MIchAel tojner

founder & majority shareholder

of Montana tech components Ag

When we established Montana Tech Components in 2006, we committed ourselves to developing "hidden champions" with an industrial growth strategy for global competition. it was our long-term goal to make them market leaders in their various industrial sectors.

After the takeover of the traditional aluminium components produc-tion company in 2007 by Montana Tech Components Ag, the Alu Menziken group was strategically reoriented with the Aerospace and extrusion (industrial components) divisions.

The "Aerospace" division with the company universal Alloy Cor-poration in the uSA was expanded and extended with a production subsidiary in romania (uACe).

The "extrusion" division with Alu Menziken Ag in Switzerland was geared around a sustainable path of stable growth.

During the course of the forward integration, Alu Menziken euro-motive in Austria was acquired in 2014.

State-of-the-art aluminium extrusion presses, precision high perfor-mance saws, our specialty foundry, and an up-to-date CnC machi-nery provide highest quality with sound technological expertise.

Alu Menziken in reinach (CH) is now a leader in the area of extru-ded products for special applications from customer-specific alumi-nium alloys as well as their surface finishing.

in ranshofen (A), the company is specialized in further processing these profiles into semi-finished and finished systems for the auto-motive and aerospace industries.

The stable ownership structure resulting from my majority sharehol-ding is just one of the factors that support our confidence in Mon-tana Tech Components group strategy.

We are convinced that our innovation-driven business model, backed by the full trust of our customers and employees, will bring us to our goal of innovation and market leadership.

in the vehicle and aircraft industries in particular, lightweight con-struction is considered to be a key technology for the development of sustainable and resource-saving mobility. Structures made of alu-minium in particular, which combine the benefits of a light mate-rial with high strength and good workability, have high potential for weight minimization with simultaneous enhancement of the com-ponent functionality. The future efficient use of weight-reducing alu-minium structures in vehicle and aircraft construction requires sig-nificant innovations in component development and manufacturing technology. There is high demand, especially regarding new methods and technologies, for "affordable" lightweight construction taking into consideration the increasing demands in connection with vari-ant diversity, safety and quality.

in the future, our markets will call for problem solutions and rea-dy-to-install parts above all. Alu Menziken is well equipped for this and will develop into a preferred partner by means of flexible adapta-tions to customers and strategic further development.

The acquisition of euromotive confirms this strategic course. Custo-mer-specific solutions can be defined and implemented in the two locations in Switzerland and Austria. in very close cooperation with our customers, we develop new products or alternatively optimize existing ones. This close working relationship extends over the entire value creation chain inside the company. in reinach this ranges from the specialty foundry, presses and surface technology and in ransho-fen it extends up to manufacturing components. Hence, Alu Menzi-ken is developing from being a provider of semi-finished aluminium products into a long-term strategic partner of its customers.

The company's further growth is also planned with this philoso-phy as a foundation. The internal development of Alu Menziken is focused on targeted expansion of the product range, increased flexibility in planning, production and logistics, and increased cost awareness. That way we can offer our customers attractive solutions for a long time. The growth strategy envisages further acquisitions along the value creation chain in order to be able to offer our custo-mers both high-quality aluminium profiles as well as ready-to-install components.

"We implement our guiding principle, i.e. "Alu Menziken supplies to customers who demand more than just a profile", with our strategic direction."

from 1988 to 1994, the American Donald Judd (1928-1994), who was one of the most important sculptors in the post-war era, worked together with Alu Menziken. Judd himself called these sculptures "Menziken Pieces", true to the place where they came into being. in cooperation with Alu Menziken, a multitude of his most famous works arose, which found their way into museums and private collections and achieved top results in the international art market. gaunt geometric sculptures made of aluminium with extreme clarity and fascina-ting aesthetics became icons of sculpture. in the company archive of Alu Menziken, you can find documents including technical drawings, order confirmations, shipping slips, and invoices from the time between 1988 and 1994, which circulated between Judd's studio in Texas and Alu Menziken. They bear testimony to an extremely intensive and productive working relationship that inspired the late work of the American artist. According to his gallery owner, Judd found the wealth of material offered by industry to be stimulating for his art. of all the materials, he was most taken by aluminium due to its low weight and high stability.
