Pope Francis
“Jesus’ way always leads us to happiness. There
will always be a cross, trials in the middle, but at
the end we are always led to happiness.”
Angelus, 1 March 2015
School Board
Through the School Board work in 2015, as a group
we identified the need to beautify and perhaps
re-organise the entrance as a school as a task for us
this year. At Monday’s meeting, we had initial
discussions on how we might proceed with this.
There are still issues with parents parking in the Drop
Off Zone and exiting their cars which causes traffic
issues onto Calytrix Road, especially in the morning.
Even though this is more about changing behaviours
of drivers, we do also need to consider if there are any
options for traffic movement on the road. Therefore, we
will begin our efforts by first speaking to the council
and seeing how they might possibly be able to support
our project.
School Board AGM
Our AGM will be Monday 21st March in our Staff Room.
If you are interested in joining our Board, please come
and see me and we can have a conversation about
what maybe required.
Swimming Lessons
A reminder that swimming lessons begin not next
week, but the week after (7th March).
Times of lessons will be in the
Newsletter next week.
Like the Green Tree Frog, I grow and change.
Like the Bush Bee,
I can work with others and on my own to be successful.
Like the Eagle, I see what I
need to do to achieve my
goal and take responsibility.
Like the Crocodile,
I can overcome challenges and keep
going when things get
tough.
Like the Dolphin, I am free to
develop my own ideas and take
risks.
Like the Green Ant, I use what I know and
what others know to
build meaning.
Like the Tata Lizard I can become a learning detective, searching
for answers or clues to my own or
others questions.
Learning Power Project
Bombing of Darwin
On Friday, School Captains Sophia Plews and Zach
Pigot-Lawrie joined me as we attended the Bombing
of Darwin ceremony. It was an extremely informative
event which the students learnt much from.
Thanks and God Bless,
Shane Donohue

Being merciful may not be as challenging as you
think. In the newsletter each week there will be a
‘How to be Merciful’ hint for people to try during
the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Share with your family
and try putting it into practice.
How to be Merciful
Resist sarcasm; it is the antithesis of mercy:
”Set, O Lord, a guard over my mouth; keep watch,
O Lord, at the door of my lips!”
(Psalm 141:3)

A Message from the Principal ...
KidsMatter Primary
Why is social and emotional learning
part of KidsMatter Primary?
Social and emotional learning is about learning
how to manage feelings, manage friendships and
solve problems. These are essential life skills that
support wellbeing and positive mental health.
Social and emotional skills promote children’s
ability to cope with difficulties and help to prevent
mental health problems. Children who have
developed social and emotional skills find it easier
to manage themselves, relate to others, resolve
conflict, and feel positive about themselves and
the world around them.
KidsMatter emphasises teaching social and
emotional learning as a way of promoting
children’s mental health. Social and emotional
learning provides practical skills that all children
can learn and apply to everyday situations.
Learning skills such as self-awareness, effective
communication and conflict resolution can also
help to prevent the development of mental health
difficulties in children who might otherwise be
vulnerable. In this way teaching children social
and emotional skills helps to promote resilience –
the capacity to cope and stay healthy in spite of
the negative things that happen through life.
