SE-81 VLF Electromagnetic Receiver

The Scopas SE-81 VLF system employs VLF transmitter stations in the 15 to 25 kHz range as primary field sources. The undisturbed (ield from these remote antennae is essentially horizontal and of relatively constant strength. When conductors are present, the geometry and amplitude of the field are locally distorted and polarization of the field may occur.

With the versatile Scopas unit, all amplitudes and geometric parameters as well as the characteristics of the polarization ellipse can be measured. For reconnaissance surveys, dip angle and field directions can be rapidly determined. For detailed surveys, amplitude relations and the elliptical polarization in the horizontal and vertical planes can be measured as well. Thus, the operator can select the parameters most useful for his search problem.

Powered by two 9 V dry cells, the SE-81 weighs only 1.4 kg.

SE-81 VLF Receptor Electromagnetico

peuvent etre mesurees. BGS Scintillation Counters

Scintillation counters measure gamma-ray energy arising from radioactive sources. The BGS Scin tillation Counters are rugged, light-weight, easily operated instruments designed for field use in pro specting for uranium, thorium and potassium, the naturally occurring gamma-ray emitting radioactive materials.

Sensitive sodium iodide/photomultiplier detectors powered by stable high voltage supplies are used to convert gamma-ray energy into electrical energy. Then, high grade ratemeter circuits pre sent the output on an analog meter or digital display.

There are three models available. The BGS-1SL has an analog meter output with a 43 crrr c rystal while the BGS-3 and the BGS-4 offer increased sensitivity with an 82 crrr crystal. Counts per se cond are displayed digitally on the BGS-4, thus avoiding operator errors inherent in analog meters.

High sensitivity through the use of a 43 cm^ (1.5" x 1.5") crystal detector with the BGS-1SL.

For increased sensitivity, an 82 crr)3{i.6" x 1.6") crystal in the BGS-3 and BGS-4 modeJs.

Rugged construction employing light-weight aluminum or fibreglass cases of appropriate thickness.

Audio alarms produce pitch change proportional to the radiation count. A control allows adjustment of the count level at which the alarm is activated.

Convenient carrying handle for handheld operation and a carrying strap for hands-free operation. Alternatively it can be carried in a packsack using the audio alarm as an indication of above background radiation.

Standard 'D' cell batteries. Battery condition is monitored on the meter or display.

Weight 2.2 kg including batteries for the BGS-1SL. 2.5 kg including batteries for the BGS-3 and BGS-4.

Function

The MP-2 is a portable one gamma proton precession magnetometer for field survey or base station use. The optimized design of sensor and circuitry using the latest COS/MOS components has resulted in a very light weight, low power consumption, rugged and reliable magnetometer.

Light emitting diodes coupled with an ingenious optically polarized reflector combine solid state reliability with easy reading even in bright sunlight.

'oupled with a module into which the MP-2 is easily inserted, the magne tometer can be used as a base station unit for analogue or digital recording. Full details of the MBS-2 Magnetic Base Station are available on another Scintrex specification sheet.

The noise-cancelling dual-coil sensor and electronics have been so designed as to effectively eliminate reading problems due to virtually all magnetic gradients which may be encountered in field survey conditions.

Notice of Intent

for Technical Reports

1984 08 14

2.6833/208

An examination of your survey report indicates that the requirements of The Ontario Mining Act have not been fully met to warrant maximum assessment work credits. This notice is merely a warning that you will not be allowed the number of assessment work days credits that you expected and also that in approximately 15 days from the above date, the mining recorder will be authorized to change the entries on his record sheets to agree with the enclosed statement. Please note that until such time as the recorder actually changes the entry on the record sheet, the status of the claim remains unchanged.

If you are of the opinion that these changes by the mining recorder will jeopardize your claims, you may during the next fifteen days apply to the Mining and Lands Commissioner for an extension of time. Abstracts should be sent with your application.

If the reduced rate of credits does not jeopardize the status of the claims then you need not seek relief from the Mining and Lands Commissioner and this Notice of Intent may be disregarded.

If your survey was submitted and assessed under the "Special Provision-Performance and Coverage" method and you are of the opinion that a re-appraisal under the "Man-days" method would result in the approval of a greater number of days credit per claim, you may, within the said fifteen day period, submit assessment work breakdowns listing the employees names, addresses and the dates and hours they worked. The new work breakdowns should be submitted direct to the Land Management Branch, Toronto. The report will be re-assessed and a new statement of credits based on actual days worked will be issued.
