Many of us get “stuck” in troubling situations because we think our problems are hopeless. Once we think there’s no hope of a solution, we often throw a full-blown pity party and refuse to do anything. The strange thing about pity parties is that no one wants to be there except you! The two blind men in Matthew 20 obviously suffered from a permanent condition, but they chose to look to Jesus for help. Jesus stood ready to help, asking, “What do you want me to do for you?” Whenever we face problems, we can choose to wallow in self-pity or look to Christ for solutions. The next time you’re feeling troubled, imagine that Jesus is sitting next to you, asking, “What can I do for you?” As you talk to the Lord, you’ll be surprised at how many of your solutions are waiting nearby.
Dear Lord, we confess that we spend too much time
complaining about our problems instead of talking to you to discover the answers.
Today we want to talk to you about some of our concerns. Amen
