A long-time vision became a reality for the Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation at The Palm Beach Policemen’s & Firemen’s Ball, its first black tie gala at Mar-a-Lago benefiting both of the Town’s public safety

departments. The sold-out event, which drew nearly 800 guests and raised nearly $2.2 million, was highlighted by a surprise visit by President Donald J. Trump.

Event Co-Chairmen Monika and John Preston and Annie and Michael Falk, were joined by Vice Chairmen Sandra and Richard Bornstein and Eileen and Brian Burns, who served as Honorary Ambassadors of the gala evening, entitled Red Hot and Blue, with a decor theme created by event designer, Tom Mathieu & Co.

After the poolside cocktail reception, the action moved to the Grand Ballroom, where Senior Vice President and Foundation Co-Founder Tim Moran announced the program, which began with Palm Beach Pipes & Drums, followed by the Presentation of the Colors by the Palm Beach Police and Fire Departments’ Honor Guards. Mr. Moran then introduced Lieutenant Gary Walley, who sang The Star-Spangled Banner, accompanied on guitar by Michael Caristo, son of Palm Beach Police Chief Nicholas Caristo.

The excitement heightened when Foundation President and Co-Founder John F. Scarpa entered the Ballroom and announced a surprise visit from the President of the United States.

Afterwards, Mr. Scarpa called the Prestons to the stage, who presented the 14th Annual Palm Tree Award to Christine and Bob Stiller.

Then First Vice President David Mack and Second Vice President Michael Belisle joined Mr. Scarpa and Mr. Moran, who, along with Police Chief Nicholas Caristo, and Fire Chief Darrel Donatto, presented the Police Officer and Fire Rescue Worker of the Year Award presentations to Detective Erick Ward and Jacob Brandjes respectively.

A live auction, conducted by Bill Bone, featured one-of-a-kind experiences and sporting packages. The Danny Beck Band provided high energy entertainment that kept the crowd on the dance floor. All proceeds raised will remain in Palm Beach, and will benefit the Palm Beach Police and Fire Rescue Departments. Event Sponsors included The Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation, Inc., Linda A. Gary Real Estate, IberiaBank and Mark and Janet Levy.
