Plagiarism

1. Submission of assessment and signed cover sheet by learner
2. Acknowledgement of receipt by assessor

4. Learner is notified of the assessment result in writing
5. Learner acknowledges the assessment result, either accepting it or appealing it by
completing and returning the Assessment Results sheet located at the end of the
assessment workbook
6. If a learner has been assessed as Competent, the learner will be awarded with either a
Statement of Attainment for that unit, in the case of single unit enrolments only or in
the case of a learner being enrolled in multiple units or a whole qualification, the

assessment result for this unit will be recorded and the learner will be issued with a

7. If a learner has been assessed as Not Yet Competent, the learner will be required to
resubmit their work for assessment after making the necessary amendments as per the
assessors’ comments / feedback. Steps 2 to 8 will then be repeated as applicable.
Assessment Outcomes
Each part / element of the unit will be assessed against the requirements of the competency
standards for this unit. Each part of this assessment will be assessed as either Satisfactory
(S) or Not Satisfactory (NS) and a final assessment result of Competent or Not Yet Competent

Assessment Appeals

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the processes of
identifying work health and safety (WHS) hazards, assessing WHS risks, and developing,

implementing and evaluating risk controls according to legislative and organisational
requirements.
It applies to individuals who contribute to WHS risk management processes in their work role
in a range of industry and workplace contexts.
NOTE: The terms 'occupational health and safety' (OHS) and 'work health and safety' (WHS)
are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace. In jurisdictions where the
Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented RTOs are advised to contextualise the unit
of competency by referring to the existing State/Territory OHS legislative requirements.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time
of publication.

3.3 Contribute to applying selected techniques, tools and processes
Assessment Task. 3.3
For the four examples of hazards given in Assessment Tasks 3.1 and 3.2, use the selected
technique, tool or process identified in Assessment Task 3.2 to identify these hazards in your
workplace.
You must provide evidence to demonstrate that you have used the selected technique, tool or
process to identify the hazard. This can include but is not limited to:
Scans or screen shots of sections of WHS Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice,
Standards, Guidance Material and other information issued by WHS regulators
Scans or screen shots workplace policies, procedures, processes and systems, including
hazard reporting systems and safe work method statements
Scans or screen shots of audit reports
Scans or screen shots compensation claim information
Scans or screen shots of minutes of consultation with individuals and parties
Scans or screen shots of incident and investigation reports
Scans or screen shots of safety data sheets (SDS) and registers of hazardous chemicals

4.2 Contribute to applying techniques, tools and processes to identified
hazards
Assessment Task. 4.2
Using the four examples of hazards that you provided in Assessment Tasks 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and
3.4, select one or more of the techniques, tools or processes identified in Assessment Task 4.1
to perform a risk assessment on each of these hazards. You may use the same process for
each.
Your responses should be entered into the table below and demonstrate that you have risk
assessed all four hazards identified. Your evidence for each risk assessment can be a screen
shot or scan of your risk assessment technique, tool or process or any other evidence that
demonstrates that the risk assessment has been completed.
Please note that third party reports (e.g. letter from supervisor etc.) of you using these
techniques, tools or processes is not sufficient evidence for this assessment task.
