PREFACE

This is one of a number of books put together to try and assist the Messianic Community in their understanding of their Jewish roots and of the significance of the Hebraic roots to us as Messianic Community. In so doing we hope to bridge the gap between the physical experience of the Old Testament and the spiritual significance thereof in the New Jerusalem (Revelation). In this book the focus will be on spiritual warfare and the celebrating God’s restoration of our roles as prophet, priest and king. The journey toward my Hebraic roots began a few years ago when I attended a Bar mitzvah in a local synagogue. After the service they told this story:

• Every young man at the age of 13 hears goes through a process ending in the declaration of his entering manhood.

• He is given a new name. • His name is engraved on a wooden carving of a tree – the tree of life. • The rabbi sends a note to Jerusalem where his name is entered in the

Book of Life. • He doesn’t need a visa if he should go to Israel and, because his name is

recorded, he can stay there forever. As they told this story I saw in it the New Testament truth of accepting Yahshua as your personal Savior and of being accepted into the Kingdom of God. What was being done in the natural at a Bar mitzvah had a spiritual parallel in the kingdom of God. I realized that if we observe the Hebraic festivals and celebrations in the natural we would uncover spiritual patterns and truths that follow. My thanks to a spiritual friend, Arthur Aaron, who started me (Roland) down this path. These notes are the first fruits of our study and already we have realized that there is so much more to add. Our suggestions for using this book are as follows:

1. Study our thoughts and the heart with which it was written. 2. Keep in mind the fact that we are looking for spiritual truths that are

manifested in the natural and are not suggesting legalism. 3. Consider the strands and concepts that link the: • Old and New Testament • Jew and Christian

4. Sin of Spies

While traveling through the wilderness the Jews arrived at Canaan. Moses sent 12 men in as spies. Ten men came back and saw more problems than opportunities. As a result of the sin of the spies the Jews suffered and died in the wilderness. The story of Purim is a repetition of this sin. The people had experienced God’s blessings and promises but were no longer able to see it. Every Purim feast is a reminder that we must look at all the opportunities and promises of this world discern what God’s will is for us. All of us go through hard times; all of us face struggles and tribulations. What a blessing it is to understand the deeper meaning of the names of the heroes of this story as this helps us to gain faith. Mordecai means “mera dachiya”, a spice that diffuses a fragrance after it has

been processed. Esther means “Hadassah”, myrtle, and olive green leaf that releases a sweet

fragrance when crushed and bruised. Our full potential is brought out in the hard reality of life. This helps us to value trials and tribulations.

5. Purim’s Mask Part of the festivities of the feast of Purim is that we put on a mask. We do this to identify with Esther who hid her real identity. At the end of the celebration we take this mask off and store it for another year. In reality, however, we put on masks all year long. Wearing a mask is a norm and not a once off thing. We do this to present an image of what we think others want to see. In this process we forget what the real face looks like. Purim challenges us to find the courage to remove the everyday masks and to present our true self to the world. As we face this reality, in ourselves and in relationships with others, we will be able to receive healing and restoration.

6. Sin of the Golden Calf Way back in Exodus, Moses had lead the congregation to Mount Sinai. He went up the mountain to get the Ten Commandments. When he came down the “people” had started to worship a golden calf – the sin of the Golden Calf. The attack by the Greeks was to implement idol worship. Each time we light the Chanukah candles we declare to the spiritual realm that we have victory over this “world” in our lives through the power of our faith in The God of Israel. This book is in a developmental phase and we would therefore welcome feedback from those who have used it. Suggestions for improvements would be particularly appreciated, as would any testimonies as a result of your having used this book and applied it to your life. The Messianic Community needs to urgently say and do the words of Ruth:

Ruth 1: 16,17 Urge me not to leave you or to turn back from following you; for where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. The Lord does so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts me form you. INTRODUCTION The goal of this book is to show that history has forfilled (at least at a first phase level) the prophecy of Daniel – namely that God’s chosen vehicle – the assembly / Body of Christ will be faced with warfare. Too often the body of believers just wants to have the promises without the spiritual warfare. Having shown that the Jewish nation has experienced these battles, we will show that the Body of Christ is called to “stand” on the face of a renewed attack. In the book of Esther, we are asked two important questions, the answers to which will indicate if you are ready for the call to war or not. Esther 4:14b “14 Who knows but that you have come onto your royal position for such a time as this?” Do you read Esther:

ß As a story? ß As something that will not happen again? ß As a Jewish “thing”?

is a combination of the freedom of choice which you have exercised and God’s Hand on your life. It is therefore a “royal position”. Ex. 19:6 “6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, a holy nation [consecrated, set apart to the worship of God]. These are the words you shall speak to the Israelites.” 1 Pet. 2:9 “9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” The first question is: Are you focused on:

ß Your problem.

ß Where you would rather be. ß Why others are better off than you are.

OR Are you ready to do God’s purpose at this time? The second question that we see from this verse is what we really understand about the factor of time. It’s easy to tell me what the time is now – it’s a precise reading from a good Swiss watch. If however, I ask you what is time? I am sure that you will find the question more difficult to answer. If you rely on the current world view, the Greco-Roman mindset, we will define time as a measurement of the rotations of the earth. Based on this understanding time is linear, it will be the same day after day, year after year – each hour is a repetition of the previous hour. From a Hebrew mindset, we get a totally different view of time. An investigation of God’s Word shows us that “Man sanctifies time.”

a) After God had created heaven and earth and all that is in it in six days – He rested.

b) After the Exodus out of Egypt, God commands the

Israelites to mark the passage of time with the first day of the month to start at Passover – the day the new moon appears, and declares that man must rest.

Ex. 12:2 “2 This month shall be to you the beginning of months, the first month of the year to you.” Ex. 12:42 “42 It was a night of watching unto the Lord and to be much observed for bringing them out of Egypt; this same night of watching unto the Lord is to be observed by all the Israelites throughout their generations.” Time, therefore is something defined by man as he observed the changing movement of the heavenlies. As spiritual man sees the physical change in the sky he will tap into the potential power / holiness / purpose that God has for that time.

This time of power / revelation / blessing is more evident on the dates and times which God has:

ß Commanded as His Set Feasts ß Set as seasons and His method of warfare through the words of the

Prophets. We call these times (specifically the commanded holidays) as “Moadim”. The translation of this word “Moadim” means – times of meeting. Therefore each time these days of celebration arrives on the calendar again:

ß God wants His people to find Him again – to rediscover new light of revelation.

ß God wants His people to draw down on new spiritual resources that were

not available the year before.

ß God wants us to live each year / time as an unique gift with its own potential for destiny.

We either use this gift or lose it. Are you:

- a set apart Holy Nation, i.e. in a royal position?

- ready for a time like today? Calling down God’s Blessing in time: a) God has created all things before the foundation of this world. We can call this “Spirit time”. In this time frame God’s plans and purposes for your life has been pre-determined. b) God created the earth, placed man on it and allotted all men equal opportunity to make use of time. Our impact in this world is determined by:

- the generational family that we came from - the culture that I am from. - the time-period in which I live.

c) Each one of us has to reach up to God’s time, through Kairos moments, to discover our purpose and destiny. We download our purpose / promise as Abraham did: Heb. 7:6 “6 But this person who has not their Levitical ancestry received tithes from Abraham [himself] and blessed him who possessed the promises [of God].” Gen. 14:19-20 “19 And he blessed him and said, Blessed (favored with blessings, made blissful, joyful) be Abram by God Most High, Possessor and Maker of heaven and earth, 20 And blessed, praised, and glorified be God Most High, Who has given your foes into your hand! And [Abram] gave him a tenth of all [he had taken].” When we act on our destiny God / Melchizedek will come to bless us:

- with position - material possessions - peace

We need to take these blessings and use it as “seed” to be sown into the season of our lives so that we impact the community.

Now let’s apply this principle to the Story of Mordecai, Esther and Hathach – the Eunuch. God’s Time A prophetic word of warning that the

Israelites would face an enemy at war with a promise of redemption. (Daniel)

Mordecai / Esther / Hathach’s Time

They are in captivity, are watchmen on the wall, see the danger, react. Pray, fast, etc to open the “Kairos” window for their purpose / promise. God reaches down and changes the heart of an earthly king to raise the scepter.

God’s Time Blesses them with: - position - possessions - peace.

God’s Season of Warfare God creates the earth and places man within it to:

- multiply - take dominion

Adam and Eve gave this right of rulership away. God’s plan is that man will – through the work on the Cross by His Son, Jahshua – regain that position of dominion. God however knows that satan will continue with his same goal to cause us to fail in achieving God’s purpose of establishing the Kingdom of God. In order to empower the Israelites / Bride of Christ to stand, God provides a prophetic vision of war to Daniel. If we study this word and understand the form of attack, we will be able to walk in victory. As we approach this study of the Messianic Perspective of Spiritual Warfare we need to keep in mind a key principle that God sets out. Dwell in unity: Ps 133 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment poured on the head that ran down on the beard, even the beard of Aaron, that came down upon the collar and skirts of his garments [consecrating the whole body]. It is like the dew of [lofty] Mount Hermon and the dew that comes on the hills of Zion; for there the Lord has commanded the blessing, even life forevermore [upon the high and the lowly].”

For the past 2000 years, the church has, for the most part worked to separate itself from its Hebraic roots. This is a violation of Paul’s clear message that we are wild branches grafted into the olive tree (Rom 11:13-24). The olive tree represents God’s covenants and promises made to Israel, which we become part of when we received our salvation (Eph 2:12-13). Paul warned us against separating and becoming arrogant (Rom 11:20), knowing that the root holds up the branches, not the other way around. Sadly, the Churches rejection of it’s Hebraic roots has led to heresies in the Church, the integration of pagan practices, and the persecution of the Jewish people by the Church throughout the centuries (Wagner, 1998:11).

As we can see there are at least two themes in the Bible which emphasize the coming together of the Israelites and the Gentiles.

Firstly, the wild olive. In Jer 11:10-16 the Lord speaks through His prophet Jeremiah and talks of both houses of Israel and Judah as a “green” olive tree. Also in Rom 11:17-24 Paul clearly says that the Israelites’ rejection is not final and that the Gentiles (wild olives) would be grafted into the natural (green) olive (Israelites) (Rom 11:24)1 Secondly, One New Man. God has a purpose to create ONE NEW man (generic) out of both Israelite and Gentile, by bringing them both to the Cross – see Eph 2:14-16. The conflict between both groups is reconciled as we come into “one Spirit in the Father” (Eph 2:18). Paul goes on to say that “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household…with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord (Eph 2:19-21) [This division of Jew and Gentile] is beginning to change …the Church and Israel are [both] rediscovering each other. As God is restoring His land and people, Israel, in fulfillment of bible prophecy and in preparation of the soon coming Messiah, Christians are rediscovering their Hebraic roots, while Jews are meeting Christians who truly love and pray for them and the nation of Israel. In the past, Christians persecuted Jews in the Name of Yahshua. Today, because of Yahshua. The dividing wall of hostility” is coming down, just as he had planned from the beginning (Eph 2: 14-18) (Wagner, 1998:11). In summary, we see that the spiritual is not the first, but the natural and then the spiritual (1 Cor 15:46).

1. END TO WAR There will be an end to war – there will be a time of jubilee. We find this promise in Isa 2: 2-4 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days…they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. This speaks of an event in the future; although the Messiah has come we are not living in the fulfillment of the prophecy. We find a further prophecy declaring thus a time of peace: Isa 40:2 Speak tenderly to the heart of Jerusalem, And cry to her that her time of service and her warfare are ended. Not only is the war ended but we find the promise of jubilee in this verse as well: Isaiah 2:3-5 “3 And many people shall come and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law and instruction, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. 4 And He shall judge between the nations and shall decide [disputes] for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.”

2. WHAT HAPPENS “BEFORE” THE END OF WAR? We are given the promise that the Messiah will return – this time not as the suffering servant but as a conquering KING! Rev 19: 11-16 After that I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse Appeared! The One Who was riding it is called Faithful and True, and He passes judgment and wages war in righteousness. His eyes blaze like a flame of fire, and on His head are many kingly crowns; and He has a title inscribed which He alone knows. He is dressed in a robe dyed by dipping in blood, and the title by which He is called is The Word of God. And the troops of heaven, clothed in fine linen, dazzling and clean, followed Him on white horses. From His mouth goes forth a sharp sword with which He can smite the nations; and He will shepherd and control them with a staff of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath and indignation of God the All-Ruler. And on His garment and on His thigh He has a name inscribed, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Until then the assembly / congregation / Church of God / Body of Christ is called to go to war and stay in combat until He comes.

Before we can study this further we need to establish who makes up this assembly.

a) As Corporate Israel The Jewish nation understood that each person had to believe in God by faith – in the classic example, those who painted the blood of the lamb on their doorposts would be safe – the story of Passover. The Torah/Bible does not tell us that the entire house of Jacob was saved. We are only told that 600 000 men had left Egypt (Ex. 12:37). The question is how many stayed behind? They clearly understood that the nation had to function together (spiritually), by moving when the cloud or the pillar of fire moved, etc. They therefore also understood the principle of unity, as each tribe had a place and a function (gift) around the temple. With this understanding we can deduct that they knew that since they were accountable to each other, they also had an obligation to deal with the inner conflict of a unit.

In Rom. 9-11 Paul draws a parallel with this corporate salvation of Israel and the Bride of Christ – the parallel of a single body (unity) functioning separately (gifts) while moving in the direction of the Holy Spirit is clear.

b) ASSEMBLY/ECCLECIA(Greek)/KAHAL(Hebrew) One of the beliefs of the Replacement Theology Movement is that the “Church” started on one sunny day in the book of Acts. We follow a God who is the same yesterday, today and will be tomorrow. Based on this assumption we would need to “find” a church in the Old Testament. The world Church is a foreign concept and is the result of the translations from Greek to English, etc. So what is the truth? The assembly (Ekkelsia/Kahal) was established in the wilderness at Mount Sinai. In Acts we read the story of Stephen who preaches with power and might – immediately after this word he is stoned. What were the last words this man spoke? Acts 7:38: “This is He who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received the living words to give to us,” Stephan is saying that the same Jesus/Yahshua seen on earth and whose power is working through the Holy Spirit in Acts was at the start of the Church. In Ex. 19: 1-25 we find the story of how this group of people stood before God and say: Ex. 24:3 “And Moses came and told the people all the Words of Jahweh, and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, All the words which Jahweh has said, we will do. “ c) Acts 7 has verified that this group is made up of:

- the house of Jacob - the house of Israel

as a congregation. (Acts 3: 25-26) We find another interesting thing. Those who went up out of Egypt consisted of:

- 600 000 men of the children of Israel and - a mixed multitude of Gentiles who had accepted God in faith and had

believed in their salvation. (Ex. 12: 37, 38) This is truly interesting – we find the congregation of Acts also being increased by the acceptance of Gentiles who believe by faith in the work of Jesus as their salvation.

The apostle Peter confirms this in Acts 10: 34, 35. Acts 10:34-35: “34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said, Truly I see that God is no respecter of persons; 35 but in every nation he who fears Him and works righteousness is accepted with Him.” Paul reinforces this in Rom. 10: 9-13. Rom. 10:9-13: “9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone believing on Him shall not be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference both of Jew and of Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call on Him. 13 For everyone, "whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved." “ And therefore fulfils the promises made in the Old Testament: Is. 28:16: “therefore so says the Lord Jahweh, Behold, I place in Zion a Stone for a foundation, a tried Stone, a precious Cornerstone, a sure Foundation; he who believes shall not hurry.” Joel 2:32: “And it shall be, whoever shall call on the Name of Jahweh shall be saved; for salvation shall be in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, as Jahweh has said, and in the remnant whom Jahweh shall call.” d) Having established that the assembly is made up of both houses of Judah and Israel we need to establish whether I am an Israelite or not. Who is an Israelite? Having established that we are part of one congregation that started at Mount Sinai, which was renewed in Acts, and which is in the process of transformation to be the Bride of Jeshua, we need to determine who is:

- the firstborn and - who is an Israelite?

Paul connects the “general assembly” and the “firstborn”: Heb. 12:23: “to the general assembly and church of the first-born who are written in Heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,”

Israel is conceived by God to walk as a first-born – set apart nation that will be a light to the world.

Ex. 4:22: “And you shall say to Pharaoh, Thus says the Lord: Israel is My son, My first-born.” Ex. 19:5-6: “And now if you will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure to Me above all the nations; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the sons of Israel.” But “Israel” struggles to understand the Words of Yahshua. Yahshua speaks to Jews who think that they have been free (in a sense physically but not spiritually). Yahshua goes on to refer them to the laws regarding an Israelite slave. Yahshua takes the release of an Israelite slave (“Pidyon she vieyrm”) and makes the comparison between an Israelite slave who could be redeemed to his full positions/glory if the price of redemption has been paid and says it is similar to the resurrection of their rights to be a Priest if they believe in Him by faith as the Messiah. The truth is, we are set free from the sin of death not from the Word of God (His commandments). John 8:31-36: “31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who believed on Him, If you continue in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered Him, We are Abraham's seed and were never in bondage to anyone. How do you say, You will be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever practices sin is the slave of sin. 35 And the slave does not abide in the house forever, but the Son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”

So we have a congregation of the House of Jacob and a mixed multitude (Old Testament) and the Jew and Gentiles (New Testament) which is called/compared to:

Olive Tree – Rom. 11: 16-20: “16 For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, also the branches. 17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and became a sharer of the root and the fatness of the olive tree with them, 18 do not boast against the branches. But if you boast, it is not you that bears the root, but the root bears you. 19 You will say then, The branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in. 20 Well, because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be high-minded, but fear.”

One Body – Eph. 4: 3-6: … There is one body and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope… one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, …”

Green Olive – Jer. 11: 16-17: Jer 11:16: “Jahweh called your name, a green olive tree, fair, with fine fruit. Zech. 4:1-14 “…And he said to me, What do you see? And I said, I see, and behold, a lampstand, all of it gold, and a bowl on its top, and its seven lamps on it, and seven pipes to the seven lamps on its top; … and two olive trees beside it, one on the right of the bowl, and the other on the left of it. … What are these two olive trees on the right of the lampstand and on its left? …What are the two olive clusters beside the two golden pipes, emptying the golden oil from themselves? 13 And he answered me and said, Do you not know what these are? And I said, No, my lord. 14 And he said, These are the two sons of fresh oil who stand by Jahweh of the whole earth.”

3. STANDING ORDERS

Now that I know what the assembly means and that I know that I am an Israelite by faith through Jesus the Messiah I can determine what the standing orders from the Commander in Chief for me are.

1. We are told to count the cost.

Luke 14:31 Or what king, going out to engage in conflict with another king, will not first sit down and consider and take counsel whether he is able with the thousand men to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

2. We are told not to fear.

Ps 27: 3 Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though wars arise against me, even then will I be confident.

3. We are told that we must observe and do all that we are

commanded to do. This statement is like a knife, it has two sides:

On the one hand: we must stand, be strong and have courage

And on the other hand, we must meditate on the Torah/Word day and night. I must be a Torah/Bible Scholar AND a General

at the same time. Jos 1: 5-9 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Be strong and of good courage , for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only you be strong and very courageous, that you may do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you. Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.(Amp.)

4. We are told to renew our minds. We have to ensure that our war is against the Kingdom of Darkness based on a foundation of righteousness and not on pride based on our own abilities. James 4:2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have, and you can’t possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them. And yet the reason you don’t have what you want is that you don’t ask God for it. (N.L.T.) 1 Pet 2:11 Dear brother and sisters, you are foreigners and aliens here. So I warn you to keep away from evil desires because they fight against you very souls.(N.L.T.) 5. We are told to endure. 2 Tim 2: 1- 4, 11. “1 SO YOU, my son, be strong (strengthened inwardly) in the grace (spiritual blessing) that is [to be found only] in Christ Jesus. 2 And the [instructions] which you have heard from me along with many witnesses, transmit and entrust [as a deposit] to reliable and faithful men who will be competent and qualified to teach others also. 3 Take [with me] your share of the hardships and suffering [which you are called to endure] as a good (first-class) soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of [civilian] life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him.” 11 The saying is sure and worthy of confidence: If we have died with Him, we shall also live with Him.

4. VISION OF WAR Daniel, the end time prophet is given a “vision of war”. He sees what happens to the assembly/Bride of Christ because we are disobedient to his Torah / Word and because we are unrepentant in our ways. The prophetic word has a literal interpretation i.e. war and the resultant defeat of Gods people but carries with it a spiritual reality. In order to understand this spiritual division we need to understand the following principle established in Gods Torah / Word. 1 Cor 15:46 “46 But it is not the spiritual life which came first, but the physical and then the spiritual.” We now see that everything established in the Spiritual must first be established in the physical / natural. Prayer, intercession, petition in the physical realm, i.e. cause & effect, set off a reaction in the spiritual for the army of God to move into battle in the spiritual realm. Equally, disobedience to God’s Torah / Word leads to the fact that God’s army of angels are prohibited from action and we fight and lose on our own. Dan 10:12 – 13 Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before you God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the Kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia. CAUSE: Daniel prays EFFECT : Michael comes to help Gabriel. A second principle is also highlighted here namely that the Kingdom of darkness in regimented into a clearly structured army. Dan 10:13 But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia. Dan 10:20 He replied, “Do you know why I have come? Soon I must return to fight against the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia, and then against the spirit prince of the kingdom of Greece. Eph 6:12 For we are not fighting against people made of flesh a nd blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms

5. PATTERN OF THE WAR AGAINST THE ASSEMBLY OF GOD / BRIDE OF CHRIST Daniel is given a vision of the end time war. He is told who the enemy will be. He is also told what the results of the war would be. History will reveal to us the cause and effect that gives this prophesy a foundation. We will see that the Assembly of God will commit sin, be unrepentant, be attacked and sent to exile. Overview of the Pattern of Attack on the Church We are required to be:

PROPHET PRIEST KING Rev 1: 6 He has made us His Kingdom and his priests who serve before God his Father. Give everlasting glory! He rules forever and ever! Amen! A simple analysis of the function of these anointings will tell you what corresponding elements of man we are dealing with.

/ Reborn. 1. Attack against the Prophetic Voice Daniel finds himself in exile in the King’s Court at Babylon. Dreams and visions to give direction to God’s people had been put on hold. The prophetic voice is only restored (for the Israelites and the Body of Christ) towards the end of the exile after Nebuchadnezzar had died. Dan. 1:1-4 “1 IN THE third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with a part of the vessels of the house of God; and he carried them into the land of Shinar [Babylonia] to the house of his god and placed the vessels in the treasury o f his god. 3 And the [Babylonian] king told Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring in some of the children of Israel, both of the royal family and of the nobility— 4 Youths without blemish, well-favored in appearance and skillful in all wisdom, discernment, and understanding, apt in learning knowledge, competent to stand and serve in the king’s palace—and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.”

The prophetic word is meant to lead, to give direction to God’s people and to empower them to live in victory. Due to rebellion / idol worship, the people of Israel are exiled – Daniel now has to use the prophetic gift to interpret a foreign king’s dreams. Dan. 2:27-28 “27 Daniel answered the king, The [mysterious] secret which the king has demanded neither the wise men, enchanters, magicians, nor astrologers can show the king, 28 But there is a God in heaven Who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what it is that shall be in the latter days (at the end of days). Your dream and the visions in your head upon your bed are these:” We see a continuation of this pattern in the New Testament:

ß In the time of John the Baptist, we find a similar situation – the people no longer followed God with all of their hearts.

John is imprisoned and finally killed to quiet the Voice

in the Wilderness.

ß The Apostle John is banished to the Island Patmos in an attempt to quieten the prophetic word.

2. Attack against the Physical Body / Priesthood We find the physical manifestation of this story recorded in the Book of Esther. The spirit of Amalek rises up as the second War / Empire to destroy the people of Israel / Body of Christ physically (represented by the king of Persia as a Ram). Dan. 8:4, 20 “4 I looked and saw the ram [Medo-Persia] pushing and charging westward and northward and southward; no beast could stand before him, neither could anyone rescue from his power, but he did according to his [own] will and pleasure and magnified himself. 20 The ram you saw having two horns, they are the kings of Media and Persia.” We see in this recording of history that Haman / Amalek use occultic powers to obtain the right to attempt to destroy the Jews physically, i.e. to remove that “royal priesthood and the holy nation” entirely. The actions of Mordecai, Esther and Hathach who make a stand “at a time such as this” make a way to bring a reversal of the fortunes of the nation.

3. Attack against the Spirit man / Kingship The third war comes under the leadership of the king of Greece (represented by a male goat). Dan. 8:5, 21 “5 As I was considering, behold, a he-goat [the king of Greece] came from the west across the face of the whole earth without touching the ground, and the goat had a conspicuous and remarkable horn between his eyes [symbolizing Alexander the Great]. 21 And the shaggy and rough he-goat is the king of Greece, and the great horn between his eyes is the first king [who consolidated the whole realm, Alexander the Great].” The Greek kingdom rose up against God’s Word / Torah, His commandments / His feasts / etc. in a process of spiritual warfare where the Israelites / Body of Christ are attacked in the area of mind / faith resulting in our values being changed from: God-Centered to World-Centered. This prophetic word is fulfilled during the time period between the Old Testament and the New Testament and is recorded in the history books. The Maccabees respond to God’s call and defeat the Greeks. We celebrate this at the Festival of Lights – Chanukah. 4. Attack against the totality of Man: Body, Soul and Spirit

The Fourth war comes in two phases and is prophesied in: Dan. 7:23 “23 Thus [the angel] said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all other kingdoms and shall devour the whole earth, tread it down, and break it in pieces and crush it.” Dan. 7:24-25 “24 And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise; and another shall arise after them, and he shall be different from the former ones, and he shall subdue and put down three kings. 25 And he shall speak words against the Most High [God] and shall wear out the saints of the Most High and think to change the time [of sacred feasts and holy days] and the law; and the saints shall be given into his hand for a time, two times, and half a time [three and one-half years].” In this phase the beast is described as a leopard / dragon. 1) The first phase attack has already manifested in the physical when the kingdom of Rome rose up against Israel at the time of Jahshua’s ministry and shortly thereafter. In the vision of the wars, we see that the attack will come from different kingdoms, but also in different forms. As each of the challenges are experienced and worked through with:

- repentance - prayer and intercession - and the restoration of God’s purposes

we will find that the war becomes: - all encompassing - of greater intensity

We find in the onslaught from Rome a type of war which encompassed all of the aspects from previous campaigns with the sole purpose of destroying God’s creation: ONE NEW MAN. Satan / Rome attacks the:

ß Spirit – destroy / kills the Messiah ß Mind – ridicules the belief system and empowers the Roman Catholic

Church. ß Body – Kills and banishes a nation into exile for over 2000 years.

2) The Body of Christ is currently living in the time of the second phase all-out-attack. We call this the “birth pangs” of the return of the Messiah. The following diagram serves to show the interaction of the concepts of Prophet / Priest and King and that of Spiritual Warfare. We are always at war – we have to use the Kairos moment to see the past and the future. Community level:

Generational Curse / Foundation for this Prophetic word to materialize: In the “vision of War” we are told that there will be a war. We are not told what the cause “root of the evil” is which creates the foundation for this prophetic word to materialize. However, the history of the Assembly of God (the Jewish People) reveals the following: ÿ Abraham set a standard of righteous living. ÿ Isaac his son follows in his footstep to such a degree that we see that he never

leaves the land of the covenant. ÿ Jacob moves into his prophetic calling to build the nation (the 12 tribes). ÿ Moses / Joshua and others are powerful leaders who take the people out of

Egypt and back into the Promised Land. But after 400 years they start a process of rebellion.

ÿ The book of Judges describes an interesting period in the history of this people of God.

1. The nation was united in the service to God. Judges 2: 4 – 5 When the angel of the Lord finished speaking, the Israelites wept loudly. So they called the place “Weeping,” and they offered sacrifices to the Lord. Judges 20: 1-2 Then all the Israelites, from Dan to Beersheba and from the land of Gilead, came together in one large assembly and stood in the presence of the Lord at Mizpah. The leaders of all the people and all the tribes of Israel – 400.000 warriors armed with swords – took their positions in the assembly of the people of God. Judges 20: 23 For they had gone up to Bethel and wept in the presence of the Lord until evening. Then they asked the Lord, “Should we fight against our relatives from Benjamin again?” And the Lord said, “Go out and fight against them.” 2. Each man did right in his own eyes i.e. ruled by God. His own conscience was enough to bring him to the assembly for: - WAR - SERVICE

3. They produced no ancient wonder such as the tower of Babel or the wall in China, instead they spread the Word of God. However at the end of this time, the assembly/ nation makes a choice, which sets them on a path of destruction. They chose a monarchy / king and surrendered their individual conscience to one man. What follows is a record of a people who move steadily away from God until the destruction of the 1st temple by the Babylonians - Sexual immorality - Murder - Idol worship These sins are the cause / root of the first war (the war against Babylon). Principle of Jacob / Esau – the might shall pass from the one to the other.

We see that the people repent and return to build the temple i.e. as prayer / praise and worship and Torah / Bible study take place the hand of Jacob / God is strengthen to fight the kingdom of darkness. This is the story of Nehemiah / Ezra / Esther. This pattern of life style choice by the assembly continue and soon they make a choice once again move away from God with the sin of baseless hatred. Ezek 33: 23 – 33 Then this message came to me from the Lord: “Son of man, the scattered remnants of Judah living among the ruined cities keep saying, ‘Abraham was only one man, and yet he gained possession of the entire land! We are many; surely the land should be given to us as a possession.’ Now give these people this message from the Sovereign lord: You eat meat with blood in it, you worship idols, and you murder the innocent. Do you really think the land should be yours? Murderers! Idolaters! Should the land belong to you? “Give them this message from the Sovereign Lord: As surely as I live, those living in the ruins will die by the sword. Those living in the open fields will be eaten by wild animals. Those hiding in the forts and caves will die of disease. I will destroy the land and demolish her pride. Her arrogant power will come to an end. The mountains of Israel will be so ruined that no one will even travel through them. When I have ruined the land because of their disgusting sins, then they will know that I am the Lord. “Son of man, your people are whispering behind your back. They talk about you in their houses and whisper about you at the doors, saying, ‘Come on, let’s have some fun! Let’s go hear the prophet tell us what the Lord is saying!’ So they come pretending to be sincere and sit before you listening. But they have no intention of doing what I tell them. They express love with their mouths, but their hearts seek only after money. You are very entertaining to them, like someone who sings love songs with a beautiful voice or plays fine music on an instrument. They hear what you say, but they don’t do it! But when all these terrible things happen to them – as they certainly will – then they will know a prophet has been among them.” - Sin - Lack of obedience - Talking but not doing.

And once again we find the cycle being repeated where the Jewish people go to war with the Greeks and finally Rome, bringing to fulfillment the prophecy spoken by Daniel. We have seen the physical evidence of these wars – now all that remains is the final onslaught in the physical before the Kingdom of Darkness goes to war against God in the Spiritual domain.

Cycle of our fluctuating faithfulness: THE PRINCIPLE OF JACOB VS ESAU -- that the might will pass from one to the other has a further ramification for the end time church. Not only will we have to stand firm to break this chain of generational curses but our faithfulness, steadfastness and dedication in warfare will be tested as we guard against the spirit of compromise. Jacob, one of the fathers of our faith makes a strategic decision to compromise when he should have trusted in God.

The background to this decision is as follows: Jacob meets with God on his way to stay with Laben. Jacob meets with God on his way back (Gen 32:31) not only meets but

prevails and has a permanent mark (physical) to remind him of the spiritual victory.

Jacob has found the value of prayer and repentance and yet he makes

plans to defend himself in the natural. Jacob comes to meet Esau. He has crossed over the river and is now in

the land of Canaan i.e. he is in the land of promise / the covenant. Jacob allows the fear of man to bring a spirit of compromise to operate. He takes his family and possessions and divides them in two. He wanted

to ensure that at least a part of his tribe and possessions would escape unscathed. In this process he comprised with Esau, strengthened the hand of Esau and although there was no loss of life he established the root / foundation that his descendent would live first as equals but later as slaves.

However God promises us that Jacob (the Kingdom of light) will triumph

over Esau (the Kingdom of Darkness). We need to make a 100% commitment to this fight to ensure this result in our lives, in our lifetime. We must be living truth that God’s Word is true, and that the prophetic word is being fulfilled. Obadiah 1: 17 – 21 “But Jerusalem will become a refuge for those who escape; it will be a holy place. And the people of Israel will come back to reclaim their inheritance. At that time Israel will be a raging fire, and Edom, a field of dry stubble. The fire will roar across the field, devouring everything and leaving no survivors in Edom. I, the Lord, have spoken! “Then my people of Benjamin will occupy the land of Gilead. The exiles of Israel will return to their land and occupy the Phoenician coast as far north as Zarephath. The captives from Jerusalem exiled in the north will return to their homeland and resettle the villages of the Negev. Deliverers will go up to Mount Zion in Jerusalem to rule over the mountains of Edom. And the LORD Himself will be King!” What is clear from this passage is that the Body of Christ / Assembly must be united.

Isa 11: 14-15 They will join forces to swoop down on Philistia to the west. Together they will attack and plunder the nations to the east. They will occupy all the lands of Edom, Moab, and Ammon. The Lord will make a dry path through the Red Sea. He will wave his hand over the Euphrates River, sending a mighty wind to divide it into seven streams that can easily be crossed. Gen 33: 14 “ ….So go on ahead of us. We will follow at our own pace and meet you at Seir.” The house of Jacob and the house of Joseph will stand together. Num 24: 17 I see him, but not in the present time. I perceive him, but far in the distant future. A star will rise from Jacob; A scepter will emerge from Israel. It will crush the foreheads of Moab’s people, cracking the skulls of the people of Sheth

6. PROPHETIC RESTORATION OF THE ANOINTING OF THE PROPHET, PRIEST AND KING BY DAVID The first book of the New Testament starts with the family tree of Jesus. Matt. 1:5 “1 THE BOOK of the ancestry (genealogy) of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the son (descendant) of David, the son (descendant) of Abraham.” One would need to ask WHY there is this emphasis on the connection with the house of David? What purpose and goal had David achieved which we need to understand in order to stand in the battle of spiritual warfare? If we return to the story of David we find the following Covenental promise made by God to David: a) Promise that from David’s seed the Messiah will come. 2 Sam 7:12 “12 And when your days are fulfilled and you sleep with your fathers, I will set up after you your offspring who shall be born to you, and I will establish his kingdom.” b) Promise that God will build: - a House - a Kingdom - a Throne 2 Sam 7:13-17 “13 He shall build a house for My Name [and My Presence], and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. When he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men. 15 But My mercy and loving-kindness shall not depart from him, as I took [them] from Saul, whom I took away from before you.” 16 And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you; your throne shall be established forever. 17 In accordance with all these words and all this vision Nathan spoke to David. c) Promise of the “time” to come. There is an implication that a son of David (Jesus the Messiah) will rule. This is clearly in a time which is yet to come. Why? 1. The people are at rest. 2 Sam. 7:1 “1 WHEN KING David dwelt in his house and the Lord had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies,”

2. The people have a place of their own. 2 Sam. 7:10 “10 And I will appoint a place for My people Israel and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and be moved no more. And wicked men shall afflict them no more, as formerly” What was the reason why this family line was so acceptable to God? We see in the book of Exodus that God has saught to re-astablish the anointing of prophet, priest and king in the life of Moses. KING, PROPHET AND PRIEST Just before Moses died he pronounced a final blessing over Israel. Before he blessed each tribe individually he first issues a commandment to the entire congregation of Jacob “that we should keep the torah (law) as a legacy/heritage forever”. Deut 33:4 When Moses commanded us a law, as a possession for the assembly of Jacob. The first thing to note is that it is a commandment to the congregation, i.e. to all those who believe that God is the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This “all” include the direct descendants as well as those who are “born again” by faith. Secondly, we must keep the torah, i.e. we must trust and obey God’s Word in its fullest sense. Thirdly, when the congregation (whole body) keeps the torah (in unity) then the result is a legacy/heritage. What is a legacy/heritage? It is an inheritance that is passed onto the children in a magnified manner, exponential growth, during the lifetime of the father. God’s plan to implement this in the family is when the father fulfils his roles as prophet, priest and king. It is clear that God’s intention was that one figure would be worthy to fill all three roles in unity and power. However, we find that this was not the case with Moses. Why? God’s intervention (life changing) in Moses’ life happened at the event called the “burning bush”.

Moses called to kingship He saw the burning bush and went closer until… “God said, Do not come near; put your shoes off your feet, for the place on which you stand is holy ground” (Ex 3:5). We see that it’s holy ground (holo’m), which indicates kingship/monarchy. God called Moses to lead the people. However, Moses declined the calling to kingship. Ex 3:11, 13; 4:1 “And Moses said to God, Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt? … When I come to the Israelites and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, What is His name? What shall I say to them? … They will not believe me or listen to and obey my voice; for they will say, The Lord has not appeared to you.” We know that Moses has been aware of God for a long time. The time of loneliness in the desert must have lead to prayer and intercession. It is clear that Moses knew who God was – he just didn’t see himself as the one who should be God’s instrument as king. It is likely that his sense of prayer and intercession and spiritual awareness had already been well developed (he clearly flowed in these gifts easily later on) and so could easily have thought that his calling was rather to be a priest. Moses called to priesthood Moses continued to debate with God. God moved to test Moses in the area/calling of priesthood. Ex 4:2 “And the Lord said to him, What is that in your hand? And he said, A rod.” We see God identify the “sign” of the priest as the staff: What is that (zeh) in your hand? In a process of two miracles, the rod turning into a snake and back again and his hand turning leprous and back again, God showed Moses that, as priest and intercessor, the relationship would blossom and be sufficient to deal with every situation. However, Moses declined the priesthood. Ex 4:10, 13 “And Moses said to the Lord, O Lord, I am not eloquent or a man of words, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and have a heavy and awkward tongue… Oh, my Lord, I pray You, send by the hand of [some other] whom You will send.”

Moses as Prophet / Torah Scholar God’s anger was raised against Moses (Ex 4:14). And so Aaron, the Levite, was raised to High Priest and Moses was only a Levite, but the one who became the prophet scholar. This role was later confirmed when God called him to “stand here by Me” and Moses lived out this calling until he died. Deut 5:31-33 “But you [Moses], stand here by Me, and I will tell you all the commandments and the statutes and the precepts which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess. Therefore you people shall be watchful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land which you shall possess.” Moses went on to become a great prophet/scholar, exponent of the Word of God. However, his rejection of God’s role for him lead to a path in the Old Testament where, instead of the three roles being unified, we find that the role of prophet and priest are interrelated, but the role of priest is always mutually exclusive of the role of kingship/monarchy. We will later discuss some of the results when those roles are taken on by the wrong bloodline and the consequences that come from that. SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY We have just seen that God has a plan for the implementation of his will through the function of a person in all levels of his being, functioning in complete unity. Paul speaks out, at the end of his letter to the Thessalonians, a blessing of a functioning individual and an image of the Body of Christ.

1 Thes 5:23-24 “And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He Who is calling you and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you].” The most important facts are:

1. Complete sanctification. 2. Whole spirit, soul and body. 3. Those who are faithful (trust and obey) will do it.

Jesus repeats this principle in Matt 22:37: And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Yahshua is expanding on the greatest commandment to love God with all of your heart, soul and mind. Although He uses the word “mind” He is not talking about the mind in the sense of intellect, but in the sense of the body, i.e. a physical being, which is actually moving to perform God’s will because the mind has issued the instruction. We can now illustrate this interaction/relationship as follows: Spiritual calling

This principle is defined in 1 Cor 15:46: 1 Cor 15:46 “But it is not the spiritual life which came first, but the physical and then the spiritual.” This implies that we have to do, carry out physically, God’s will and desire for our lives before the results can be seen in the spiritual dimension. How do we physically react to God’s Word, i.e. eyes, ears, nose and mouth?

If we take time to rearrange these in context to the “calling” and unity of my being (body, soul and spirit) we get the following: Spiritual calling

The process of reasoning is to pull a story through from the concept of unity of the individual to the spiritual purpose and function of God. God’s reflection of His unity/function is found in the earthly temple. The temple furniture is an image of that found in the Heavenly Temple. Heb. 8:5 “5 [But these offer] service [merely] as a pattern and as a foreshadowing of [what has its true existence and reality in] the heavenly sanctuary. For when Moses was about to erect the tabernacle, he was warned by God, saying, See to it that you make it all [exactly] according to the copy (the model) which was shown to you on the mountain.” We analyse the temple, highlighting the following furniture: 1. Table of shewbread Ex 37:11 “He overlaid it with pure gold and made a molding of gold around its top.” This speaks of wealth, of plenty, of the abundance of provision, which is the inheritance of a king. 2. The golden altar When at rest, the altar stands with the poles out of the rings – at a place of submission to God. Every sacrifice made of prayer, petition and intercession causes incense to rise up to God. Ex 37:26 “He overlaid it with pure gold, its top, its sides round about, and its horns; also he made a rim around it of gold.”

3. The ark and the menorah The menorah points to the light of God: As its flame burns forever so does God’s goodness. This speaks of a good “name”. The ark represents a throne for God’s Presence. God’s Presence is given to us through His torah (Word) and the Holy Spirit. Ex 37:2 “He overlaid it with pure gold within and without and made a molding or crown of gold to go around the top of it.” These artifacts of the temple are the only ones that are covered by gold. Gold represents the purity of God and is a crown. We have a heritage/legacy/inheritance of a crown: The 1111 crown of the prophet/torah scholar, the 2222 crown of the priesthood and the 3333 crown of the kingship. If we live a life of victory, purpose and destiny we will be known as a royal priesthood, a separate people set apart. David lives and breathes the prophetic return of the unity of the anointing of prophet, priest and king. In his lifetime he functions in all of these anointings – many of the Psalms are evidence of his understanding and insight of the path which the Messiah would walk many /14 (Matt.1:17) generations later. In his own way he expressed a “shadow” of the things to come, of Jesus. Largely because of his prophetic calling and lifestyle he set up a platform for the Jewish nation to stand upon when the attacks manifested themselves. THE LIFE OF DAVID AS A PROPHETIC SHADOW FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE PROPHETIC ANOINTING BY YAHSHUA. Yahshua himself speaks of and asks the people whether God had made covenant with the house of David. John 8:41-42 “41 You are doing the works of your [own] father. They said to Him, We are not illegitimate children and born out of fornication; we have one Father, even God. 42 Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me and respect Me and welcome Me gladly, for I proceeded (came forth) from God [out of His very presence]. I did not even come on My own authority or of My own accord (as self-appointed); but He sent Me.”

In Hebrews God declares that Yahshua is the One of whom the prophet of old spoke. Heb. 1:1-2 “1 IN MANY separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets, 2 [But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order].” Yahshua shows that David intimately knew the Holy Spirit – he had freedom and liberty to come into the temple. Mark 2:25-26 “25 And He said to them, Have you never [even] read what David did when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were accompanying him?— 26 How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was the high priest, and ate the sacred loaves set forth [before God], which it is not permitted or lawful for any but the priests to eat, and [how he] also gave [them] to those who were with him?” Peter tells us of the word of Yahshua and tells the people that David spoke / prophesied of the life and purpose of Yahshua. Acts 2:25-29 “25 For David says in regard to Him, I saw the Lord constantly before me, for He is at my right hand that I may not be shaken or overthrown or cast down [from my secure and happy state]. 26 Therefore my heart rejoiced and my tongue exulted exceedingly; moreover, my flesh also will dwell in hope [will encamp, pitch its tent, and dwell in hope in anticipation of the resurrection]. 27 For You will not abandon my soul, leaving it helpless in Hades (the state of departed spirits), nor let Your Holy One know decay or see destruction [of the body after death]. 28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will enrapture me [diffusing my soul with joy] with and in Your presence. 29 Brethren, it is permitted me to tell you confidently and with freedom concerning the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.” Peter tells us in his sermon that David spoke of the life and purpose of Yahshua. (Acts 2: 25-29) Peter goes on to affirm and declare that David is an end-time Prophet: Acts 2:30-31 “30 Being however a prophet, and knowing that God had sealed to him with an oath that He would set one of his descendants on his throne, 31 He, foreseeing this, spoke [by foreknowledge] of the resurrection of the Christ (the Messiah) that He was not deserted [in death] and left in Hades (the state of departed spirits), nor did His body know decay or see destruction.”

David flows prophetically declaring an end time revelation (Ps. 110): a) Yahshua has ascended to heaven (verse 1) b) He rules the bride of Christ until… (verse 2-4) c) He sees the end time battle (verse 5-6) d) He sees the heavenly reign from a New Jerusalem (verse 7). THE LIFE OF DAVID AS A PRIESTLY SHADOW FOR THE RESTORATION OF PRIESTHOOD BY JESUS THE MESSIAH God speaks through David to declare that the priesthood will be restored by the Messiah. 1000 years before Yahshua comes to the earth David in Ps. 110 writes: Ps. 110:1 “1 THE LORD (God) says to my Lord (the Messiah), Sit at My right hand, until I make Your adversaries Your footstool. 2 The Lord will send forth from Zion the scepter of Your strength; rule, then, in the midst of Your foes. 3 Your people will offer themselves willingly in the day of Your power, in the beauty of holiness and in holy array out of the womb of the morning; to You [will spring forth] Your young men, who are as the dew. 4 The Lord has sworn and will not revoke or change it: You are a priest forever, after the manner and order of Melchizedek.” He declares through this Psalm: 1. that robes of the priest would be substituted for righteousness at Yom Kippur. 2. that the wages of sin (death) would be taken out of our reach. 3. that the “unequal” animal sacrifice by a livitical priesthood would be replaced by a perfect priesthood of Jeshua as Messiah. Peter in his serman in Acts declares and verifies this very statement: Acts 2:32-36 “32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that all we [His disciples] are witnesses. 33 Being therefore lifted high by and to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promised [blessing which is the] Holy Spirit, He has made this outpouring which you yourselves both see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens; yet he himself says, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand and share My throne 35 Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. 36 Therefore let the whole house of Israel recognize beyond all doubt and acknowledge assuredly that God has made Him both Lord and Christ (the Messiah)—this Jesus Whom you crucified.”

David understands and declares that the priesthood would be restored to the order of Mechizedek: Heb. 7:20-22 “20 And it was not without the taking of an oath [that Christ was made Priest], 21 For those who formerly became priests received their office without its being confirmed by the taking of an oath by God, but this One was designated and addressed and saluted with an oath, The Lord has sworn and will not regret it or change His mind, You are a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. 22 In keeping with [the oath’s greater strength and force], Jesus has become the Guarantee of a better (stronger) agreement [a more excellent and more advantageous covenant].” Gen. 14:18 “18 Melchizedek king of Salem [later called Jerusalem] brought out bread and wine [for their nourishment]; he was the priest of God Most High,” Ps. 110:3-4 “3 Your people will offer themselves willingly in the day of Your power, in the beauty of holiness and in holy array out of the womb of the morning; to You [will spring forth] Your young men, who are as the dew. 4 The Lord has sworn and will not revoke or change it: You are a priest forever, after the manner and order of Melchizedek.” THE LIFE OF DAVID AS A KINGLY SHADOW FOR THE RESTORATION OF KINGSHIP BY JESUS THE MESSIAH David sets the seat / throne of a restored Messianic kingdom. He sees the King sitting on the holy hill of Zion. Ps. 2:6-8 “6 Yet have I anointed (installed and placed) My King [firmly] on My holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, You are My Son; this day [I declare] I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth as Your possession.” David sees Yahshua sitting at the right hand of the Father. Ps. 110:1 “1 THE LORD (God) says to my Lord (the Messiah), Sit at My right hand, until I make Your adversaries Your footstool. 2 The Lord will send forth from Zion the scepter of Your strength; rule, then, in the midst of Your foes.” David prophesies that Yahshua, as Messiah, sitting at the right hand of the father is ruling His Bride through the Holy Spirit until His enemies are at His footstool.

GOD LAYS CLAIM TO THE LAND AND THE THRONE David therefore in his lifetime and in his Psalms establishes a principle in the physical so that it can later manifest in the spiritual. 1. God lays claim to the land (Israel, a remnant) therefore God has right to possess the earth. Ps. 60:67 “6 God has spoken in His holiness [in His promises]: I will rejoice, I will divide and portion out [the land] Shechem and the Valley of Succoth [west to east]. 7 Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is My helmet (the defense of My head); Judah is My scepter and My lawgiver.” David rules as king over a united Israel. Paul confirms that Yahshua is the Heir to the Promise – because God owned this part of the world, Israel, He can redeem (through Yahshua) the whole world. Rom. 4:13 “13 For the promise to Abraham or his posterity, that he should inherit the world, did not come through [observing the commands of] the Law but through the righteousness of faith.” 2. God lays claim to the throne of David (God’s remnant of a Godly Kingship) and therefore his right to World Domination. 2 Sam. 7:16 “16 And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you; your throne shall be established forever.” David rules as a united king having been accepted as king by both Judah and Israel so that God can confirm Yahshua as the King, as the SOVEREIGN KING OVER THE WHOLE REDEEMED WORLD. (Ps. 110:1) Heb. 1:8-13 “8 But as to the Son, He says to Him, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever (to the ages of the ages), and the scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of absolute righteousness (of justice and straightforwardness). …13 Besides, to which of the angels has He ever said, Sit at My right hand [associated with Me in My royal dignity] till I make your enemies a stool for your feet?”

FIRST WAR – ATTACK AGAINST THE ANOINTING OF THE PROPHET We are required to be: PROPHET PRIEST KING Rev. 1:6 “6 And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race), priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever. Amen (so be it).” A simple analysis of the function of these anointings will tell you what the corresponding elements of man we are dealing with. The first war is described for us in the final chapters of the Book of Jeremiah. We see the final defeat in the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon. Jer. 52: 12-15 “12 Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, there came to Jerusalem Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, who stood and served before the king of Babylon. 13 And he burned the house of the Lord and the king’s house and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he consumed with fire. 14 And all the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of the guard broke down all the walls round about Jerusalem. 15 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive some of the poorest of the people and those who were left in the city [at the time it was captured], along with those who went out to the king of Babylon [during the siege] and the remnant of the multitude [the country’s working people].” As we analyze the books of Jeremiah and Daniel we find something very interesting – this foreign king takes for his service the very cream of the crop / the best of the best of the Jewish young men. Dan. 1:4 “4 Youths without blemish, well-favored in appearance and skillful in all wisdom, discernment, and understanding, apt in learning knowledge, competent to stand and serve in the king’s palace—and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.” We know that the people of Israel had been blessed with a multitude of talents and abilities. So too, here we saw that they could discern the times and the seasons.

Prophets are those people who speak for God / Hashem. Heb. 1:1 “1 IN MANY separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets,” They are primarily:

- preachers of righteousness Acts 15:32 “32 And Judas and Silas, who were themselves prophets (inspired interpreters of the will and purposes of God), urged and warned and consoled and encouraged the brethren with many words and strengthened them.”

- foretellers of the future Acts 11:28 “28 And one of them named Agabus stood up and prophesied through the [Holy] Spirit that a great and severe famine would come upon the whole world. And this did occur during the reign of Claudius.”

Luke 24:44 “44 Then He said to them, This is what I told you while I was still with you: everything which is written concerning Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” The prophet was there to guide / lead / give direction to God’s people. There are three Hebrew words that translate to the word “prophet”:

1) The first is “Nabi” and means “an inspired man” – however in Daniel it is translated as prophecy.

2) The other two words define a level of clarity in what is seen: Ra-ah – to discern what you see Choseh – to gaze at a vision

It is clear as we cast a glance over Daniel’s life that we can see that he was a “Nabi” prophet who operated at the “ra-ah” level of clarity. He was able to discern what the dream meant in the spiritual and the physical/ natural.

- Daniel 2 – given the king dream and its interpretation. - Daniel 4 – dream of the tree - Daniel 5 – writing on the wall.

In this first part of Daniel’s life, we find that he is forced to use this gift / calling / anointing to give direction to pagan kings. Summary: Nature of Suffering EXILE for 70 years. No

Cycle of Restoration of the Prophet: 1st phase: We find that Daniel and his three friends make a choice to lead holy lives, separated unto God. 20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king asked them, he found them ten times better than all the [learned] magicians and enchanters who were in his whole realm.” 3rd Phase: We will always be faced with trails and tribulations. These storms are things that we have to deal with. Whatever my attitude is, i.e.:

Either: o I look for the opportunity o I learn the lesson

o I sit back in defeat will determine how I come out on the other side. 1st Trial – to be taken into exile as a young man with the prospect of having to serve 70 years. Dan. 1:4 “4 Youths without blemish, well-favored in appearance and skillful in all wisdom, discernment, and understanding, apt in learning knowledge, competent to stand and serve in the king’s palace—and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.” 2nd Trial – Daniel and his friends are cast into the fiery furnace as they reverse the curse of idol worship that brought them to this place, by declaring and showing that they will not bow to idols. 3rd Trial – Daniel is cast into the lions den. Again the decree was enacted to put Daniel under pressure to bow to a foreign king, an idol. Daniel’s life story shows that we have to deal with the generational sins of a family and a land before we can expect the fullness of the restoration of our calling / anointing.

4th Phase: Daniel proves his loyalty to work and honours the earthly king with his God-given talents and abilities. As he deals with the trails and tribulations and reverses the curse of idolatry and compromise that was the cause for his captivity, he moved to a place of restoration. He moves from serving the earthly king to prophesying the purpose of God for His people, Israel in the immediate future, but also in the generation s to come – Vision of war, starting in Daniel 7 and onwards. New Testament Times: The prophet (God’s voice of direction to the people) will always face the “war of exile”. We find two good examples to study: 1) John the Baptist He came to proclaim a new way through the desert – many came to hear what he said. The kingdom of darkness’ agent, king Herod, has John imprisoned and eventually killed to shut down the prophetic word. 2) John This apostle is clearly the beloved of Jahshua, but his words of life are cut short and he is exiled to Patmos. As in the case of Daniel – it is here in “prison” that he gets confirmation of the final battle in the War of Visions.

8. SECOND WAR – ATTACK AGAINST THE ANOINTING OF THE PRIEST The story is described in detail in Dan 5:1-30 where Belshazzer, the son of Nebuchadnezzar, counted the years, thought that the 70 years were past; that God had forsaken the Jews and then decides to celebrate with a feast for a 1000 of his lords where he called for the holy utensils of the temples, drank from them and died (the handwriting on the wall). We then have a change of kings when Darcus, the Mede, and Cyrus, the Persian, took over (Dan 6:1-28). God had softened the heart of king Cyrus and he permitted / instructed the tribe of Judah (Jews) to go back. So many didn’t. Why? A people who were called to be separate, a holy nation, a royal priesthood, instead wanted to be part of another people; they wanted to be seen as part of that people. This process was repeated in 1920-1930 when the German Jews wanted to be more German than Jew with the same consequences; six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust.

God’s Anointing 2nd War – Priest Area of Physical Body

What is the Priest’s job / anointing? The priest of the home / cell / church has to show the way: o of loving God with all of their hearts

and o of loving his neighbour as himself.

This love is not words / feeling but deeds of obedience to God’s Word. Every man is called to be the servant leader / priest of his home. This is the smallest unit of the Body of Christ. We should know what the key elements of priesthood are. We can then measure the degree of intimacy by these vital signs:

1. The Priest should be offering sacrifices: Heb. 10:11 “11 Furthermore, every [human] priest stands [at his altar of service] ministering daily, offering the same sacrifices over and over again, which never are able to strip [from every side of us] the sins [that envelop us] and take them away—“ The sacrifice of animals has been exchanged for a lifestyle of:

- prayer - intercession - good deeds (Mitzvah)

2. The Priest will “lift up / stand under” Godly leaders Any priest who is standing at his post will be supporting / lifting up all of God’s chosen leaders. Words of encouragement, protection and honour are part of a priest’s mantle of worship. In the Old Testament the priest carried:

- the tabernacle (Numbers 4-5) - the Ark (Josh. 3:1-17)

3. The Priest will anoint every article that is used in the tabernacle and consecrate it with oil/ The priest has a calling to make “incensed oil” – the works of the fruit of the spirit which have been crushed into oil and mixed with the incense of our prayers and worship should be poured over all in our house / the Body of Christ so that we can be holy / pure before God. Ex. 30:22-31 “22 Moreover, the Lord said to Moses, 23 Take the best spices: of liquid myrrh 500 shekels, of sweet-scented cinnamon half as much, 250 shekels, of fragrant calamus 250 shekels, 24 And of cassia 500 shekels, in terms of the sanctuary shekel, and of olive oil a hin. 25 And you shall make of these a holy anointing oil, a perfume compounded after the art of the perfumer; it shall be a sacred anointing oil. 26 And you shall anoint the Tent of Meeting with it, and the ark of the Testimony, 27 And the [showbread] table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, 28 And the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver [for cleansing] and its base. 29 You shall sanctify (separate) them, that they may be most holy; whoever and whatever touches them must be holy (set apart to God). 30 And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons and sanctify (separate) them, that they may minister to Me as priests. 31 And say to the Israelites, This is a holy anointing oil [symbol of the Holy Spirit], sacred to Me alone throughout your generations.”

4. The Priest will offer his first fruit. Any father has an obligation (based on the memorial of the 10th plague of the exodus) to bring a first fruit offering of his:

The priest will study, interpret and teach the Torah: Lev. 10:11 “11 And you are to teach the Israelites all the statutes which the Lord has spoken to them by Moses.” Mal. 2:7 “7 For the priest’s lips should guard and keep pure the knowledge [of My law], and the people should seek (inquire for and require) instruction at his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.” He will keep the “fire” of God’s Word burning for all to see by maintaining the Menorah: Ex. 27:20-21 “20 You shall command the Israelites to provide you with pure oil of crushed olives for the light, to cause it to burn continually [every night]. 21 In the Tent of Meeting [of God with His people], outside the veil which sets apart the Testimony, Aaron and his sons shall keep it burning from evening to morning before the Lord. It shall be a statute to be observed on behalf of the Israelites throughout their generations.” Lev. 24:3-4 “3 Outside the veil of the Testimony [between the Holy and the Most Holy Places] in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron shall keep it in order from evening to morning before the Lord continually; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. 4 He shall keep the lamps in order upon the lampstand of pure gold before the Lord continually.” 6. The Priest will build a wall of protection around his family through regular prayer / Shabbat / etc. As he speaks the weekly benediction over his family, he is calling on God to bless them:

Num. 6:22-27 “22 And the Lord said to Moses, 23 Say to Aaron and his sons, This is the way you shall bless the Israelites. Blow the trumpet: Num 10:2-12 “2 Make two trumpets of silver; of hammered or turned work you shall make them, that you may use them to call the congregation and for breaking camp. 3 When they both are blown, all the congregation shall assemble before you at the door of the Tent of Meeting. 4 And if one blast on a single trumpet is blown, then the princes or leaders, heads of the tribes of Israel, shall gather themselves to you. 5 When you blow an alarm, the camps on the east side [of the tabernacle] shall set out. 6 When you blow an alarm the second time, then the camps on the south side shall set out. An alarm shall be blown whenever they are to set out on their journeys. 7 When the congregation is to be assembled, you shall blow [the trumpets in short, sharp tones], but not the blast of an alarm. 8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets, and the trumpets shall be to you for a perpetual statute throughout your generations. 9 When you go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresses you, then blow an alarm with the trumpets, that you may be remembered before the Lord your God, and you shall be saved from your enemies. 10 Also in the day of rejoicing, and in your set feasts, and at the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and your peace offerings; thus they may be a remembrance before your God. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, a holy nation [consecrated, set apart to the worship of God]. These are the words you shall speak to the Israelites.” BUT the Book of Esther describes us “as seen by the world” as:

Esther 3:8 “8 Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from every other people, neither do they keep the king’s laws. Therefore it is not for the king’s profit to tolerate them.” A further analysis of the Torah / Word shows us something else. The Tribe of Judah and Benjamin had been taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar and forced into exile. Why had God allowed this to happen? The Jewish people had fallen into idolatry – this form of rebellion leads us to:

- reject our study of God’s Word / Torah - reject our values and ethical standards - break the commandments without fear of judgment - lead our children – the legacy – into a false belief system.

The Jewish people have however “served their time” – the time of exile was proclaimed as 70 years. Under King Darius a group of Jewish people returned to Jerusalem. Under Zerubbabel 42,360 people went back to Jerusalem. The rest of the Israelites exercised freedom of Choice to remain. Their choice to remain led to a further deterioration in spiritual standards so much so that they were perceived to be in disunity. The difference between the Jew and the Pagan was restricted to religious acts – compromise was the order of the day. The Jew / Body of Christ is hidden behind a mask of compromise. “I will conceal myself” We weep when our spiritual state has deteriorated to the extent that God withdraws His Presence from us. Deut. 31:18 “18 And I (God) will conceal myself in that day because of all the evil which they have done in turning to other gods.” “I will conceal myself” is written in Hebrew as: Ha Ster aStir

This can take place in two different ways: 1. We can go into sin in deeper and deeper levels until we no longer recognize our state of affairs. We no longer have any desire to repent. We can no longer sense God! We do not know what to look for!

2. We can live religious lives and put on a mask of words / works / law which is not from God. We are blinded by our “self”.

Leads to a place where we “forget” the difference between good and evil – we no longer have a guilty conscience.

This state will lead us to attend an orgy / feast. The Road Downhill The King invites all his subjects including the descendents of the tribe of Judah and Benjamin to a feast in the King’s palace. Esther 1:5 “5 And when these days were completed, the king made a feast for all the people present in Shushan the capital, both great and small, a seven-day feast in the court of the garden of the king’s palace.” Firstly, we must take note of the spiritual measure contained in the place of the feast:

- The King’s Court – denotes / refers to the World (Outer court of the Tabernacle).

- The Garden – refer to the Garden of Eden (Holy place of the Tabernacle)

- The King’s Palace – refers to the Holy of Holies. i.e. a foreign tabernacle.

The Jews went to the “Holy of Holies” of a foreign king, to attend a foreign feast and to gorge themselves on the food and wine for seven days. They accepted the invitation to “serve themselves” as a reward. The fact that they attend this feast on the Shabbat as well, fails to impact on their spiritual man. The Body of Christ does the same today!! Easter bunnies and Christmas! It is interesting that both the “Snake” in the garden of Eden and the “King / Haman’s” message was the same: “Eat of this tree.”

Phase 2: We need to identify and recognize the sin / actions which have lead to this place / position. As we “see” and “repent” we can move to a place of right standing. We can come to a place where our robes of righteousness are renewed. The platform that gave Haman / Amalek / kingdom of darkness a legal right to make war. The believers of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the Body of Christ have given legal right to the kingdom of darkness to practice occultic power and magic to such a level that we have the constellations aligned against us. Confidence of the Enemy: We can see that Haman had confidence to throw the lots over and over until the “right date” came up. He was content to wait 12 months to activate the decree because he thought that no opposition would be mounted. Esther 3:7 “7 In the first month, the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, Haman caused Pur, that is, lots, to be cast before him day after day [to find a lucky day for his venture], month after month, until the twelfth, the month of Adar.”

The reaction of a people / the Body of Christ who have not followed God with their whole heart, and who now “feel” and “face” the consequences of the judgment, is to find a scapegoat:

we accuse others as the culprits we transfer our own shortcoming onto others we seldom accept responsibility for our actions we don’t do much to make a difference.

a) History books of this time record that the Jews blamed:

i. Mordecai for meeting Haman. ii. Saul who did not kill Agag. iii. David for not executing Gera iv. Mordecai when he refused to bow to Haman.

2 Sam. 16:5-6 “5 When King David came to Bahurim, a man of the family of the house of Saul, Shimei son of Gera, came out and cursed continually as he came. 6 And he cast stones at David and at all the servants of King David; and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.” Esther 4:3 “3 And in every province, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping, and wailing, and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.”

b) King Saul “blames” the people and tells the high priest that they wanted to sacrifice. Samuel chooses to do God’s will, which was that king Agag was to die, but Saul spared his life because he wanted to show-off his “trophy” to the people. Thus the generational line of king Agag, the Amalekite continued and was not stopped according to God’s Will. Many years later, the seed of king Agag rose up against the Jews in the person of Haman.

5) The Jews / Body of Christ allow strife and challenging of God’s appointed leaders to allow the spirit of Amalek free reign.

The Israelites complain about Moses’ leadership and moan about the quality of water at places with the names of Massah and Meribah – the names mean:

o Contention o And Strife

This immediately opened the door to the spirit of Amalek.

Ex. 17:8 “8 Then came Amalek [descendants of Esau] and fought with Israel at Rephidim.” The question that Amalek / Haman / spirit of darkness asks is: How can I overpower them? The answer given: “As soon as they stumble or fall into sin – attack!”

Deut. 25:19 “19 Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about in the land which the Lord your God gives you to possess as an inheritance, you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens; you must not forget.” Although they defeat the Amalekites, they do not destroy them and we are left with this realization: We will have to deal with Amalek in every generation: Ex. 17:16 “16 And he said, Because [theirs] is a hand against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.” Everytime we are in rebellion the spirit of Amalek will reign. Here are some examples of times when the Israelites tried to defeat Amalek:

The Israelites try to go into Canaan after they have voted not to go: Num. 14:39-45 “39 Moses told [the Lord’s] words to all the Israelites, and [they] mourned greatly. 40 And they rose early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, Behold, we are here, and we intend to go up to the place which the Lord has promised, for we have sinned. 41 But Moses said, Why now do you transgress the command of the Lord [to turn back by way of the Red Sea], since it will not succeed? 42 Go not up, for the Lord is not among you, that you be not struck down before your enemies. 43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and you shall fall by the sword. Because you have turned away from following after the Lord, therefore the Lord will not be with you. 44 But they presumed to go up to the heights of the hill country; however, neither the ark of the covenant of the Lord nor Moses departed out of the camp. 45 Then the Amalekites came down and the Canaanites who dwelt in that hill country and smote the Israelites and beat them back, even as far as Hormah.”

King Saul was given the job to deal with the Amalekites, but failed. (1 Sam. 9-10)

King David has a skirmish with the spirit of Amalek – he sends his commander, Joab to fight, who kill all the males but leaves the females.

1 Kings 11:14-16 “14 The Lord stirred up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; he was of royal descent in Edom. 15 For when David was in Edom, and Joab the commander of Israel’s army went up to bury the slain, he slew every male in Edom. 16 For Joab and all Israel remained there for six months, until he had cut off every male in Edom.”

He goes himself, but somehow 400 young men “who rode on camels” flee. 1 Sam. 30: 1, 17 “1 NOW WHEN David and his men came home to Ziklag on the third day, they found that the Amalekites had made a raid on the South (the Negeb) and on Ziklag, and had struck Ziklag and burned it with fire, 17 And David smote them from twilight even to the evening of the next day, and not a man of them escaped, except 400 youths who rode camels and fled.”

He meets them from time to time: 1 Sam. 27:8-9 “8 Now David and his men went up and made attacks on the Geshurites, Girzites, and Amalekites [enemies of Israel Joshua had failed to exterminate]. For from of old those nations inhabited the land, as one goes to Shur even to the land of Egypt. 9 And David smote the land and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, oxen, donkeys, camels, and the apparel, and returned to Achish.” Phase 3: We need to act, to do and obey so that our physical actions are aligned with our spiritual purposes. Process of Restoration: 1) Mordecai / the Body of Christ must accept our destiny There are two significant facts for us to learn from this man of God. Firstly, we are told that Mordecai’s ancestry is from the line of Benjamin, but as we trace back the line of his ancestors, we see that only three are mentioned: Esther 2:5 “5 There was a certain Jew in the capital in Shushan whose name was Mordecai son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite,”

The Hebrew word for Jair is “OR”. “OR” = Light Son of Jair – means the one who enlightens my eyes – this means I can see clearly so that my prayers will be directed at the right target – prayer shows the way. The Hebrew word for Shimei is “SHIMA”. “SHIMA” = hear Son of Shimei – means to turn a deaf ear to the false accusations, threats of this world and to declare that God will hear my prayer. God hears our prayers. The Hebrew word for Kish is “MAKOSH”. “MAKOSH” = knock Son of Kish – means to knock on the Gates of Heaven until they open – to be committed, consistent, to persevere. Do you cry out / knock until you get a breakthrough? Mordecai means: “OR” = Light; “Shema” = Hear; “Makosh” = Knock We must not be known: - for my position in the community - for my title - for my place / possessions BUT For my position against anything that comes / stands up against the Kingdom of God. Secondly, we realize that Rachel – as one of the Matriarchs of the Jewish Nation – has birthed a legacy / destiny into both lines of sons. Somehow God has a plan that the men of God from this generational lineage would stand up to play a unique role. Rachel is Jacob’s first love. This relationship results in two children:

- Joseph - Benjamin

At the birth of Benjamin, Rachel dies and is buried at Bethlehem. Gen. 35:19 “19 So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath, that is, Bethlehem.”

Both her sons Joseph as the firstborn of his lineage, and Mordecai as a descendant of Benjamin would:

- stand up when the time came - raise a Godly standard - show a lifestyle of Godly character - impact a pagan king and nation

AND - Bring a turnaround victory for the entire Jewish people.

This will also be true of someone in the Body of Christ who carries a Rachel anointing. Both Joseph and Mordecai are in foreign lands, serving kings who are pagans. In both cases their own people are at risk from starvation and from murder. Both rise up to stand as leaders in the King’s house. The World will always fear that we grow strong:

- in number - spiritually

The King removes His ring to give us authority: Prophetic examples:

- Pharaoh removes his ring and gives it to Joseph: Gen. 41:42a “42 And Pharaoh took off his [signet] ring from his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand…”

- King Ahasuerus removes his ring and gives it to Mordecai:

Esther 8:2 “2 And the king took off his [signet] ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.” AND The King honours us with signs of royalty: Prophetic examples:

- Pharaoh honoured Joseph:

Gen. 41:42b “42 … and arrayed him in [official] vestments of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck;”

- King Ahasuerus honours Mordecai:

Esther 6:11 “11 Then Haman took the apparel and the horse and conducted Mordecai on horseback through the open square of the city, proclaiming before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.” We sometimes have to be sold into slavery to be in God’s perfect place: Examples:

- Joseph - Slave - Esther - Wife

2) Have faith and know that you are in the right place and at the right time. We may have many plans for our lives; dreams that have been formed by our parents / authority figures; talents and skills that we possess. We may have traveled a long road towards this dream – in fact much of it may be a reality today. We call this goal “takhlit”:

Some goals are simple: - To get married - To have children

Some goals are more ambitious: - to be the world champion of some sport - to discover / invent something new

The real questions are:

What are God’s goals? Are you ready to change direction if He says so?

a. All three of the personalities that we have carefully studied, had personal goals:

1) Mordecai, from the Word is clearly a man who became a Rabbi. He was one of the leaders of the synagogue. His goals was to be the “Pastor”.

2) Esther, would have wanted to marry a good Jewish boy and raise Godly children

3) Hathach, probably wanted to be a honest man of God. b. All three gave up a dream:

1) Mordecai is demoted in the synagogue 2) Esther is the bride of a pagan King. 3) Hathach is a eunuch in the King’s palace.

c. All three chose a new goal for a divine purpose / greater good. What we see here is that its only when we go through trials / tribulations that we get an opportunity to show the quality of God’s purpose. People who take hold of life’s challenges and do something for others, the community, the Body of Christ, will reap the reward.

1) Mordecai became known as a Godly ruler. 2) Esther became known as a Godly woman. 3) Hathach’s name is written in history as a messenger of God.

9. THIRD WAR – ATTACK AGAINST THE ANOINTING OF THE KING THE SYRIAN/GREEK ATTACK AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT Every so often during the life of the Jews they decide to reject God and serve foreign gods. The result is that they end up under the authority of some or other nation in exile. The Babylonian, Media-Persia and Romans all exiled the Jews physically to “lands not their own”, but God always protected them. Lev 26:44 And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn and cast them away, neither will I despise and abhor them to destroy them utterly and to break My covenant with them, for I am the Lord their God. The Greeks “inhabited” Israel and started a process of changing their minds/values, etc. from God-focused to world-focused, e.g. from “There is only one God” to “There are many gods”. As this happened the Jews “lost” their possession of Israel. They had to drive the Greeks out before they could reclaim the land. This principle of spiritual warfare – to deal with the attacks of satan – is set out in detail in Eph 6, i.e. we need to “renew” our minds, put on the armour of God and stand on God’s promise. The enemy will set up an initiative to attack the children of God. He will attack the mind to:

• Reform the Torah/Word. • Change our minds to other thinking patterns. • Change our hearts to “other” gods.

Deut 4:9-10 Only take heed, and guard your life diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen and lest they depart from your mind and heart all the days of your life. Teach them to your children and your children’s children – especially how on the day that you stood before the Lord your God in Horeb, the Lord said to me, Gather the people together to Me and I will make them hear My words, that they may learn reverently to fear Me all the days they live upon the earth and that they may teach their children.

• We need to take the initiative to gain our self-determination/freedom. • We need to drive out the “enemy” from our land. • Mattityahu was the man to lead the Jews. His name means “gift from

God”. This attack against the Jews was not physical but spiritual. The Greeks did not plan to exterminate the Jews but to change their minds.

There is an image from the Hebrew to show this! Two images are used to describe the Torah (Word) student:

• Donkey – A Torah student who accumulates knowledge – he carries a heavy load of knowledge and can apply the Word.

• Ox – The Torah student who “uproots” mountains – he delves down to refine his understanding; he turns over the soil to make it fertile; he looks for a harvest.

The image used by the Greeks to break down the Jews is “dog”. The dog has the power to ridicule: The dog barks as if he is scoffing at someone, i.e. why not enjoy life?; why not have physical pleasure? Only when the spirituality of the Jews was renewed and their resistance restored through warfare was the sound of dogs’ barking silenced.

What is the purpose of the Kingly anointing? What is the purpose of man as king / spirit man? We should reveal the impact of a spirit-filled / lead life. Our actions should represent the King of all Kings – we should be speaking / living from a mandate given to us by the Kingdom of God. God chooses the attribute of an earthly king very carefully to reveal the following spiritual principles. 1. Our spiritual leadership must be a spirit-filled person, someone who operates in Godly wisdom. We see that we need to choose people from our own tribe (definitely not from a pagan source): Deut. 17:15 “15 You shall surely set as king over you him whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner, who is not your brother, over you.” 2. A spirit-filled Godly leader will demonstrate his victory and control over:

ß Power, i.e. he must be humble, always seeking to build, always opposing the use of force.

Deut. 17: 20 “20 That his [mind and] heart may not be lifted up above his brethren and that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left; so that he may continue long, he and his sons, in his kingdom in Israel.”

ß Possessions, i.e. he must be a good steward of all that has been placed in his area of control, his integrity over finance must be impeccable, he must demonstrate an ability to empower others to prosper.

Deut. 17:17b “…neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.”

ß Woman – he must be a leader that honours and loves his wife, someone who uplifts woman to their rightful place in the society. He must exhibit a pure heart.

Deut. 17:17a “17 And he shall not multiply wives to himself, that his [mind and] heart turn not away...” 3. A spirit-filled servant leader will ensure that the principle of freedom from slavery in any form will be pursued at all costs. Any form of discrimination, anti-Semitism, etc will not be tolerated and opposition to all forms of dictatorship / rulership without rights will be encouraged. Deut. 17:16a “16 But he shall not multiply horses to himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to multiply horses...”

4. A spirit-filled servant leader’s lifestyle will reflect a reverant fear of God. It will be known that the “king” has written out his own copy of the Torah / Word, he will know and understand the laws and he will read the Torah to his people all the days of his life. 10. FOURTH WAR – ATTACK ON THE TOTALITY OF THE ONE NEW MAN In the progression of the “vision of the wars”, we see that the attack comes from different kingdoms, but also in different forms and times. As each of the challenges are experienced, worked through with:

- repentance - prayer and intercession - and the restoration of God’s purposes

we will find that the war becomes: - all encompassing - of greater intensity.

We find in this onslaught from the kingdom of Rome a type of war which encompasses all of the aspects from previous campaigns with the sole purpose to destroy God’s creation: THE ONE NEW MAN. Satan / Rome attacks the: Spirit – destroy / kill the Messiah. Mind – ridicules the Hebraic belief system and empowers the Roman Catholic Church. Body – Kill and banish a nation into exile for over 2000 years.

The Principality of the Beast / Leopard The Torah / Bible is strangely silent in telling of the story of this kingdom. Suffice to say the Bible records that “Rome” was in control /had taken occupation of Jerusalem at the time that Jesus lived, died and rose up again. The full force of Rome’s assault is recorded in the history of the 40-100 years after Jahshua was resurrected. The Horn (Alexander) is responsible for some of the most diablocal attacks of deceit and misrepresentation against both the people of Israel as well as the Body of Christ. His infiltration into the leadership, his introduction of pagan ideas and organizational structures plunged the church into the Dark Ages.

JESUS’ WORK OF REDEMPTION TO RESTORE THE UNITY OF THE ANOINTING OF PROPHET, PRIEST AND KING Since the time of the fall of Adam, the full crown of authority and anointing of prophet, priest and king, had not been restored back to mankind. David had pointed, as a shadow of things to come, towards the truth that this crown would be restored. Satan, of course knew that this was part of the purposes of God. Jesus would establish the platform and the basis for his congregation/assembly to stand when the onslaught by the spirit of Rome would come against the body of the One New Man. Satan does not waste any time to come with the test. 12. RESTORATION OF THE ANOINTING OF PROPHET, PRIEST AND KING BY THE BRIDE OF CHRIST Jesus the Messiah has risen and sits at the right hand of the Father “until I (God) make your enemies your footstool.” (Ps.110:1)

a) God will make the enemies of Christ His footstool, but b) From this position He (Yahshua) reigns over the Bride of Christ. We find Christ’s mandate for His Bride – TO RULE. Rev. 2:25-27 “25 Only hold fast to what you have until I come. 26 And he who overcomes (is victorious) and who obeys My commands to the [very] end [doing the works that please Me], I will give him authority and power over the nations; 27 And he shall rule them with a sceptre (rod) of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, and [his power over them shall be] like that which I Myself have received from My Father;” c) To Fight (and God teaches us) Ps. 18:34 “34 He teaches my hands to war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.” We must: 1) War against the forces of darkness (Eph. 6) ÿ To this end we need to see that God goes before us. With this focus we can say: Ps. 45:5 “5 Your arrows are sharp; the peoples fall under You; Your darts pierce the hearts of the King’s enemies.” 2. War against the “spirit of the old man” that continuously attempts to return. It may seem strange to put this point up for discussion; however we see that the returning Messiah speaks to the Bride of Christ before the process of Judgment comes into play on the entire world. Christ as the Restoring Messiah says: Rev. 1:11-17; 2:1 “11 Saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega , the First and the Last. Write promptly what you see (your vision) in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia—to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.” Rev. 2:1 “TO THE angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him Who holds the seven stars [which are the messengers of the seven churches] in His right hand, Who goes about among the seven golden lampstands [which are the seven churches]:” What does He say? He says that we as the Bride of Christ have become passive, have lost ground, but He encourages us to return to our former glory. Rev. 2:7 “7 He who is able to hear, let him listen to and give heed to what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant to eat [of the fruit] of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” What is the “spirit of the old man” that we must conquer: 1. Regain love and compassion. Rev. 2: 4 “4 But I have this [one charge to make] against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first [you have deserted Me, your first love]. 2. Accept trials and persecution (and don’t go for the easy Christian life).” 2. Accept trials and triublations (and do not go for the easy Christian life). 3. Make a stand to set a standard of Holiness. Rev. 2:14-15 “14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: you have some people there who are clinging to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to set a trap and a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, [to entice them] to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols and to practice lewdness [giving themselves up to sexual vice]. 15 You also have some who in a similar way are clinging to the teaching of the Nicolaitans [those corrupters of the people] which thing I hate.” 4. Set a standard of living under God’s authority and plumbline. Rev. 2:20-21 “20 But I have this against you: that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess [claiming to be inspired], and who is teaching and leading astray my servants and beguiling them into practicing sexual vice and eating food sacrificed to idols. 21 I gave her time to repent, but she has no desire to repent of her immorality [symbolic of idolatry] and refuses to do so.” 5. Only those who have these characteristics / character elements will be empowered to take on the forces of the final assault. It is only these who will reflect the anointing of prophet, priest and king and will therefore be able to say: Rev. 3:21 “21 He who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne.” And, the next chapter Rev. 4 starts with these words… “A DOOR STANDING OPEN IN HEAVEN…”

And when I saw her, I was utterly amazed and wondered greatly.” It is not without reason that you or I are living in this day / age. God has placed us here with that purpose. It is also easy, with hindsight, to see what happened to God’s people over the ages and how the prophetic word of Daniel was manifested in the physical realm. We can also read that a remnant of God’s people repented and reacted in ways which lead to: • A broader group of people becoming involved.

• Renewed commitment to a Godly lifestyle. • An opening of the gates of heaven by intercessory prayer to enable the army of

God’s angels to war together with them. We can therefore express these experiences as follows: As we live in obedience and pray we open the gate of heaven for blessing and for support by God’s Army of angels to flow from heaven and from all individuals. The converse is also true, while we allow sin to be unconfessed, with a lifestyle of unholy action, then the gates of heaven are closed and all individuals are adversely affected. We see that: All nations will gather up And we know that: The full aspect of creation will be attacked:

Prophet King Priest This debate / analysis is not meant to be a definite exposé of the current world situation in relation to its relevance to the prophetic word of Daniel. I am merely taking current trends, news and am placing them on top of the prophetic word to see if / how it fits. The fact that we may seem to have a good fit in plans does not guarantee that our suppositions are in any way correct. We need to be constantly re-evaluating the facts in conjunction to the prophetic word. The attack by Rome, one consolidated empire, focuses on all aspects of the one new man, body, soul and spirit. We also know that the final onslaught will also be orchestrated by one empire – the name and extent of this empire is irrelevant – we do know that it must take on the characteristics of the Greek / Goat / Prince of Greece. Why? This attack is focused on the destruction of the spirit man while supporting the attacks on the body and soul. Sons of Sion – Son of Greece. and close the gate of heaven. It encompassed the attack on the Anointing of the Priest The priest speaks of our daily sacrifices and offering to God. We are living stones in His temple. As priests we need to be holy and consecrated to the work of the temple, worship, praise and service This attack on the body comes through:

• Witchcraft and astrology and other occult practices. • Immoral / ungodly lifestyle • Poverty and other physical destruction resulting in the burial of the bones

before the due time • Economical factors which will weaken the aged and ill.

It focuses on the anointing of the King The Kingly anointing speaks of the indwelling spirit of God, which guides and leads us to have a holy life of a “set apart people”.

The attack by the Prince of Greece is an all out effort to introduce the concept of alternative gods and other value systems. This Prince of Greece is represented in the form of Zeus. ZEUS: 1. His altar of Pergamum was found in Athens. 2. The geographical spiritual route which leads from this alter is in the form of Athena,

the goddess of War’s Spear. 3. Jesus refers to this as the Seat of satan: Revelation 2:13 “13 I know where you live—a place where Satan sits enthroned. We know that the predominant impact made under this spirit is humanism and

human philosophy. HERA (THE WIFE OF ZEUS): Jeremiah identifies this spirit as the Queen of Heaven. We know that the predominant impact made under this spirit is occult worship and spiritual power. How did the Spirit of the Prince of Greece impact the Body of Christ? 1. By War This spirit was the backbone of the Syrian attack against the Jews in the time of the Hasmonians. The image of Zeus in God’s temple and other idol worship is recorded in history. 2. By propaganda This spirit has spread the principle that mans understanding and reason was the bases for our existence: 1) Democracy, 2) Humanism, 3) Rationalization. 3. By Scepticism The spirit spread its tentacles with the principle that unless something is understandable by logic and reasoning-out, it means one must doubt the authenticity. OUR SPIRITUAL WARFARE: DEFENSIVE / OFFENSIVE STRATEGY Strategy: We know the BATTLEFIELD: My life and the Body of Christ We know who will come up against the Assembly of God We know how they will attack the Assembly of God. We know the TIMING of the engagement: NOW!!! But before we go to war we need to be sure that we will get to the end, to a time when the weapons of war will be laid down forever.

Isa 9:3 – 7 3 You [O Lord] have multiplied the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before You like the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil [of battle]. 4 For the yoke of [Israel’s] burden, and the staff or rod for [goading] their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor, You have broken as in the day of [Gideon with] Midian. 5 For every [tramping] warrior’s war boots and all his armor in the battle tumult and every garment rolled in blood shall be burned as fuel for the fire. 6 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

OUR DEFENSIVE STRATERGY A) Calling We need to know that we are called and what it is that we have to do.

Jer 1: 9 – 10 9 Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. 10 See, I have this day appointed you to the oversight of the nations and of the kingdoms to root out and pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.

B) Take Ownership of the Place where God has placed you

The prime example of this is Abraham who is given the land of Canaan. He passes through the length and breadth of the land, sets up alters and claims his inheritance.

Gen 13: 14 – 18 14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had left him, Lift up now your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; 15 For all the land which you see I will give to you and to your posterity forever. 16 And I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth, so that if a man could count the dust of the earth, then could your descendants also be counted. 17 Arise, walk through the land, the length of it and the breadth of it, for I will give it to you. 18 Then Abram moved his tent and came and dwelt among the oaks or terebinths of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and built there an altar to the Lord.”

Abraham marks off his covenantal territory with prayer altars.

1. Abraham enters Canaan in the North at Shechem / Shiloh

Gen 12: 6 ”6 Abram passed through the land to the locality of Shechem, to the oak or terebinth tree of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.” The land is purchased by Jacob. Gen 33: 18 – 19 “18 When Jacob came from Padan-aram, he arrived safely and in peace at the town of Shechem, in the land of Canaan, and pitched his tents before the [enclosed] town. 19 Then he bought the piece of land on which he had encamped from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for a hundred pieces of money.”

This is the area where the Assembly of God / House of Jacob come to repeat the covenant to “hear and do” the commandment, this time by faith – in a land where God is not so directly evident as He was in the wilderness. 2. Abraham goes West to Bethel Mount Bethel Gen 12: 8 “8 From there he pulled up [his tent pegs] and departed to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.” It is here that Jacob confirms the covenant as the place which is the gateway to heaven. Gen 28: 12 – 19 “12 And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it! 13 And behold, the Lord stood over and beside him and said, I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father [forefather] and the God of Isaac; I will give to you and to your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14 And your offspring shall be as [countless as] the dust or sand of the ground, and you shall spread abroad to the west and the east and the north and the south; and by you and your Offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed and bless themselves. 15 And behold, I am with you and will keep (watch over you with care, take notice of) you wherever you may go, and I will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done all of which I have told you. 16 And Jacob awoke from his sleep and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place and I did not know it.

The name has two meanings: “Portion” - it is where you discover your place / role / destiny in the world and it’s the place where your abilities / talents are revealed. “Shoulder” when everyone knows what his purpose is, he can join forces with his brother to build a nation / the body of Christ.

• Be faithful Rev 3: 7 – 13 “7 And to the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Philadelphia write: These are the words of the Holy One, the True One, He Who has the key of David, Who opens and no one shall shut, Who shuts and no one shall open: 8 I know your [record of] works and what you are doing. See! I have set before you a door wide open which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and guarded My message and have not renounced or denied My name. 9 Take note! I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet and learn and acknowledge that I have loved you.

• Celebrate the Memorials – Purim (Priest / Prophet) / Chanukah (King). This is how the Jewish people celebrate these feasts / time. We have been under the same attacks. Study this prototype and take what you can / want to use in your own personalized celebration. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you new revelaion to celebrate with today’s music, etc. Remember, we do not gather to remember the moment, but the - Past - Present - and Future. We gather to publicize / recite / shout the Name of Hashem / God in public . Remember the celebration of the all out attack by the type of Rome / Babylon needs to reflect both Purim and Chanukah and the restoration of the Prophetic word.

In every generation God has called on his representatives on earth to stand in the gap and be counted as warriors. 1. Abraham and his family (± 300 people) Take the land of Canaan 2. Moses – He sets up the tabernacle as the permanent place for God’s glory to reside. He sets up the tabernacle ] So that God’s He anoints the tabernacle ] presence can He sanctifies the tabernacle ] dwell there. – Moses also leads his people out of Egypt and leads them to numerous victories e.g. Egyptians Ex 14: 1 – 31 Amalekites Ex 17: 8 – 16 Canaanites Ex 21: 1 – 4 Amorites Ex 21: 21 – 32 ; Deut 3: 1 – 21 Bashamites Ex 2`1: 33 – 35 Midianites Ex 24: 17 – 18; 31: 1 – 54 3. Joshua Jos. 24: 13 – 14 “13 I have given you a land for which you did not labor and cities you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat from vineyards and olive yards you did not plant. 14 Now therefore, [reverently] fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in truth; put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the [Euphrates] River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.”

An excavation in Israel recently found an altar dated back to Joshua’s time.

B) BOOK OF WAR We find reference that God has a book of War. Is your name written down as a warrior for the Kingdom of Light Num. 21:14 “14 That is why it is said in the Book of the Wars of the Lord: Waheb in Suphah, and the valleys of [the branches of] the Arnon [River],” C) CALL UPON THE ARMY OF ANGELS, WHICH GOD HAS PUT IN PLACE FOR US. Ezekiel describes God's army of angels which are ready to move on our behalf. Our goal is to open the spiritual atmosphere above our home / city / land from a ladder (Jacob’s ladder – Gen. 28:12) to a spiritual double Highway (Is. 40:3; Is. 49:11). Gen. 28:12 “12 And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!” Is. 40:3 “3 A voice of one who cries: Prepare in the wilderness the way of the Lord [clear away the obstacles]; make straight and smooth in the desert a highway for our God!” Paul takes only one verse to describe the entire hierarchy of satan. Long before this, in the days of Ezekiel (in the Book of Ezekiel), God reveals His structure in much greater detail. There are two good reasons for this: 1. To give us something to imagine / see and to hold onto during trials and tribulations 2. To tell us that this army will be instrumental in the events surrounding the last days and the establishment of the New Jerusalem which is described in the last few chapters of Ezekiel (Chapter 38 and onwards). What is relevant and amazing is the complex hierarchy, which is in place. However not withstanding anything which indicate a focus on all 4 directions e.g. North / South / East / West We note that the entire army is always in unity. Ezek 1: 16 “16 As to the appearance of the wheels and their construction: in appearance they gleamed like chrysolite; and the four were formed alike, and their construction work was as it were a wheel within a wheel.” Lowest level of angels who touch the earth. Ezek 1: 15 “15 Now as I was still looking at the living creatures, I saw one wheel upon the ground beside each of the living creatures with its four faces.”

This is the next level of angels. Ezek 1: 5 – 6 “5 And out of the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures [or cherubim]. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man, 6 But each one had four faces and each one had four wings.” Seraphim (see coal of fire). We are told in Is. 6: 6 which angels brought coals of fire. Ezek 1: 22 “22 Over the head of the [combined] living creature there was the likeness of a firmament, looking like the terrible and awesome [dazzling of shining] crystal or ice stretched across the expanse of sky over their heads.” This verse tells us there is a firmament above the heads of the angels. Ezek 1: 25 “25 And there was a voice above the firmament that was over their heads; when they stood, they let down their wings.” God’s voice comes from above even this. D) We are called to defend Gods City of Jerusalem ÿ Jerusalem is the center of the spiritual world Ezek 5: 5 “5 Thus says the Lord God: This is Jerusalem; in the center of the nations I have set her, and countries are round about her.” ÿ Jerusalem is the prescribed place of worship, chosen by God. Deut 12: 5 – 7, 10 – 11 “5 But you shall seek the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put His Name and make His dwelling place, and there shall you come; 6 And there you shall bring your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the offering of your hands, and your vows and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock. 7 And there you shall eat before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice in all to which you put your hand, you and your households, in which the Lord your God has blessed you. Deuteronomy 12:10-11 (AMP) 10 But when you go over the Jordan and dwell in the land which the Lord your God causes you to inherit, and He gives you rest from all your enemies round about so that you dwell in safety, 11 Then there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause His Name [and His Presence] to dwell there; to it you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes and what the hand presents [as a first gift from the fruits of the ground], and all your choicest offerings which you vow to the Lord.” ÿ We are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Ps 122: 6 “6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they prosper who love you [the Holy City]!” ÿ New Jerusalem We realize that within the spiritual realm there is no physical space. Concepts of an opposite nature can’t be together e.g. we know that sin cannot be in heaven therefore the concept of good and bad can only be found together in the physical realm on earth. Spiritual entities, angels, can be bound to physical objects e.g. man, just as the soul is bound to the body. It stands to reason that it is only in the physical realm that different spiritual beings (kingdom of light and kingdom of darkness) can be brought together. We read of a New Jerusalem / a new temple, which will by a miracle, in a day come down from heaven.

Ezek 40: 2 “2 In the visions of God He brought me into the land of Israel and set me down upon a very high mountain, on the south side of which there was what seemed to be the structure of a city.” Ezek 48: 35 “35 The distance around the city shall be 18,000 [4 x 4,500] measures; and the name of the city from that day and ever after shall be, the lord is there.” We therefore realize that the earthly Jerusalem is connected with to heavenly Jerusalem.

God says that, the very dimension of creation – the stars, moon etc. have all been infused with his Torah / Word and will stand on his commandment. Jer 33: 25 “25 Thus says the Lord: If My covenant with day and night does not stand, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of the heavens and the earth [the whole order of nature],” Finally God prays in Jerusalem. Is 56: 7 “7 All these I will bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” Any spiritual force, representing the concepts of Persia, Greece, Rome or Babylon, manifesting in the physical Jerusalem are therefore in opposition to God’s will. We therefore need to constantly pray, petition / intercede for God’s City.

REGENERATE YOUR SPIRIT – THE GIFT OF YOUTH We have already debated the principle of Esau and Jacob – i.e. that whatever kingdom we worship and serve gain the upper hand over the other. We find here, another application of this principle: God’s Kingdom on earth is a reflection of the Kingdom of Heaven. How God runs the earth within the Body of Christ reveals something of heaven as well. We all grow older and with age the physical body becomes weaker. So too does our power in the spiritual realm become weaker with exhaustion. A Levite was called to “army work” in the temple but had to retire at the age of 50. Num. 8: 24-26 “24 This is what applies to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to perform the work of the service of the Tent of Meeting, 25 And at the age of fifty years, they shall retire from the warfare of the service and serve no more, 26 But shall help their brethren in the Tent of Meeting [attend to protecting the sacred things from being profaned], but shall do no regular or heavy service. Thus shall you direct the Levites in regard to their duties.” If you want to retain your youth – your gift of life – then you need to draw on the strength from the heart of the battle, from the comradeship with your friends, from the role model of the hero’s in battle so that your enthusiasm and drive will be kept alight in time of tribulation. We must build memorials of the time when we record Spiritual victory so that we can draw on this deposit in time of need.

CONCLUSION We know that God is Light and in Him there is no darkness (1 John 1:5). We know that Jesus is Light (John 8:12; Rev 22:23; John 1:4). We know that in the New Jerusalem there will be no sun and no moon, i.e. light as we know today will cease (the sun, moon, stars, etc.). BUT They will be replaced with the Glory of God and the Light of the Lamb. We know that the number 7 is the fullness of man therefore the number 8 is something more, something beyond, some place where no light has been. Our body is the temple (living stones). Jesus came to dedicate Himself. He was/is the Eighth Light – the fullness. We should strive to be the same. Finally, the essence of Chanukah is also a legacy from Abraham. The fundamental call for this time is a challenge to new heights of renewal. This can only be done by the “young” at heart. When Abraham was commanded to offer his son, Abraham “returned to his youth”, i.e. he took on this new challenge with all the enthusiasm of a young man. Is. 60:1 “1 ARISE [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!”
