Concello de Santiago is the local govenment o Santiago de Compostela, a UNESCO wold heitage city located

in the nothwest o Spain that is enown o its cultual and histoical attactions.

While Santiago’s achitectue might be timeless, its IT inastuctue is not, and it was stating to expeience

poblems as it aged. “Many o ou machines would stop woking without any eason,” says Fenando Suae

Loenzo. “We knew it was a hadwae poblem, so we chose to migate to a new, moe eliable hadwae

platom utilizing the latest geneation o Intel Xeon pocessos.”

VMwae Inastuctue 3 helped Concello de Santiago to seamlessly tansition its old machines by conveting

physical seves into vitual machines and then migating them onto VMwae ESX hypevisos poweed by Inte

Xeon pocessos. “We had ou new vitual inastuctue up and unning in less than one day,” says Loenzo.

“We’ve vitualized ve dieent applications that ae citical not just to city hall, but also to the public. Now
