs stressful and point-less not only because you’re charged so much in the

hundreds and thousands for so little. UCAT Education honestly provides more.”
