Subject: Easter Performance
Dear Roy,
How are you? How was your Easter? Mine wasn’t too good. Let me tell you about
it.
This Easter I was chosen to take part in the annual Easter performance. This year, I
helped with the stage decorations. I also acted on stage for the first time. I was a
king. I didn’t have many lines but I still felt nervous. I had to wear a crown, a long
beard and a long shirt. I looked so funny! On the night of the play, we were all
prepared and ready. Suddenly, Miss Wong shouted at me, ‘Where’s your crown,
Charlie?’ I touched the top of my head and my crown wasn’t there! I was in shock
because I was about to go on stage. Everyone helped me to look for it. We were
racing against the clock. Then I heard the line, ‘Who is that I see?’ I knew that was
my cue to go on stage. I took a deep breath and went on without my crown. I did
my part but I knew I didn’t read my lines or acted well. I was upset because I was
still thinking about the crown.
Later after the show, we found the crown in a box while we were clearing up. I felt
disappointed with myself even though everyone comforted me by saying, ‘It’s all
right. Nobody noticed a thing!’ I’m particularly sad because this was my last year
to take part in the performance before going to secondary school.
I hope your Easter was better than mine. How did you spend your holidays?
Hope to hear from you soon.
