When you call Adventist Retirement, the cheerful voice you’ll hear is that of new administrative assistant Sherri Jackson. Last month she joined the staff to fill a vacancy created when Monica Johnson transitioned to a benefits processor position within the department.

“Sherri is a great addition to our team. She brings enthusiasm, professionalism and a heart for customer service to this important, front-facing role,” says Ray Jimenez, administrator.

While raising son Malcolm (24), and daughter Zoe, a high school senior, Jackson worked part-time for the construction company she owns with her husband Barrington Jackson.

Jackson says she is a natural servant, and that her “superpower” is making people feel welcome, seen and listened to. She and her family are active in various ministries at the Capitol Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church in Washington, D.C.

There is a trend of administrative assistants moving into other positions within the department—the past four have done so! Don’t get any ideas, Sherri! We’re glad they stay and continue to apply their knowledge and expertise to provide services to our retirees, employees and employers.

Monica Johnson recently moved to the benefits area where she is already settling into her new responsibilities and phasing out the old ones.

“Monica has done an outstanding job for us and she is just the right person to help us strengthen our benefits team,” said Jimenez.

Brie, on a cedar plank Pizza Bread (try Italian bread brushed with butter)

Brush with olive oil, add salt, garlic and a bit of rosemary or basil
