Melanoma ResearchA dear friend and longtime Rio Cibolo Ranch electrician and handy -man, Leonard Moore, lost his battle to Melanoma earlier this year.Research for this often deadly disease needs your help. As of March2014 American Cancer Society had 46 grants totaling over $20 millionfunding research to find a cure for Melanoma. The United StatesSurgeon General released a statement that Skin Cancer is a majorhealth problem and there is a call to action for prevention. You maydonate directly to Melanoma Research during the Live Auction portionof the Cattle Baron’s Gala. If you cannot attend the gala but would liketo donate, you may still do so with the enclosed card.

Patient Transportation Program“You’ve Got Cancer.” Those words are the toughest to hear for a newlydiagnosed patient. Once their “Road to Recovery” begins, there aremany obstacles that a patient encounters. Sometimes the most difficultone can be how to get to treatment. The American Cancer Society’sCancer Patient Transportation Program ensures patients a ride to theirlife saving treatment.

In 2013 American Cancer Society provided 7256 rides to 555 patientsin the San Antonio area which includes 12 counties. This program is ingreat need of funds. There will be an opportunity during the LiveAuction portion of the Cattle Baron’s Gala to make a gift directly tothis program. If you cannot attend the gala but would like to donate,you may still do so with the enclosed card.
