God calls Saint Clement Parish El Señor llama a la parroquia de San Clemente to be a welcoming, worshipping a ser una comunidad amigable, que adore community of faith, hope, and love. y sirva al Señor con fe, esperanza y amor.
A Message From Deacon Paul:
Mandate for Mission
Most of today’s reading in Luke’s Gospel takes
place right after Jesus is baptized and the Holy
Spirit descended upon him. Jesus then went to his
hometown to begin his ministry. The quote from
the Prophet Isaiah sets the tone for his ministry
throughout the Gospel and establishes the mission of his
earliest followers. This is also the mission that he expects
his church (us) to carry out in his name. That is, we are to
bring glad tidings to the poor, liberation to captives,
recovery of sight to the blind, and freedom for the
oppressed. It is a ministry rooted in concern for those on
the margins of life and for freedom for the oppressed. If
the Church today is to preach the good news to the poor
and liberation to captives, it must follow the guidance of
St. Paul found in the second readings from last week and
this week, to be a union of people with different gifts
working together to build the kingdom of God on earth.
The Mission should not be taken over by one group or one
charism. The power of Jesus’ mission is preceded by the
teachings of Ezra whose reading of the law of God showed
the power of God’s word in how we live our lives.
