A Message from the Principal

Dear Bettye Myers Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the end of our first semester, I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished

thus far. Please continue to support your child’s academic success by accessing the Home Access

Center (HAC) for your child’s current grades. If you do not have access to HAC, please contact

Mrs. Jackie Martin at [email protected]. Please review your child’s teacher websites for

classwork, homework and other information and resources. If your child needs additional support,

please contact that teacher to arrange tutorials. It is important that students who choose to attend tutorials, come

knowing the specific areas in which they need support. Another important part of academic success is student

attendance. If you make attendance, (including being at school on time and remaining at school for the entire day) a

priority, so will your child. Attendance is one of the greatest strategies leading to academic success. I feel blessed

to be the principal of a school with such great kids and active parent and community support. I am confident in our

faculty & staff, and I am excited about the excellent foundation they are establishing in academics, fine arts, and

athletics. With your continued help and support, Bettye Myers Middle School will continue to meet and exceed the

high expectations we have for all.

Student Recognition Program

At Bettye Myers Middle School, we believe it is important to

recognize positive student behavior. We want to reinforce students

for making good choices and decisions, and we want to show case

theses students as positive role models to other students at BMMS.

Student of the Month

Staff members nominate a student for Student of the Month.

Students who receive the Student of the Month award receive an

award plaque, go off campus to have lunch with the principal, and

are also recognized in our school newsletter.

The following are some criteria that guide teacher nominations:

➢ Being responsible

➢ Academic excellence

➢ Demonstrating significant academic improvement

➢ Diligent/hardworking

➢ Kind, empathetic, or helpful to another student

➢ Helpful to a staff member

Academic Assembly

PTA NEWS Hello Students, Parents and Staff,

Hard to believe that the holidays break is here! I want to start by appreciating all of the volunteers who made

possible many events and activities this semester. We have had so many wonderful volunteers helping out at school,

providing food, supplies, and drinks.

Please continue to support our students and school. We are now starting to use PTAvenue online to manage our

membership, volunteer opportunities, and news and events calendar. We have just started using the site so we are in

the process of adding new items all the time. This site will let you keep up with school and PTA activities as well as

volunteer. Please check back with us often, as we are continually updating. If you have any suggestions for content,

please drop me a note. Use the parent login below to enter the BMMS PTAvenue site.

During this semester we also had our very first BMMS PTA Reflections Art Contest. We had many fabulous entries

with this year’s theme, “Believe, Dream, Inspire.” The art-work has judged at the local level, and the top entries will

advance to the district judging. To celebrate our student’s talent and creativity we hosted an award ceremony at

school.

We are having a great first year at BMMS and as we go we are starting to put in our calendar activities for the next

year. Please email us your suggestions.

On behalf of Bettye Myers PTA, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
