A kind of music originated from black people in America. In the beginning, white people didn’t like it, said “ it is not the music”, even art. But not for so long, one part of white people began to love it. For this moment, Rap started to spread the whole society of America.

Rap music seemed to have originated in the Bronx of New York City in the United States. From its inner-city roots it to its breakthrough in the 80's with rappers like the Sugar Hill Gang and artists like Salt-n-Pepa.

Rap evolved from African people in general and black people born in the U.S. in particular. Its earlier origins can be traced to West Africa where tribesmen held "men of words" in high regard. Later when slaves were brought to the New World, the captives mixed American music with the beats they remembered from Africa.

Another origin of rap is a form of Jamaican folk stories called "toasts." These are narrative poems that tell stories in rhyme. Rap is a way of poetically expressing oneself while rhyming on a beat.

It reflects the basic of society and truly the reality of life. People enjoyed this kind of stimulative, safe, dangelous and impressive rhyming. This had a great effect upon the values of young people. Every so often a new style of music emerges that takes America by storm and comes to represent the generation that grows up with it.
