As a meeting planner, I travel often for work and whenever I am able to for fun. I find that like most people, I enjoy travelling most when I'm relaxed, and I'm relaxed when I know everything is in under control. I like to pre-book hotel rooms, have a loose itinerary for most days when I'm on vacation, and know how I'll be getting from point A to point B before I leave home.

Mobile apps help me to achieve all of these goals and make planning even easier with portability, any information I could possibly need at my fingertips, and real time updates . All the apps I suggest are available for free for iphone and most for android.

Why use a travel app?

Before you go, take the time to search for deals on flights, hotels, car rentals—whatever you’ll need.

Nearly every search and booking service I've seen comes with an app for Android, iPhones, and iPads, which is helpful when your plans change and you need to book a new hotel room. Utilize airline apps (Southwest Airlines, for example) to check in online from anywhere you can get cell service and never get in C group again!

The best directional map available, in my opinon, with real time updates so that you can avoid traffic back ups and construction. No GPS system is perfect, but I have used googlemaps in cities all over the US for work and play and it is my secret weapon for smooth and efficient travel!
